What is Surfskate?

Surfskate is a style of skateboarding that flows through the paved landscape like a surfer on a wave. Historically skaters have loosened their trucks to get more of that surfing carve, but surfboard performance has come a long way since standard skateboard trucks were designed. For a skateboard to snap and pump like a high performance surfboard, the front truck needs to turn more than the rear truck. Carver’s patented truck systems are designed to turn more at the nose, so now you can pivot off the tail and pump for so much speed you never have to put your foot down. This real surfing dynamic means that what you learn on the pavement follows you right out into the water. And the workout you get means you’ll be crushing waves like never before, and progressing past where you ever thought you could. If you’re far from the ocean, or don’t even surf, it’s just fun to carve on all the hardtop that surrounds us like a giant concrete wave. Your driveway will never look the same. This is true surfskate. 2

25.5” Tye Stick

29” Swallow

31” Da Monsta

The little backpack-sized shredder has never been more functional. This micro-surfer has all the performance of a bigger board, while still keeping the compact portability we love about a mini.

This little board handles like it’s namesake, fast and loose. The combination of short and wide is magic, because the shorter wheelbase makes pumping this board just effortless, but the extra width and concave makes it a comfortable cruiser, too, explaining why it’s been one of the longest running designs in the Carver line.

The 31” Da Monsta is a collaboration with master shape Todd Proctor from Ventura CA, and is a surfskate with the same look and feel of his popular ‘Da Monsta’ surfboard model. Described as ‘a surfboard you can skate on waves’, the pairing with our surfskate technology is just a perfect fit.

SURFSKATE SERIES

31” Resin The narrow nose template and wide tail is just like your favorite squash-tail wave killer. It’s plenty wide and just the right length so you can snap and pump the flats with ease, and drop in to any hill with confidence. Comes complete with 6.5 C7 or CX trucks and 70mm/78a Smoke Roundhouse Wheels.

L: 31” W: 9 3/4” N: 3 1/2” T: 6 1/4” WB: 17”

The SURFSKATE SERIES features shorter decks that are meant to pump easily and carve the tightest of turns, which is why they excel as flatland surfers. Just a little rail to rail and you’re carving with speed and power. They pump so easily you can even make sections uphill so you never put your foot down. The surfy templates are wide where they need to be to give you that wide platform to plant your stance for maximum control.

“It’s the closest thing to surfing except being in the water!” - Taylor Knox

31” Fort Knox black

31” Fort Knox aqua

Taylor had a hand in every aspect of the design of his signature model, from the template shape and specs to the graphics. Everything is designed to work with Taylor’s style of power surfing, from the wide tail and nose to the trimmed wheelbase, which provides a bit more pumping speed. This is the board he cross trains on for strength and flow, carving it up and down the hills in front of his house like he’s ripping at J-Bay. Comes complete with 6.5 C7 or CX trucks and 70mm/78a Smoke ( Fort Knox black ) or Aqua ( Fort Knox aqua ) Roundhouse Wheels.

HOW TO PUMP

34” Greenroom (artist series) Updated for 2013, this mid-sized board is the perfect retro rider; wide diamond tail for solid foot placement and stretched out wheelbase for a wider stance and increased stability. The Artist Series graphic is by renowned surf artist Matt Beard. Comes complete with 6.5 C7 or CX trucks and 70mm/78a Smoke Roundhouse Wheels. L: 34” W: 9 7/8” N: 4 1/4” T: 6 5/8” WB: 18 7/8”

1. Apply some heel-to-toe pressure, rocking the board back and forth. 2. As in surfing, twisting the upper body into the direction you want to go will pull the board in that direction too. 3. Coordinate the upper body twist with the heel-to-toe pressure and you will feel the board thrust forward. 7

TRANSITION SERIES

32” Surfpunk (artist series) The TRANSITION SERIES features a double-kick mold profIle that’s perfect for parks, banks and any kind of inclined transition. The front nose kick locks your front foot in place so you can take on the vertical wall with confIdence. This series works well with our C7 truck set for extreme surfIng performance, but is particularly suited to our hybrid surfskate CX truck set. The CX’s light weight and increased stability makes ollies and airs a breeze, while still offering the snap and pump you want in a surfskate.

