Regatta Information
Travel and Transport Rowers travel to and from regattas/camps in a chartered bus or minivans Rowing management prefer that the rowers travel together There may be occasions that some rowers travel home with parents following the conclusion of regattas and once they have been released The rowing manager will contact you before the regatta to get an indication of who will be going home with parents so the right bus size can be ordered Please note, all girls must stay until the last race to help with pack up if they are travelling home with their parent
Facilities at Regattas The rowers are always based in the boat park There are three Rangi Ruru Rowing tents there, one recovery tent where all recovery food is served, one erg tent and one rehab tent This rehab tent allows the girls with injuries to be treated in private by the physio
Regatta and Racing Schedules Once crews have been entered, the rowing manager will send out a Rangi Ruru day sheet which is always subject to change Please note this can sometimes be late at night once the crews have been finalised. Full day sheets are available to purchase from regatta management at the beginning of each day Race schedules can also be viewed online at wwwrowitconz
Boat Park This is a frantic area of activity during regattas Before a race, athletes need to focus on their own performance and coaches’ input After races, crews need space to debrief and get together to celebrate, commiserate or refocus We ask that parents do not enter the boat park unless invited by the rowing manager or coaching member for a specific task. A tour will be provided of the boat park at SISS at the conclusion of racing on the Friday so you can see where all the action happens If a second tour can be completed earlier in the season we will try our best to do that, it all depends on race schedules and timings The rowing manager will communicate with the parent coordinator’s to advise if that will be happening
Visiting girls at Regattas Regattas are very busy times where some girls can have upwards of 6 races in a weekend, therefore meaning rest and time out of the sun and off their legs is imperative If you would like to visit your daughter when away, you are more than welcome to visit her up at the hotel if she has some down time during the day or at the completion of racing for the day, we just ask this is done outside in the carpark or in the hotel lobby to respect the other girls There may be times after a race that the girls can bike down and say ‘hi’ as they are on their way back to the hotel but this will be at the discretion of the coaching/management team and will be done on a case by case basis depending on weather and how many races they may have left Please understand we have the girls well being in mind and are there to help get the best out of them and need to ensure they are recovering properly
