Nineteen seasons. We’ve come a long way since our initial introduction of just four boards in the winter of 92/93. Chile peppers and sparkplugs were all the rage! What started as fairly basic beginnings turned into something very different. Early on, after a long day in the office, it was midnight “Pizza and Preston” sessions counting out screws and washers by hand to package as screw packs for our new line of Preston Bindings. Countless adventures ensued, like getting bounced from a hotel in Munich after a late night Red Bull-fueled rager, rat fishing from the 3rd story window of a snowboard factory, and enduring the mayhem of what became known simply as the Debacle in the Desert. And that’s not to mention the countless days of epic snowboarding that Washington’s Cascade Mountains have to offer. Without the passion for snowboarding and the fierce sense of family that exists among everyone associated with Ride (both past and present), things probably would have turned out a whole lot different. As snowboarders, we’re driven to continuously innovate in order to make the activity we live for more fun. It’s the ability to come together, as only true friends and family can, and turn something completely mundane into something truly memorable and ridiculously fun. This is true “Ride Style.” This fuels everything that happens at Ride - whether it’s product testing or a summer sales meeting, a Ride High clinic or a research and development trip. Not unlike the old adage: “Anyone can bail you out of jail, but a true friend will be right there sitting beside you saying, ‘that was awesome!’” Nineteen seasons, on the way to nineteen more. VISUALS BY: Leaving New York in 2001 as the dust was settling in our teacups from the fallout of 9/11 and before our draft papers arrived in the post, Prefab relocated to Newcastle Upon Tyne. They found we had something profound to say that they couldn’t do through the time tested exchange of design/money/food that is the design industry, so PREFAB was born, a voice to their desires, frustrations and grumpiness. Prefab’s work offers a reflection on all our popped aspirations of achieving wealth. Our houses are barely worth the price of the lawn feed we bought for them. No more cheap goods, no more cheap oil, no more sunny summers and no more cheap fuel. Never mind though, you can always warm yourself in front of one of our Prefab Originals. Most of our art is a mixture of acrylic, spray-paint, varnish and inks on wood or paper. Their flammability makes them a sound investment for the future as fuel prices increase to rise.

to help reduce our impact on the environment. In addition to internal practices such as utilizing electronically stored files, paper that is made up of 30% post consumer material and employee commuter incentives to bike, carpool and bus to work, we are applying our green initiative throughout all of our product categories. Our snowboard packaging is extremely minimal and the packaging we do use is fully recyclable shrink-wrap. We use a 100% naturally derived biodegradable wax formula on all of our boards. Almost every Ride snowboard uses full swap die-cut bases, which eliminates a significant amount of waste that otherwise would go to landfills and does not require any inks or solvents like many standard bases. Ride’s Membrain® top sheet technology cuts out more than half of the plastic used on traditional top sheets, and our new Hempbrain™ top sheet eliminates the traditional plastic top sheet altogether. Made from hemp, this new top sheet is lighter and stronger, and is made from an easily renewable resource that requires little processing. Hemp is fast growing, requires no irrigation or pesticides, and helps clean up toxins from the ground. Also check out our new UL Base and UL Steel that use less material, but still maintain durability and quality. Our boot packaging utilizes paper separators and a recycled cardboard foot form, both of which are consumer recyclable. All Ride boots feature 30% recycled EVA backing in the shell. A new approach to boot design, Ride’s exclusive Phy-Top construction utilizes fewer individual parts, less glue and creates less waste by bringing into play the specially crafted 100% phylon molded unibody. All of Ride’s binding baseplates and heelcups are made from roughly 50% recycled aluminum, and much like your empty beer cans, are 100% consumer recyclable. All of our outerwear hangtags are made from 50% recycled material and the catalog you are reading right now is FSC-Certified, composed of 30% post consumer waste.
