Daily train to Katra from today New Delhi, July 13: Railways will introduce from today a daily train service from here to Katra, the base camp for pilgrims visiting the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine. The AC superfast 'Shri Shakti Express' will depart from New Delhi station at 5:30 PM daily and arrive at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra station at 5:10 AM the next day. Similarly, in the return direction, it will depart from there at 10:55 PM daily and reach here at 10:45 AM the next day, a Northern Railway statement said. Comprising one first AC, five AC two-tier and nine AC three-tier coaches, the train will have stoppages at Ambala Cantt, Ludhiana, Jalandhar Cantt, Pathankot Cantt, Jammu Tawi and Udhampur stations enroute in both directions.
Youth dies in Kokernag Srinagar, July 13: A 20-year-old youth drowned in a nallah while fishing at Kokernag in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday evening. A police official told GNS that victim identified as Sajad Ahmad Malik (20) son of Ghulam Mohammad of Adhal village of Kokernag had gone to the Bringi Nallah for fishing. However, when Sajad threw the fishing line, he lost balance and fell into the nallah and drowned. Soon after the news about the drowning of youth spread in the area, locals and police rushed to the area and launched joint operation in retrieving the body, the official said. He said that late in the evening, the police with the assistance of locals retrieved the body from the Nallah. “After conducted all legal formalities, the body was handed over to his relatives for last rites”.

Srinagar, July 13 : The state Congress here on Sunday launched a scathing attack on its ally national conference accusing it of burning the Congress flags at Martyrs’ graveyard, old city ahead of the congregational prayers. The senior state Congress vicepresident stated that it was ironical to see Congress flags torn up in pieces with some burned to dust by none other than national conference. “When we reached the martyrs graveyard to pay tributes to July 13 martyrs, we were disheartened to see our flags burned by the national conference,” he told KNS, adding that the situation could have turned ugly but the leaders prevailed over the Congress supporters.

Srinagar, July 13 (KNS): Locals Sunday accused that forces barged into houses and beaten elderly to pulp in North Kashmir’s Bandipora area. According to the reports received by KNS, youth in the early morning hours assembled in groups to commemorate the anniversary of July 13, 1931 martyrs. 5 stunt bikers booked in srinagar Bikes seized Srinagar, July 13: (GNS) Srinagar police in a special drive against stunt bikers seized five bikes from Hyderpora, Parraypora, Baghat, Barzulla areas and booked five stunt performers. Five bikers were booked for rash driving besides for violation of other provisions of Motor Vehicle Act. These bikers were performing stunts on the road thereby endangering life and property of other people using the road. All the bikes that were seized were playing without number plates. The bikes have been modified for stunt making. The mudguards of the rear wheel have been removed so that it doesn’t touch the road while performing stunts. During the current year Police Station Sadder has taken cognizance of 102 violations of Motor Vehicle Act in their area where large number of Tuition centres are located. Out of 102 cases around 90 cases involve motorcycles. In most of the cases parents of the bikers found violating the provisions of Motor Vehicle Act were called to the Police Station and apprised about the riding behaviour of their wards. Srinagar police has advised the parents of the students riding motor cycles
in general to maintain a vigil on their wards so that they could be saved from fatal accidents. The parents should ad-
vise their wards to ride motorcycles as per norms and see if they have modified the bike in any manner or removed a part of their bike.
