THE NEW SOLUTION FOR YOUR CATERING SERVICE

The changing role of the office workplace is giving rise to a steady stream of new insights and a need for flexibility on all fronts, including nutrition and health. After all, who doesn’t love a delicious, varied lunch delivered right to the office? Martijn Suister, director of EatFirst, has been in the catering business for four years, offering made-toorder lunches, pantry supply, smart fridges and catering for board meetings and events.

EatFirst and the tool Ohmylunch are part of a business-to-business catering service that has been operating internationally for more than five years now. Built on a commitment to local products, sustainability and flexibility, it offers a range of services to supply business clients with healthy, convenient food options. Martijn: “EatFirst is the largest B2B catering platform in Europe. It has six main offices in total, located across Europe and Australia, and more than 2,000 local affiliated businesses.” With each new customer, the first step is always to discuss what kind of service they want. Next come the numbers, the budget and the preferred cuisine. After that, EatFirst draws up a selection of local caterers to match those needs and organizes trial weeks for two or three options. This way, companies can make an informed choice.

Flexible lunch For many suppliers, recent developments have reshuffled the deck. As traditional ways of working become more diffuse, so too are traditional approaches to catering. The emphasis is shifting towards greater flexibility, health, sustainability and our digitalization of catering services. EatFirst makes a point of selecting caterers who are committed to a sustainable workplace and future. “More and more clients are consciously choosing our flexible service. They have a fluctuating number of people working at the office, and we can accommodate that. Another aspect

is that social engagement is becoming more important for companies. One of the best ways to build and sustain a ‘company culture’ is to offer a tasty lunch.”

Sustainable catering service EatFirst’s partnerships with local caterers and its newest digital smart tools are charting a new path for catering services. For one thing, they achieve that by constantly looking at ways that entrepreneurs can help boost local activity. “The website has a new ratings screen, showing how sustainable a caterer is on metrics like type of packaging, use of local products and EV delivery. We also introduced the Ohmylunch tool to combat food waste. The results show that waste has been cut 20% relative to traditional caterers. That’s how we’re continually working on sustainable innovations.”
