Team spirit together with long distance performance, as embodied by the 24 Heures du Mans, is the credo of the European Le Mans Series. The duty of the ELMS is to offer its competitors a full season to race their cars on some of the best tracks in Europe, while keeping tight control of the costs associated with running in a top European wide series. Also the champions will be offered a place on the grid of the 2017 24 Heures du Mans, which gives an extra, important dimension to the title race across the categories in 2016. The Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO) guarantees a series that has strict rules and a paddock that embodies the professionalism that surrounds top level endurance racing. However the ELMS paddock is a friendly environment for the teams, drivers, the media and, of course, the fans and the European Le Mans Series gives everybody the opportunity to take advantage of motor racing in a different way. The choice between Prototype and GT cars give the competitors the opportunity to compete in a first-class series according to their budgets and the level of competitiveness means there is plenty of track action throughout the large grid of 40+ cars. The European Le Mans Series is a natural training ground for drivers wanting to tackle the FIA World Endurance Championship. Drivers competing in LMP2 and LMGTE are racing the same machinery that competes on the world stage and perhaps the next world champion will be found on the grid of the ELMS in 2015.

Already in the LM P2 category, with the JS P2, and in CN with the JS 53 EVO 2, Ligier is now adding to its range with the JS P3, a sport-prototype for the LM P3 category. The Ligier JS P3 fully benefits from its kinship with the Ligier JS P2, notably concerning the design and the aerodynamic characteristics which are inspired by the latter: a choice of efficiency. The car has been homologated in August 2015 for 4 years according to the current ACO regulations. Its conception follows the same philosophy as the other Onroak Automotive sport-prototypes, creating a product that is reliable, easy to use and competitive . The Ligier JS P3’s main assets are: significant weight optimisation, aerodynamics, ease of maintenance, habitability & safety of the cockpit, ventilation & driving comfort. The car is an adaptation of the partnership’s existing Ligier JS P2, featuring an aerodynamic design that makes the new chassis aesthetically similar to its predecessor. HP Composites developed the carbon parts, while Exa focused on the CFD (computational fluid dynamics). Driver safety has also been prioritised by Onroak. Stand 21 has produced and developed a range of new driver equipment that will aid driver ventilation. An in-car airflow system has also been installed, which will provide the driver with a consistent stream of air to enhance comfort. Nissan is the official engine supplier for the LM P3 category. Onroak Automotive, who already uses the Nissan V8 engine in its LM P2 sport-prototypes, is continuing its collaboration with the Japanese brand.

Toni FornĂŠ is eying to move one step forward and his next goal is to participate in the European Le Mans Series, one of the most competitive, exciting Prototypes/GT championships in the world. Cars entered in the European Le Mans Series fall into two main categories, prototypes and GT. The prototype class is sub-divided in two categories: LMP2 (Le Mans Prototype 2) and LMP3 (Le Mans Prototype 3), with GT cars fighting for honors in LMGTE (Grand Touring Endurance). In order to balance power output between different makes, cars are equipped with air restrictors. Their diameter is varied according to the engine configuration and weight for GT cars. FornĂŠ plans to drive a Ligier JS P3 LMP3, the most recent prototype built by Onroak Automotive, at some of the most famous and challenging race tracks such as Silverstone, Imola, Red Bull Ring, Le Castellet, Spa-Francorchamps or Estoril. The series feature action-packed racing, glamorous racing cars built by world-renowned brands (Ligier, Oreca, Morgan, Ferrari, BMW, Porsche...) and a perfect combination of professional and amateurs drivers providing excitement and closely-fought races. This project guarantees for sponsors involved outstanding mass media impact, as all events well attended and an extensive TV coverage.
