David Abecasis was born in Gibraltar in 1949 and left as a young boy moving to London to learn in Yeshivah. Four years later he then went on to study accountancy and banking and became a member of the Institute of Banking. He worked in the City in London as an analyst and later served as a Bank Manager for some years. Rabbi Abecasis’s heart and desire were always in learning Torah which he never abandoned. He left banking to learn in Kolel where he has been learning and teaching full time for over thirty years, as well as serving as a community, during this time gaining Semicha from Dayan Kaplin of the London Beth Din and Dayan David of the Sefardi Beth Din.
