What about mushroom? After a brainstorming session with my classmates I did an extensive research focusing on different aspects and discovered that mushroomt can be used for both making paper and ink!

As mushroom picking is a very common activity in northern Sweden I decided to convert my sketchbook into a more personal experience for the kids. String

The cut of parts of the natural hemp strings from the industry.

I believe sustainability should be implemented from childhood so with this project I aimed to provide children awareness and understanding a sustainable future by letting them do their own sustainable Sketch Books and Crayons.

Improving the service of Umedalen Skulptur Mapping customer journey Understanding the brand identity Outdoor user experience mapping at -15oC November ‘10

with; Robert Bau ErgonomiDesign, Brand&Design Strategist

The Beginning

Customer Journey

During this project we were introduced the basics of design management, design strategy and thinking. We worked as a group of seven in order to understand and improve the experience of Umedalen Skulptur. In order to understand the current position of the park, we did research, brand identity analysis and brand positioning. We talked to the people who has been there before and never heard of it to get a clear view of the brand image for the customers. To experience the journey and conduct interviews, we went to the sculpture park where we analysed the key touch points and interactions. Going on-site gave us first hand valuable information about how the park operates in winter, what are the gaps in customer perception vs. reality and frozen fingers.

Student Quest UID Goal : Requirements : Challenge : Date : Duration :

with; Ming K. Leung

Creating an experience for the visitors in UID Introducing UID to future students Giving the students an experience they will not forget January ‘11 5 days

SQUID What is SQUID

SQUID is an annual “Treasure Hunting” game in UID giving the future students a chance to explore UID with an unforgettable experience.

The aim of SQUID is to Complete the UID map given to you in the package in the shortest time possible. First Q- Card which contains the first question is also given in the package. First question for each group is different so everyone follows a different route. When a group finds the answer and goes to the check point the responsible student checks if the answer is correct and gives them a side quest or the next Q-Card.

Getting to school - Pick up service from airport at specified time Arriving at the school Get information Get your package

We were lectured about what experience design in the beginning and after that did some brainstorming about creating an experience for the visitors in UID and pedestrians of a bridge in Umeå. For the rest of the week I developed a conceptual experience design project for students that visit UID. My aim was to create a fun experience while giving the future students a chance to experience UID from the inside.

Package Contents

Start the quest.

The “Treasure” Map with important places cut off “A foreigner’s guide to the UID” - Information booklet about the quest Brochure about UID Card to get in and out of the school Coffee key - If requested The first “Q-Card” Names and numbers of contact students

Solve the first Q-Card & continue Do side quests on the way Take pictures and upload them in the computer next to the auditorium Complete the map Fika

During Prototyping the Future week I attended the Experience Design Workshop with Ming K. Leung.

The Aim of the game

Register from the UID website as a group for annual Student Quest UID

Kitchen Timer

with Per Sihlen

Designing a kitchen timer for Bang&Olufsen Understanging the design process The first project of my life as a designer September ‘10 4 Weeks

Brand Analysis

Concept Development

Ideation

Bang & Olufsen manufactures a highly distinctive and exclusive range of televisions, music systems, loudspeakers, telephones, and multimedia products that combine technological excellence with emotional appeal.

Strong

Sleek

Zen

Nowadays spending time in the kitchen, to cook or enjoy food is considerably decreased as people have busy lives. I decided to base my timer on the concept of Kitchen is the Heart of a house. A kitchen timer – opposite to others, that aims to increase the time spend at the kitchen and give quality to that time providing a warm environment and make the kitchen heart of the house again.

Luxury

Persona Yuki

Olivia

Ben

Ben and Olivia are a newly wed couple. They love spending time with each other but their long and different working hours don’t allow them so much. Even when they are home at the same time, they rarely enjoy a dinner together as each has other work to do. Olivia loves listening to music when she is doing other things.Ben is a Bang&Olufsen fan. He still has the classic parts that he brought back from the house he grew up in. Their passion to music is even shared by their cat, Yuki. She is annoyed by sudden sharp noises but love soft music around the house.

his B&0 t h t i w p u “I grew it! I love e v a h l il t s I 4002 and the quality!”

Form Project

BUG to HAMMOCK Extra Curricular Project Goal : Requirements : Challenge : Date : Duration :

with; Tony Catignani

Taking inspiration from a bug to create a form The final form to give the feeling of the start point Letting the mind go off track January ‘11 10 weeks

The Jewel Bug

This project was quite challenging and at times frustrating, but developed into something fun and quite rewarding in the end. It started with sketching the rough form of the Jewel bug just to represent its character or stance. This was followed by looking into its environment to capture some interesting aspects of it. What looked like 2 distorted ellipses in the begining started developing into a shell kind of structure as I started thinking about how the hard outer shell of the bug protects its soft internal organs. This became the primary theme of my concept sketches. With this central idea of a shell protection the form gradually developed into a hammock which is stays true with the functional and aesthetic aspect of the Jewel bug.

Inspiration: The Mask

Mini Projects Mp3 player integrated headphones.

While I was working as an engineer in a large factory came up with this concept.

The armless clock aka History of data storage

I observed the workers and

This idea was created during a semi=brainstorming talks among the friends. I decided to make a model and test the concept.

For safety reasons, the workers have to use ear protectors in the work environment. But as I observed, even when they had the protectors on, they had a tape player with loud music on.

The big opening on the clock shows the hour and the small opening shows the minutes. The back plate is stable whereas the red part and black part rotates with time.

I combined the two, and designed a headphone mp3 player which can be adjusted quite easily, protect the ears while letting the worker listen to his favorite music without any cables obstructing him to do his work.

This was the first thing l built that actually worked (aside from lagging due to the weight of added materials). As I built the mock up I realised it was also showing the history of data storage as I used a disk, couple of CDs and couple of casettes.
