OH I DO LIKE TO ZIP BESIDE THE SEASIDE London’s nearest beach is Leigh on Sea, Essex, just 30 miles east of London. Bell Wharf Beach is close to Leigh’s renowned cockle sheds where you can see the working fishing boats bring in their bounty, and then sample a taste of Southend too. Nearby there are also character pubs, and waterfront cafes and restaurants.

The area regularly hosts a Farmers’ market featuring fresh produce from the surrounding local farms.

You can shop for breads, veggies, meat and fish fresh from the sea.

WOBURN SAFARI PARK Take a drive on the wild side, head over to Woburn Safari Park just off the M40 to check out the wildlife from the safety of your Zipcar. The Woburn Safari Park has over 80 species of wild animals in over 300 acres of beautiful Bedfordshire Parkland.

This includes elephants, giraffes, zebras, rhinos, lions and tigers….and bears! Oh my! The journey from London should take around an hour. Once there, the road safari around the park takes around an hour to complete, although you can drive around the park as many times as you like. You could be there and back in 4 hours, no waiting for trains and taxis, but plenty of cheeky monkeys!

Mark, founder of Marky Market tells us why Zipcar helps keep his meat and fish fresh.

Mark White founded his Marky Market business in 2010 after being made redundant from a job as a copywriter.

Having always been interested in food in all its variations – he started helping out a friend at his restaurant, visiting early morning produce markets to get the best fresh ingredients – and soon realised that there was a gap in the market for providing top quality ingredients to people at wholesale prices – half the price that they were paying at the fishmongers or the butchers.
