Welcome... We are excited to welcome you to a fortnight of book events in Reading, covering everything from fiction, film and football to history, spoken word, music and much more. Part of Reading 2016 Year of Culture we are celebrating the written word in all its forms, from novels and children’s books to non-fiction and poetry. We start off at London Street’s historic Olympia Ballroom, which dates back to the 1700s, with a weekend of events from October 28th to October 30th. Local novelists and historians feature alongside speakers from a variety of fields including Tony Robinson, Ian Wright, Susie Dent and Dexter Fletcher. And the Federation of Children’s Book Groups hosts a free children’s event on Roman times at the fitting setting of Reading Museum. Then from November 4th-13th, the University of Reading presents the Reading Literature Festival at venues across the town, including the Museum of English Rural Life, Waterstones, RISC & Global Cafe and the university itself. The line-up includes workshops, poetry performances, a film screening and writers including Hollie McNish, Jonathan Coe, Penelope Skinner and Alice Oswald.

Sponsors With thanks to the following for their support of this project: The Olympia Ballroom • The Federation of Children's Book Group Reading Museum • RISC • MERL • Reading University • The Italianist Waterstones • Soundwaves • M&G Forbury Place PAGE 2
