ZAbArwAn TiMes has started a series highlighting the achievements of various Districts during the present financial year, i.e; 2013-14 in central and
state sectors. This series will help to give wide publicity to the achievements and will provide general public a window to assess the claims and give honest feedback. This effort will also help to encourage the dedicated manpower associated with the completion of different projects at district level. we solicit and expect full co-operation from the District Administration in this endour.
Today we showcase the South Kashmir’s Kulgam District.
District Kulgam - land of springs and streams - on the path of Development / Prosperity and self sufficiency Population (census 2011)=424483 souls with rural 81.23 %, urban 18.77 % and st 6.24% population. literacy rate=60.33 % , sex ratio=951 District is having 122 health institutions including one DH, 3 sDHs and 29 PHcs for providing health care facilities. District is having 1032 educational institutions including of 3 Degree colleges, 22 Hsss and 88 Hss for providing better education facilities.

District leads in better road connectivity with 596.30 Kms.of roads macadamized, 212.45 Kms. metalled and 175.15 Kms. fair weather roads.
PHE sector Efforts are on for providing drinking water to people of the District 5 schemes with 9 Habitations covering 7,869 souls are targeted for cFY in addition under NrWDP coverage 8 habitations with a population of 4621 souls are has been covered so far.
irrigation sector 1243 hecters provided irrigation facilities during 2012-13 and 4 schemes targeted for the cFY.
Education sector ssa
314 primary schools completed. 69 middle schools completed. 520 acrs completed. 348 girls toilets completed.
rmsa 16 middle schools sanctioned for up-gradation have been made operational. two buildings Nillow, Banimullah stand completed and work on 09 buildings is at different stages. 14 secondary schools are proposed to be strengthened by way of infrastructure. 22 m/s proposed for up-gradation to H/s level under rmsa during cFY.
District Development board meeting
Health govt. is very keen for providing better health care facilities to people of the District and has sanctioned various buildings which are under way of completion . 3.17 lac patients attended in the OPDs during cFY. 0.30 lac iPD admissions made. 536 major and 3040 minor surgeries conducted. 1611 institutional deliveries registered. 29800 X-rays done. 96163 lab test done.
NrHm JsY incentive of rs. 35.34 lacs paid for 2537 cases during cFY. under JssK an amount of rs.14.46 lacs spent for 1047 cases. 175 schools with 14558 students covered/examined under school Health Programme. 221 spectacles distributed free of cost

Out of 3479 taken up works, 1284 works completed during cFY under mgNErga. a total no. of 4.94 lacs man days generated.
iaY 240 completed during cFY.
Employment 148 cases sponsored to various banks during the cFY 148 cases sanctioned and disbursed.
sKEWPY Out of 8,160 eligible candidates, 7,850 are getting Vsa and an amount of rs. 2.42 crores lacs disbursed as Vsa during cFY.
