Budget Session from today
Price rise, attrosties against women, other controversial decisions to mainly figure in session New Delhi, July 06: Presentation of the first budget by the Narendra Modi government will be the highlight of the over month-long session of Parliament starting from Monday amidst signals that the issue of price rise could generate heat. Opposition parties have a number of issues to target the government, including the recent controversy over the government rejecting the name of former solicitor general Gopal Subramanium for appointment as a judge of the apex court, the rape case controversy surrounding Union minister Nihalchand and rising incidents of atrocities against women in the country. A highlight of the proceedings on the opening day is expected to be a statement from External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in both Houses of Parliament on the situation of Indians in Iraq. While presentation of the Railway Budget is scheduled for 8th July, the economic survey will be released the next day and Union Budget 20142015 will be presented on 10th July. The issue of the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha could see a confrontation between the government and the Congress during the session if the post is denied to the main Opposition party, which has secured just 44 seats in the 543- member House. Leaders of various parties want the issues of price rise, rail hike and federal structure to be discussed during the session, which concludes on 14th August.
The session will have 28 sittings and 168 working hours. Since the Standing Committees for various ministries are yet to be constituted, the demands for grants for various Ministries will be passed by both Houses by 31st July after discussion in Parliament instead of the committees. Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu has maintained that the government is ready for a discussion on any issue and has appealed to the Opposition to “cooperate” to ensure that the decorum and dignity of Parliament is maintained. Government also intends to bring bills to replace the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Amendment) Ordinance, 2014, and a bill to replace the Ordinance with respect to the Polavaram project under Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation

There was a proposal for having a single channel with windows for programming in 11 regional language channels. “Producing content related to agriculture is challenging because different geographical regions constitute different agro-economic zones and different areas have different crops. Moreover farmers in different states, different climates speak different languages. So the content has to be region-specific,” an official said. Congress wants NC to join hands to stop BJP wave
Srinagar, July 6 : With Kashmir’s political pot boiling ahead of forthcoming polls for assembly-slated to be held by the end of this year, serious deliberations have once again started within Congress to enter into pre-poll pact with its ally National Conference in Jammu and Kashmir. Of these, Akbaruddin said 600 have been provided tickets by the Government through the facilitation process of the Baghdad mission. 600 have been paid by their companies. Another 1,600 were being provided tickets by Government for their return, he said adding that since developments in the last 48 hours, the government has calibrated its approach and the momentum of bringing back people has picked up. On Saturday, 170 people were brought and on Sunday morning an Iraqi Airways special flight brought 200 people to Delhi. In addition Iraqi Airways is also flying normal flights from Baghdad. In the next 36 to 48 hours, two other special flights from Najaf and Basra will bring 200 and 280 people respectively to Delhi. In addition a group of 117 passengers will arrive early Monday morning in Delhi by a commercial flight that will be diverted to Najaf to pick them up. Akbaruddin said the Indian mission was processing documents for facilitating the exit of 200 plus people. In the next 48 hours, all the 1,600 people who have expressed their desire to come back on tickets paid by Government would have been transported. Most of the 600 people, whose tickets have been paid for by the government, were already back in the country. They are from Hyderabad, Bangalore, Kolkata and Mumbai. The spokesman said that there were ten commercial flights available from Baghdad to various points in the gulf and the government was using all seats that were available on these flights. In addition, the government was commissioning special flights of Iraqi Airways from other areas. "With that we will be able to complete the process of bringing back all those who wanted to come back. We are also doing due diligence," he said. Referring to the easing of the situation, Akbaruddin said that approximately 480 calls were received in control rooms in Delhi and Baghdad. He said it was a judgement of the individuals whether they want to come back. Now the calls have come down from 60 to 80 calls to 4 to 6 calls a day reflecting the considerable lowering of levels of anxiety and concern. On the problem of Indians in the conflict zone, he said he would not like to go into it now, though even one life is valuable to the government.

control over the its lost ground and it for this objective that voices are being raised that the party must enter into a pre-poll pact with the National Conference. Interestingly, chief minister Omar Abdullah had kept the option of any pre-poll alliance with the Congress open- maintaining that the party president and his father Dr Farooq would take the final call over the issue once he returns to Jammu and Kashmir. Reports have also maintained that Omar in a deliberate move kept the decision of the pre-poll alliance in limbo as he was in full knowledge about the dangerous outcome for both Congress and NC if the duo decides to contest the polls separately. On the other hand, opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) has clearly denied to have given any nod to Congress of entering into any pre-poll alliance with it. The party has decided to contest the polls on its own- keeping in view the recent LS results wherein it swept all the three seats in valley. (KNS)

Kashmir facing worst kind of discrimination under NC-Congress rule: Karra Srinagar, July 06: (GNS) Accusing National Conference (NC) of working towards complete disempowerment of Kashmiris, senior PDP leader and Member Parliament, Tariq Hameed Karra Sunday said Kashmir has become a victim of worst kind of discrimination perpetuated by Omar Abdullah’s anarchic regime. “Brazen regional discrimination by the State Government in appointment of around 9000 contractual teachers under special recruitment drive should prove an eye-opener for Kashmiris. It is now amply clear that how Omar Abdullah-led regime is slowly and steadily pushing Kashmiris into perpetual economic subjugation,” Karra said in a statement issued here today. “To the shock and dismay of every Kashmiri, the advertisement issued in local dailies on 5th July 2014, shows that out of 8475 posts of contractual teachers, 5396 are for Jammu region, 2960 for Kashmir and 119 for Ladakh,” he said and
added that one fails to understand what criteria the state government has used to justify such brazen discrimination in allocation of posts. “Going by population ratio Kashmir should have got more posts than Jammu region. If not that, at least the distribution of posts should have been on 50:50 basis so that justice was done with the unemployed youth in all the regions,” Karra said. He said the worst thing is that while around 1300 contractual teacher posts have been advertised for Jammu district, there are just 80 posts for district Srinagar. “This is the height of injustice and discrimination with the city’s youth especially the girls some of whom have been waiting for a job for years so that they can get a decent marriage proposal,” he said and added that while unemployment and economic deprivation is a major concern in Srinagar, the state government seems to be hell bent upon making the things worse for the educated unemployed youth
of the city. “If this sense of injustice and discrimination is not addressed immediately, it could have dangerous consequences,” he said. “I really feel pity for the silence of the so-called political representatives of Srinagar when the rights of city’s youth are being usurped in such a brazen manner? Why are the legislators of Srinagar keeping mum on this barefaced discrimination? Has power made them so feeble that except doing lip-service to the people of Srinagar, they can’t muster the courage to stand up to this blatant show of disparity by their government?” Karra said and added that it is now very clear that by resorting to such biased policies towards Kashmiri youth, Omar Abdullah-led government is trying to push them into another phase of death and destruction as they are left with no other option. “Right from the day Omar Abdullah assumed power, Kashmir is getting step-motherly treatment in every sphere with the blessings of the Chief Minister,” he said.
