Lee Hysan Foundation Postgraduate Scholarship for Counselling Programmes 2024 Cohort
What it offers:
This scholarship offers HK$60,000/- to a South Asian student pursuing a master’s degree in counselling in Hong Kong starting from the academic year of 2024 to subsidise the tuition fee and provide support in other essential educational expenses. The master’s degree should be recognised by the Hong Kong Professional Counselling Association in its Accreditation Programme List (Link).
What will the scholarship cover?
• HK$60,000 towards study related expenses such as tuition fees, books, laptop, printer or any other essential educational expenses.
• Priority for Placement Opportunity at The Zubin Foundation’s Ethnic Minority Well-being Centre.
• Paired with a Counsellor at The Zubin Foundation (TZF) who will provide mentoring – meeting 3 times a year.
What are the responsibilities of the recipient?
• Write a letter of what has most shaped the scholar over the past academic year, by 30th June of the academic year.
• Undertake 20 hours of community service at The Zubin Foundation’s Ethnic Minority Well-being Center each year during the master’s programme.
• Show commitment to attend and participate in TZF’s capacity building programmes and events (minimum 2 events).
• Attend sponsor’s events, when invited.
• Complete a well-being check-up organised by TZF.
• Provide counselling for 3 cases at Ethnic Minority Well-being Centre within the first year after completion of the study.
Eligibility criteria:
• South Asians who speak Hindi, Urdu or Nepali.
• A resident of Hong Kong.
• Plan to dedicate career in counselling or mental health-related field in Hong Kong after study.
• The applications will be evaluated based on merit and financial need.
• If shortlisted for scholarship interviews, the candidate must have obtained a written offer of master’s degree recognised by the Hong Kong Professional Counselling Association in its Accreditation Programme List (Link) for the academic year intake of 2024-2025.
Disbursement of the Scholarship Amount:
The scholarship will be given out in instalments and will be dependent on the mode and years of postgraduate degree studies
