CBM. Observing that dealing with the problem of Kashmir is a biggest challenge before the BJP led NDA Government headed by Mr Narendra Modi, Mufti reiterated his demand that holistic approach should be adopted by the new government to win hearts and minds of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “There is need to create jobs avenues for the unemployed youth of the State”, he said and hoped that new government would follow the path shown by former Prime Minister Mr Atal Behari Vajpayee. He lavished all praise on Atal Behari Vajpayee for initiating historic steps to normalize relations between India and Pakistan. He gave all credit to Vajpayee for prevailing peace on borders as, according to him, the ceasefire announced by former Prime Minister was one of biggest confidence building measures between two countries. “Only a leader like the stature of Vajpayee can take such historic initiative”, Mufti said, while recalling former Prime Minister’s speech at Srinagar on April 18, 2003 wherein he had extended hands of friendship towards Pakistan at the time when there was eyeball to eyeball situation on the borders. “Had Vajpayee not taken that historic step, there would have been no peace on the borders”, he observed. Mufti asserted to carry forward the agenda of peace, said, “PDP has shown in the past that it can facilitate the resolution process with prudence, and it is ready to shoulder the responsibility of taking the process to its logical conclusion”. “In 2002 we had only 16 members but still we had pursued the peace process with determination and commitment and established peace in this region. “It was all due to the credibility of the PDP that previous NDA regime headed by Atal Behari Vajpayee had whole heartedly supported whatever initiatives taken by us for restoring peace in this region”, he said. Reiterating resolve of his party to safeguard interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, Mufti said that PDP’s goal was to ensure inclusive political and economic empowerment of the people of J&K in a positively evolving Indo-Pak arrangement. Regretting that National Conference led coalition regime during the last six years has created chaos in the state, Mufti said that most of the problems J&K is facing today are because of NC’s lust for power as the party has always used people’s mandate to seek luxuries for its leaders. “Using the people’s mandate to seek power instead of working to uphold the aspirations and sentiments of people, NC leadership has served a big blow not just to its own credibility but to the people’s faith as well,” he added. Peer Mohammad Hussain, Saifuddin Bhat, Shoukat Gohar and others also spoke on the occasion. Prominent among those who joined PDP included Bashir Ahmed Bitta, Ghulam Ahmed Dar, Ghulam Ahmed Dar, Rashid Dar, Ghulam Nabi Dar, Abdul Ahad and others. (KNS)

She said on Jan 18 at around 6: 30 am, she got another call from her husband and he, according to her, said: “I am going to collect some goods and if anything happens to me, don’t spare Mishra and Sahny.” This was the last she spoke with her husband. “But at around 11:00 am on the same day, a man Bachan Prasad called and said: “Your husband is not well and is ill. When I enquired about Syed’s health, the caller refused to divulge details.” “I tried my best to get details about my husband but nobody told me anything,” she said. “At around 11:45 am, I got another call from Bachan Prasad and he said your husband died by committing suicide,” Begum said. She said her husband’s body reached his home in Lucknow on January 19. “I got no compensation or relief from government. Nobody told me how he died,” she said. Begum said she filed a complaint in Police Station Kalinjar against the accused officers. “Wherein I wrote that my husband has been killed by Mishra and Sahny,” she informed. “Kalinjar police then approached Kupwara police but they were bribed and case has been buried,” she alleged. She claimed that she was offered money by paramilitary officers. “I was told to take my case back and in return I would be paid 10 lakh rupees,” she claimed and said: “I told them if you would pay me 20 lakh, still I won’t take my case back.” When asked who approached her, she said: “Two persons Talib and Taufeeq called from two separate numbers.” Fauziya, the slain constable’s daughter told GNS that they got calls from 7417725850 and 9696188780 cellular phone numbers. Begum alleged that authorities have not handed over personal belongings of her husband as well as my chain and bangles, which were with him. The Commanding Officer (CO) of 162 Battalion Colonel A K Pandey denied the allegations and said police are investigating the matter. He also said that Syed’s belongings would be dispatched to his family in next ten days.