8

Light and full of pop, this is the ultimate surf/skate mash up for progressive riding. Ollies, old-school airs and cutting edge surfskating follows the same aerial progression of high performance surfing. Acclaimed skater and artist Jason Adams painted the Marylyn portrait graphic. 33” Fraktal

36” Venice (artist series)

Borrowing from the classic old-school pool board archetype, the Fraktal has a super wide tail; just like having a deck pad over your surfboard fins. The short wheelbase keeps it snappy and fun, and the nose kick locks your front foot into the ideal power stance.

Born on the streets and banks of Carver’s hometown neighborhood of Venice, CA, this stretched out shortboard is the same as the first prototype deck used to develop the original C7 truck. Big hill surfing, street traveling, bowl riding; this board does it all. Artist Series graphic portrait of Venice by Marco Almera.

36" Lola Pintail

36” Spaceman Pintail (artist series)

36” Venice Pintail (artist series)

One of our most popular longboard lengths, the 36” Pintail is such a versatile street surfer because of its balance between wheelbase and deck length in combination with our patented surfing truck systems. The medium-long wheelbase is short enough to pump for speed on the flats, while the deck is long enough to either cruise to the market or get you down the biggest hills in town with full control. The pin-tail kick gives this cruiser the performance edge every serious longboard needs, with it’s back foot wedge for pumping from the tail or popping over cracks, and the forward-set front truck placement for a little added stability at faster carving speeds. Artist Series Spaceman graphic by Jason Adams and Venice graphic by Marco Almera The Lola and Venice models are shown with our signature C7 front Surf truck, while the Spaceman is shown with our CX front Surfskate truck. Comes complete with 6.5 C7 or CX trucks and Smoke (lola and venice) Aqua (pintail)70mm/78a Roundhouse Wheels.

LONGBOARD SERIES

38” Gullwave (artist series) 38” Facetime (artist series) This funboard is stretched to the perfect cruising length, but still with plenty of agility and pump. The pulled-in template saves some weight so it feels like a smaller board, and we included the ever-necessary kick tail missing on so many boards this size. Artist Series graphics by renowned surf artist Matt Beard.

Comes complete with 6.5 C7 or CX trucks and 70mm/78a Smoke Roundhouse Wheels. L: 38” W: 9 3/4” N: 3 1/2” T: 6 3/4” WB: 23 1/2”

43” Pipelines (artist series) The long wheelbase gives so much, from the graceful, drawn out carves to the slight flex of the springy maple deck. Cruise the boardwalk with style, or step up the performance with the right amount of nose and tail leverage to pivot every one of those 43 inches with ease. Artist Series graphic by Ventura surf artist Erik Abel.

Comes complete with 6.5 C7 or CX trucks and 70mm/78a Smoke Roundhouse Wheels. L: 43” W: 9 3/4” N: 4 1/2” T: 7” WB: 27 1/4”

This classic LONGBOARD SERIES draws out your carves into smooth, controlled lines, but typically the longer wheelbase make them stiff and unresponsive. With Carver’s truck systems these big boards can pump and carve surprisingly tight lines, and still handle speed and hills with stability and style. These sticks are meant to perform, and are backed up by kicktails and spooned-nose concave for full functionality. And yet, with the generous length it’s easy to enjoy a cruise across town, too.

11

38” Chopsicle (artist series) This little-big-board is the most versatile cut-away on the street. The name is a combination of the chopped-anddropped trucks crossed with a traditional street skating popsicle stick. From flatland tricks to downhill sliding, this blend of symmetrical nose and tail and lowered platform delivers the performance for a new generation of trick skating. Intricate artwork by Seattle based Eatcho. Comes complete with CV Drop up Trucks and 70mm/78a Smoke Rounhdhouse wheels.

41” Drifter (artist series) This symmetrical drop thru shape is built for speed. The 11 ply construction adds heft and stability, so whether your pushing across town through traffic or carving and sliding down a paved hill, the Drifter will hold your line without chatter, and the angled Gas Pedals along the rail help give your feet an extra edge for better control. Acclaimed skater and artist Jason Adams painted the Spaceman graphic. Comes complete with CV Drop up Trucks and 75mm/81a Aqua Roundhouse wheels. L: 41” W: 9 7/8” N: 2 1/2” T: 2 1/2” WB: 31”

FREERIDE SERIES

42” Platypus Here you have a symmetrical bottom mount cutaway deck with large functional kicks nose and tail. The 7 ply deck is light, the wheelbase is short for it’s length so this board is meant to pop, shove and flip. While it’s taller than a dropped deck, the trucks mount without risers directly to the wood for a low profile, and the design of the cutaways along with the wheel wells means there will never be any wheelbite. Comes complete with CV Top Mount Trucks and 75mm/81a Aqua Roundhouse Wheels L: 42” W: 9 1/16” N: 4 1/2” T: 4 1/2” WB: 28 3/4”

Always on the cutting edge of skateboarding, Carver has developed the next generation of Downhill, Freeride and Freestyle boards. Starting with the heart of any set up, we’ve perfected the standard RKP (Reverse King Pin) truck from years of prototyping and testing, targeting the latest developments in riding styles. Around this core we’ve built a solid quiver of cutaway decks, each the embodiment of it’s own distinct riding style.

