Baby Giraffes Born at Zoo Miami

This past February, Zoo Miami welcomed two new baby giraffes! The male calf was born on February 13 to four-year-old mother “Zuri,” and the female calf on February 20 to 12-year-old mother “Mia.” Both are yet to be named. This is Zuri’s first baby, and Mia’s sixth!

The two newborns were at first held inside a holding area with their mothers, allowing them time to bond properly before introducing them to the herd. They made their exhibit debut together on February 27, 2019, and are now out in their new homes daily so guests are welcome to visit them!

They are the 53rd and 54th giraffes born in Zoo Miami history.
