TRIUMPH ARCHITECTURAL TREEHOUSE AWARD how human being can live close to nature To live in nature, a shelter is needed. To live in a house, nature is necessary. This proposal combines these elements into one. There is no hierarchy between house and tree. The house is constructed as a house and the tree is growing as a tree at the same place. But both of them are made for each other at the same time. The method is to assemble steel frames around a tree. It is a quite flexible open structure. These steal frames are stacked to reach the the hight of the tree. The frames work as infrastructure to move around in the tree and by framing the views you can experience the different beautiful spaces between branches, the house and trees and ground and sky. Four boxes are stacked to make one single house of 20 sqm. It has interior space from the 2nd box (1st floor). The interior space is created by fabric like a tent, like a second layer of clothes. The fabric spaces have organic shapes like the shape of leaves as they float to the ground.

JEWELLERY ROCK

Jewellery Rock is a jewellery showcase design made in collaboration with Figaro Agency. The outer shell of the showcase mimes the shape of a diamond. The crystallic geometry puts emphasises on the beauty of the exhibited jewellery as something precious, crystallized inside a rock, outside time and space. It can be placed on a shop counter or brought along wherever you need to present your jewellery. The jewellery are exhibited on an inner landscape of removable plaster stands in various triangular shapes. The stands and jewellery are reflected by three mirrors attached to the boxes inner surface, creating a kaleidoscopic and shimmering landscape that also reflects the light around inside the box.

PUBLICATION MAP 007 ORBIT manual of architectural possibilities Infographic of satellite launches and debris by country and year

The publication aims to merge the fields of science and research on one hand, and architectural design on the other. It aims to exemplify this approach via it’s format. MAP presents itself as a folded A1, with only two pages. Research and data on one page, and architectural projects on the other. Each issue deals with a single subject, sometimes abstract, sometimes concrete, which is placed under scrutiny through the collection of data and research from multiple perspectives. The architectural projects are a direct response to the research, sometimes pragmatic, sometimes critical or even ironic.

The project solves a new use of the former industrial area of the Zlichov Distillery as a sport and leisure centre. The aims of the project are revitalization of brownfield site of the former Zlichov Distillery, rescue of historic and architectural significant buildings, new and attractive utilization (sport and leisure center and culture), the benefits of new local functions (parking house, swimming pool), the regeneration of the southern suburb of Prague and the connection between Smichov and the Emperor’s Meadow (indoor and outdoor activities). The complex extends from the intersection of streets Strakonicka and Nadrazni to the Imperial Meadow going beyond over the arm of the Vltava River. HOUSE ON HOUSE Where is the old building ending and the new one beginning? FREE SUBJECT - Sepka & Hajek - 2008

X

ORIGINAL BUILDING

NEW EXTENSION

“The new extension is based on the free composition of elements from the original building and an extraordinary connection of 3 different functions together in one object. Where is the old building ending and the new one beginning?? The new part has freely grown out from the existing building. As a sprout, which buds from the parent individual. The new object sprouted from the old building through and through, inside and outside. The existing building is situated on the 14th October Square in Smichov (Prague 5), which is now using as a rehearsal room and alternative stage of Svanda’s Theater. The original theater hall is extended by foyer, theater café, cloakroom and sanitary facilities. The unique athmosphere of the current theater stage is enriched by the possibility of playing in the open air because of an opening roof. Also historic technical sight of freight elevator is kept in its original state. Current premises of the transformer station and storeroom are converted into the therapeutic centre. Trapezoid part of the existing building are knocked inside and newly use as a café and background rooms for actors and technicians. The five apartments are situated on the topper new floors. The new programme: ALTERNATIVE THEATER + THERAPEUTIC CENTRE + APARTMENTS

HOUSING ESTATE PETRINY revitalization of Prague’s housing estate from 60’s from the perspective of human moving in the area URBAN PLANNING - Jehlik - 2008

People walking across the territory are the priority of this project. Nowadays crowded by cars I return to the natural human movement. I research our active movements, for any purpose - the way home, to school, work, shop, for services, culture, sport and relax. Finding the shortest path connecting two places was the initiate of my work, because people are naturaly lazy, or constantly in a hurry somewhere, looking for shortcuts. My aim is to build a new system of paths in the shortest connections in the area, Building up the new paths will significantly improve the quality of public space. I also design two new public spaces at the crosses of paths and few new buildings with civil and commercial facilities. Under the newly created spaces are located underground garages. My aim was to create another center of social life out of the main road, where you want to spend time walking outside.

BUBNY RAILWAY STATION new connection in urban area CIVIL BUILDINGS - Kotas - 2007

The station is located between the Holesovice and Bubny. The old station building is badly accessible from the transportation node Vltavska (metro, tram, bus), but the railway is the main north route to the Germany. The new building is located closer to the metro station Vltavska. The building consists of glass railway hall and arc railway station building, where is the main entrance to the station, ticket office, toilets and information for passengers (the first floor). The arch can also be used as a connecting element for pedestrians between two territories. Waiting room for passengers, refreshment, cafe and shops are situated on the second floor. The third floor is used for technical support service of station. On the fourth floor is a view of the Prague city, covered the top of the arch of the building. Another entrance hall is at the opposite end of the station in the basement under the rail, where the new exit from the metro station Vltavska.

GOODS STATION ZIZKOV resolution of the space between buildings PUBLIC SPACE - Lang - 2006

Project was nominated for the University Prize Oloveny Dusan 2007

The former goods station is newly used for housing and services. Space between the buildings (originally rails) is converted into forested peninsula with a water surface and outlook towers. After ideological reconstruction of Zizkov goods station buildings got new housing function. The ground floor of buildings (loading ramp level) were converted into shops, restaurants, cafes, etc. The main idea is the forested (deserted) island, something that enables people to discover and explore the numerous nooks and paths. The part of the island, especially above water, are surrounded by weeping willows. Large part of the island is consisted of birch and beech trees. Pines as a representative of conifers are located on the island, too. Only one of the original freight towers is kept as a view of the station and city. The island is surrounded by a water reservoir on one side and from the other side is a walking area (former rails level) with a large format blue tiles, which are a symbol of the water around the island. Everything was left in the industrial character as a reminder of the original object function.
