Hong Kong escalators are government infrastructure facilities that increase efficiency in response to high density. The escalator radiates the surrounding life, and each area it passes has various defects in living space due to the tight land. We aim to improve the quality of life and operating efficiency around the escalators by transforming the areas along the escalators.

Casa Grandma [Apr. 2018-May. 2018] Individual Work South China University of Technology Instuctor: Du Hongwu
Meet
Alzheimer's Disease
I meet with my grandma less and less. When I was a kid, I lived at my grandma's house. She brought me up to take care of my daily life. Later, when I moved to middle school, I moved out. And I would meet her on my winter and summer vacations. After going to college, I will go to reunite with her only when the Spring Festival.
As my grandma grew older, she unfortunately developed Alzheimer's disease. As time passed, Grandma's illness became more and more serious. From the beginning, she forgot some small things, and gradually developed hallucinations. She lost her concentration and decreased her ability to express language.

Dear Grandma, I remember you brought me up when I was young. At that time it was very hot in the summer evening but there was no air conditioning. You would use a paper fan to cool me down and tell me the bedtime story. Every morning you would wake me up...
Dear Grandma, Later I went to elementary school and moved out with my parents. But you often pick me up from school with a lot of snacks and then go home silently. Mom said that your memory is getting worse and worse. I slowly learned the words and could not get the meaning...
Dear Grandma, I went to university far away from home, and only Spring Energy came back to see you. I heard on the phone that my mother said that your Alzheimer's disease is getting worse, you might not even remember people, and you were not able to spell my name...

Diary for Grandma Saturday, August 2st, 2019
Time: 11:34 P.M.
Dear Grandma, When I try to fall asleep during the summer night, you always set aside my bed using the paper fan, helping me cool down. You were always humming or telling stories to me. Only after I fall asleep would you go to sleep with tiredness. When I woke up the next day, you had prepared breakfast already.

I remember the winter you took me out wandering in the streets. I was so excited that I didn't pay attention. I fell to the fifth floor from the sixth floor. You ran to me, grasping the handrail with a pair of worn-out Beijing shoes. After seeing me innocent and you started to gasp. You usually try to contact me twice a week during the telephone after I moved out with my mom and dad. I often pick up the phone while I am doing my homework. And our talk would not last more than two minutes. Now I feel frustrated for not talking more with you at that time. On the last school day before the summer vacation, I was doing the c l e a n i n g . Yo u d r a g g e d t h e s w o l l e n a n d l o o s e b o d y t o p i c k m e u p w i t h a big bag of snacks. My deskmate said that my grandma is ver y good to me. I am so happy and blush. You stood there waiting for me with smiling. I remember we used to spare our evening time by watching TV news, weather forecast and TV play. The man's voice on TV was mixed with the sound of the fan rolling above us during summer. We used to sit ahead of the sofa because of my poor eyesight. You used to raise some pigeons on the balcony, and feeding pigeons is what I loved to do most during an early age. You always watch me shouting and jumping with the hovering birds with a smile. You said you would send these pigeons to me as a gift after I grow up. It was a cold day, and you came to the school to pick me up. The wind was screaming, and you saw my frozen ears. You picked up your feet, took off your hat, and gave it to me. I saw your distorted white hair. I explained that I was not cold. You said I had to keep the hat on, or I would get a cold. You made me go with my classmates and left quickly. I often remember visiting you during weekends and festivals, and you lived on the sixth floor. I often felt the top floor was filled with sunlight. You were always waiting for my coming after the door. We used to play firecrackers outside the floor, and I missed the warm time so much. Grandma, please listen to me carefully. Grandma, I love you.

Aiqun Hotel Rehabitation [Apr. 2019-Jun. 2019] Individual Work South China University of Technology Instuctor: Zhang Jian
Art-deco Elements and Collage Through Zhang Yonghe's design, I learned to pay attention to the basic elements of architecture and apply them to design. Aiqun Hotel's design used the Art Deco style, and I extracted the four elements of doors, windows, ground, and stairs, thinking about their own characteristics and organizing the design of public spaces.
DOOR ElementIntensive and Traversal
WINDOW Element-Penetrability and Multilevel
STAIR Element-Liquidity and Continuity
FLOOR Element-Classicality and Order
Four Art Deco Elements I extracted four recurring art deco elements from the hotel: doors, windows, floors, stairs and researched to understand the current status of the style. Then I extracted their own characteristics and combined them with new spaces of corresponding characteristics. 37
Hall and Reception Renovation 38
4th Floor (Gallary)
5th Floor (Exhibition)
3rd Floor (Commerce)
Spatial Sequence after DOOR Starting from the door elements, I extracted the denseness and transversality. I put multiple spaces together and connected them.
8th Floor (Gym)
9th Floor (Massage Room)
STAIR and Split I extracted the height difference and fluidity. I shattered the concept of multiple floors, giving different heights and forming staggered floors according to the needs of different spaces.
From WINDOW to Wall Starting from the door elements, I extr acted the d ense ne ss and transversality. I put multiple spaces together and connected them.
6th Floor (Book Bar)
7th Floor (Lounge)
10th Floor (Winebar)
39
Shelf and FLOOR I extracted the order and classicness of its grid. I introduced bookshelves the same size as the floor grid to create a quiet environment.