CARVER C7

The hanger twists on the bushings for a second axis of fluid movement

SURF TRUCK

The arm rotates on smooth thrust bearings for fluid pumping

The internal spring is adjustable for different riding styles Made in the USA from premium 356 alloy

This is the signature truck that started it all. Still the smoothest turning, fastest pumping surf truck ever, it's at the leading edge of true surfskate performance. The patented second axis of this front truck not only increases the turning radius of your carve, but lets you snap the nose and pivot your turns off the tail. This dynamic creates thrust and drives you forward with increasing speed. The striking similarity to surfing performance has made the C7 the choice for surf training by pros and ams alike. This truck is sold as a Set with the C2, or as a Truck Kit with wheels, bearings, risers, hardware and Pipewrench, and is available in 5.0" (7 5/8" axle width) or 6.5" (9" axle width). 14

There’s plenty of room around the bushing so the hanger can really turn

CARVER CX SURFSKATE TRUCK

The open bushing cup allows for a variety of bushing confIgurations

Patented geometry generates speed with every pump

This is Carver’s hybrid surf and skate truck. On the one hand it’s a lightweight standard RKP (Reverse King Pin) hanger and base, on the other it has a patented geometry that squeezes every bit of turn and pump from the system. This means that you can pump this truck like a C7, but it lands airs and rides fakie with more stability as well. This opens up aerial maneuvers, and keys in with the latest progression of airs in surfIng. Updated for 2013, the more open bushing cup frees up the range of pivot so this truck can pump more than ever. This front truck is sold as a Set with the C2, or as a Truck Kit with wheels, bearings, risers, hardware and Pipewrench, and is available in 5.0” (7 5/8” axle width) or 6.5” (9” axle width). 15

CARVER CV TOP MOUNT TRUCK

Machined pivot pin for precision fit and smooth rotation

The baseplate is also optimized for Drop Thru with it’s engraved logos and rounded body The hanger is hollowed out underneath for a superior weight-to-strength ratio

This truck has been in development for years, the dark little secret we’ve been testing to perfection with our friends. It’s the traditional 50 degree RKP (Reverse King Pin) truck that we critiqued on a micro level and fIxed all the bugs. The straighter kingpin eases the rail a bit so you get a smoother range with firmer bushings, which stiffens up the center so pushing and speed are stabilized. The softer rail makes these trucks great hill carvers, and makes initiating a slide easier. This is a symmetrical pair of trucks sold as a Set. Available in 7.5” (10” axle width), Finished in Black Powdercoat (shown) or Stone Aluminum. 16

CARVER CV DROP UP TRUCK

Machined pivot pin for precision fit and smooth rotation

Pivot Pin drops up into the cut out hole maintaining geometry while lowering height The base is now flush with the top of the deck so it doesn’t hang up on your foot while riding

The Drop Thru is thru! The Drop Thru base was always a funky work-around, a way to lower the height of a standard RKP truck. No one ever wanted a baseplate sticking up on the deck side! Carver has taken the same geometry and hanger from the CV and made a baseplate that still utilizes the same lowering principle of dropping the pivot through the deck, but we replaced the mounting flange back to the bottom of the board where it belongs. Now standard mounting hardware is once again flush with the deck, as is the base plate. Plus the smaller oval deck cut-out afforded by the streamlined base makes for a stronger deck. This is a symmetrical pair of trucks sold as a Set. Available in 7.5” (10”axle width), Finished in Black Powdercoat or Stone Aluminum (shown). 17

CARVER C4 Geometry designed for just the right amount of carve to land any trick with style

