This house is located in a traditional residential area of Beijing. The owner is a middle-aged couple. The husband is a poet, and the wife is a sculptor who has lived here since childhood. She wants a new home on this site that will bring back memories.
The house before and the neighbors are a kind of house called "Zayuan" which was renovated from traditional house in Beijing called "Siheyuan". "Siheyuan" has 4 rooms, but the 4 rooms are not connected. Although it looks closed from the outside, it is surprisingly open inside. This project inherited the atmosphere of closing from outside, but made a connection of the four rooms and made the courtyard more open.
