The famous Brasilian composer, pianist and guitarist Egberto Gismonti is world-wide known for his anusual style of playing guitar with 10 strings, 12 strings, and even the 14 strings. Neck and rows of wires on his instruments are twice as big as classical guitar and almost unattainable for many famous guitarist. When Gismonti was just six, his 15 years long music education on piano begin. It was fallowed by the orchestration studies in Paris, and than the guitar. After replacing the classical for specially made guitar with the 10 strings, Gismonti begins work on composing concerts under the influence of very expressive guitarists like Django Reinhardt and Jimi Hendrix. His anthology album „Sanfona” in 1981 ranked Gismonti among the authors of the best jazz records of the old time and his name entered in the generation of the grates jazz musicians of the decade in witch the great Keith Jarrett, Chick Corea, Wayne Shorter and Pat Metheny were pointed out and associated with him the most. Gismonti recorded album „Sol Do Meio Dia”, devoted to Singo indians with whom the Brazilian artist lived for a time in the jungle of the Amazon. Opus that brings out 48 solo albums, 32 editions on witch he worked as a guest soloist the author or the producers with as many as 58 compositions for film, television, theater and ballet, and 17 published and performed concerts around the world make Gismonti one of the greatest artist of the time.

Began to study guitar at age six, graduated from the Music Academy in Zagreb in the class Darko Petrinjak, and further studies with Hubert Käppel at the High School of Music in Cologne. Between 1990. and 1997. year, he has won many important awards in the world, the only guitarist to win both international competitions Andrés Segovia (in Granada and in Palma de Mallorca), and was the winner of the Fernando Sor, Manuel Ponce, Manuel de Falla and Francisco Tárrega. At the largest Spanish guitar competition in Madrid, held under the auspices of the royal family, won first and special prize for interpretation of Spanish music. In addition, in many competitions he also won the audience award. He performed (solo and with orchestra) on all continents, gives special attention to contemporary music and on his concerts are often piceses of Takemitsu, Henze, Reily, Carter and Gubaidulina, and many composers dedicated him their works. Often keeps the tour on which play concerts with Bach’s music, also cherishes a special affinity for Spanish and South American musical idiom, from Sor to Albéniz and from Tárrega to Villa-Lobos. He has recorded for labels in Germany, Spain, Belgium and Canada. A renowned pedagogue, he has brought up generations of classical guitar at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and at the High School of Music in Barcelona.
