Thursday 4 February CONCERTGEBOUWORKEST PLAYS PROKOFIEV’S SYMPHONY NO. 5 @Concertgebouw Amsterdam Prokofiev’s Fifth is one of the pinnacles of the orchestra repertoire: epic, thrilling and brilliantly orchestrated. Composed near the end of WWII, the symphony is ‘a hymn to free and happy Man, to his mighty powers, his pure and noble spirit’. While living up to what was expected of a Soviet composer, it’s shot through with Prokofiev’s characteristic strange distortions and wry humour. More info: www.concertgebouw.nl. With unemployment rising and differences between sectors growing, the job market is on the cusp of fundamental changes, according to the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report. Jobs will disappear, but new ones are being created – and many of them will require different skill sets. The clear gap between the skills of today’s workforce and those needed tomorrow is threatening to split the labour market in two. Want to learn more about the skills and jobs of the future?