Lower Baseplate ideal for use with smaller street and park wheels

SHORTBOARD TRUCK

Narrower Hanger perfect for smaller streetskating decks

This is our classically proportioned lower profile truck for traditional street skating. Like all Carver products, it is the result of extensive research and testing. We took our favorite standard trucks and reverse-engineered them to understand what determined their performance characteristics. Isolating each angle and dimension, and using prototypes to prove our theories, we combined all of our favorite characteristics into one truck. The result is a truck that turns smoothly but snaps back to center, so landing a trick feels solid. We also dropped the kingpin so it won’t hang up on grinds, and we added a generous amount of metal above the axle for extra long grind wear. We cast the bottom cup washer into the baseplate so it won’t get bent or hang up on rails. We steepened the angle on the slider plate so you feel locked in on nose and tail slides. And in the end, we sculpted the cast parts so they are strong where they need to be and light where they can be, a perfect balance between function and classic form. Available in 5.0” (7 5/8” axle width) or 6.5” (9” axle width) and are 2 1/8” in height. Finished in Black Powdercoat (shown) or Stone Aluminum. 18

CARVER C2 BACK TRUCK

Geometry designed to work in tandem with our Surfskate front trucks

Taller Baseplate matches C7 and CX taller height

This classic configuration of skateboard truck is the rear pivot for both the C7 and CX sets. A great truck in it’s own right, it’s been tweaked to work in tandem with the extreme turning characteristics of our front trucks. The steeper kingpin increases the rail range, and the taller baseplate is the perfect match for our taller (2.5”) front trucks.

Available in 5.0” (7 5/8” axle width) or 6.5” (9” axle width). o helps prevents wheelbit

Carver Radials - 65mm/78a

Pipewrench

The Roundhouse Wheel Series Our trucks are all about carving, and wheel traction is key, so we’ve designed a wheel that is all about grip and speed. The Roundhouse is a delicate balance of a square-edged lip to maximize grip and a harder center profIle for speed. The key is in the shape of the lip; thin at the edge but quickly getting thicker, with a hollow relief near the core. What this does is create a spring-loaded, rebounding lip, so each time you pump for speed the wheel pumps back. And because the contact patch is nice and wide you can really dig into your rail and these wheels stick. Made in the USA from custom mixed urethane specifIcally formulated for Carver’s new Roundhouse brand.

The Carver Radial Series Wheel These 65mm wheels have the perfect combination of grip and slide properties. The soft 78A durometer urethane grips the road exceptionally well, but the rounded lip provides a nice breakaway point for slides and speed scrubbing. The center-set bearings allow you to rotate your wheels for even wear, extending their usable life.

Pipewrench This stainless steel universal pocket shop measures in at under 2 1/2” in length, so it’s easy to bring along on a session for on-the-fly adjusting. Made of tool-grade stainless steel, it won’t rust, break or wear out, guaranteed. The Allen key snaps on with a powerful neodymium magnet.

C7 Thrust Bearing Set

C7 Upgrade Kit

C7 Link Set We’ve upgraded our link so it’s made from Grade 8 steel with extra side ribs at the 90 degree bend for extra strength, and we’ve added a C-clip to the Spring Bolt so that if it ever loosens up it will never fall out. It’s easy to install, just pull the clip off the groove, assemble the C7 as you normally would and then snap the C-clip on.

C7 Spring We’ve made this custom Spring out of Rocket Wire, the best aerospace material we could find, for the longest continuous use possible. We also go to the extra steps of peening the surface, which is a way to polish the surface so there are no minute cracks that can grow over time and contribute to Spring failure, and we lightly oil them to prevent surface rust that also shortens duty cycle. We recommend that you use a liberal amount of Marine Grease (what we use at the factory) or a high quality bicycle bearing grease for quiet and long-lasting action.

C7 Thrust Bearing Set C7 Thrust Bearing Set: Like your wheel bearings, water, sand and heavy use can rust and/or wear out your bearings. can wear out your bearings, so if you’re hard on your C7 truck you can always bring that smooth rotation back to new again with this easily installed double Thrust Bearing Set with double-thick Thrust Washers.

C7 Upgrade Kit Starting in 2009 we upgraded our Bottom Thrust Bearing Washers from standard thickness to double thickness. These heavy-duty Washers are much more durable than the standard thickness Washers, but in order to fit them into the C7 we had to make more room on the Arm Bearing Plate for them. So if youhave a pre-2009 C7 and you need to replace your Thrust Bearings for any reason, whether because you have a cracked Washer or a rusty or worn out Thrust Bearing Set, this Kit will provide you with all the parts you need to rebuild your C7 with the latest improvements, including our newest Link, made with Grade 8 steel with extra side ribs at the bend for extra strength.
