BY OPTIMISING PARKING SPACE, PARKBEE IS GIVING SPACE BACK

Established in Delft in 2015, ParkBee has since grown into an organization of over eighty employees based in Amsterdam and London. As one of the world’s first digital car park operators, ParkBee gets cars off the street by linking drivers to existing, convenient, yet underused parking locations (often just 15% occupation). With their extensive network of more than 300 locations, smart integrations and systems that predict use and pricing, ParkBee navigates drivers to the right space at the right time. Their mission is to promote a broader vision on mobility, reconnect people with their surroundings and find and create opportunities to expand electric vehicle use. By optimising the use of existing capacity, ParkBee is giving space back to the city.

TO THE CITY

Partnership with International Workplace Group Last year, International Workplace Group (IWG) owner of the flexoffice brand Spaces, Regus and The Office Operators concluded a partnership agreement with digital car park operator ParkBee to provide access to its car parks. Two Spaces locations were opened for ParkBee users; De Rode Olifant in the center of The Hague and Keizersgracht 555 in central Amsterdam. Spaces locations in Zuidas and Amstel in Amsterdam were already part of ParkBee’s platform. Linking the Spaces parkings to ParkBee’s network boosts capacity utilisation and provides drivers in the city with 24/7 access to parking spots. To optimise capacity, ParkBee harnesses data and smart technologies for bookings, dynamic pricing and direct integration with large parking and mobility platforms, including Parkmobile, Yellowbrick and ANWB.

Financial and public interest Thanks to its partnership ParkBee generates extra income for IWG by just adding the locations to the already dense network. With a simple installation for minimal costs locations are live within no-time. According to Karin Poel, country director for the Netherlands at IWG, “This partnership agreement serves a financial and public interest. With the tremendous pressure on urban public space, you can’t rationalise allowing these kinds of parking locations to stay empty, especially in evenings and weekends. Providing parking access through ParkBee lets us take cars off the street by linking drivers to convenient and affordable spaces in parking garages. And the significant increase in capacity utilisation in turn raises car park owners’ property value.”

Demand for flexibility The Covid-19 pandemic and forced lockdowns have had an effect on office- and mobility behaviour. IWG predicts a more flexible approach to work where coming in at the office 5 days a week will not be required.

Also available on Working remotely is the new normal for many office workers, and flex offices and flexible parking spots are the answers to the changing needs for the workforce of today. ParkBee offers smart solutions for car park owners and serves consumers with different products (e.g. prepaid reservations, direct access and subscriptions). They provide an interesting alternative for expensive garages, simply the best place to park.

ParkBee is always on the lookout for new locations to unlock new parking spots and optimize existing space.
