35 years ago, we built our first snowboard here at NIDECKER. Definitely the best decision we’ve ever made, and we haven’t looked back since. What we have done is have a fantastic time striving to push the limits of snowboard manufacturing technology, on and off the mountain. Once again this year, we’ve come up with something new… I’ll even go so far as to say revolutionary. The Ultralight and the Megalight are two of our most iconic board models, redesigned for the 19/20 collection they’ll now only share the same names of their predecessors. From a technological standpoint, everything from the top sheets to the bases has been entirely re-invented for the New Ultralight and Megalight models. Like avant-garde concept cars built for below-freezing temperatures and mountainous terrain, they represent the future of snowboard construction. II’m sure you won’t be surprised to hear we have a few more enhancements up our sleeves for next season, starting with Boots. Your feet were already ecstatic when we integrated FLOW fit technology into the NIDECKER collection last year to make sure you’d be wearing the most comfortable boots straight out of the box. While you were out shredding the slopes, we were spending long days and sleepless nights redesigning our soles and refining our lasts to make sure our already super comfy boots would be even lighter, more compact, and have the perfect level of support for every riding style and skill level on the mountain. As far as bindings are concerned, don’t you worry, our binding engineers went just as sleepless. We’ll be releasing a brand new FLOW binding we’re sure will be a snowboard crowd favorite. It looks as clean and modern as a Formula One race car, is built with technology and borrows features from FLOW’s most iconic models, but at a price that will leave you with plenty of pocket money for après-session drinks at the bar. At NIDECKER, what we may lack in snappy marketing slogans and flashy ads in the magazines, we make up for in experience and technical expertise. We also know how much fun it is to just go snowboarding. We can’t get enough of snowboarding. It’s literally the driving force behind our company, our motivation to get out of bed in the morning and to make the best products possible, so that you have the best experience possible, every time you ride. Nidecker was founded in Etoy, Switzerland. It specializes in bending wood, and sells mostly wooden wheels.

1997 Nidecker launches the Megalight, the lighest snowboard on the market.

After 2 years of development, Nidecker and former professional rider JF Pelchat debut a new brand, NOW Snowboarding, with a revolutionary binding modeled on skateboard trucks.

Nidecker and Donuts join forces to create "NDK".

Nidecker signs legendary rider Jean-Baptiste Charlet, 1995 freestyle wold champion.

In partnership with Thierry Kunz, Nidecker launches a new freestyle brand called "Donuts." Featuring cap construction and special kevlar and carbon fiber composites, the Proto debuts as the most innovative alpine snowboard in the world.

2009 Nidecker partners with professional riders Romain de Marchi, DCP, and JP Solberg to create a new brand called YES.

GROUP In 2008, Henri IV gave the key of the company to his sons Henry V, Xavier and Cédric Nidecker. They transformed the company into the NIDECKER Group, anticipating the creation of licensed brands in the years to come: Jones Snowboards, Now Snowboard Bindings, Flow Snowboarding and Laird Stand Up Paddle, while evolving their own brand Nidecker at the same time. Today, the NIDECKER Group has become a global group of leading action sport brands for winter and summer, whose products and innovations have helped to evolve every industry in which it has played a part.

The year 1986 was named the International Year of Peace by the United Nations. The Beastie Boys topped the charts with Licensed to Ill. Produced in the Nidecker factory in Rolle, Switzerland in 1986, this graphic first featured on a snowboard with a very special place in history. The following year it became one of the first snowboards to be ridden from the summit to the foot of the Mont Blanc one of the planet’s most famous mountains located in the world-renowned freeriding mecca of Chamonix, France. This re-edition is using the shape of the Mellow. Back in the beginning our sport was all about surfing on snow, and the Liberty is a tip of the hat to those surfing roots. It’s without a doubt one of the coolest, most laid back freeride boards we’ve ever made. The mix of a classic outline and high-tech materials delivers that fantastic feeling you get doing smooth surf style turns in powder, on nice groomed runs, or in end of season slush. PRO PIPE ”THE SWISS KNIFE BOARD„

Designed in 1994, graphically speaking this board was without a doubt one of the most Iconic Swiss creations to ever come out of the Nidecker factory. It was also one of the first boards to feature a double camber, the ancestor of today’s Standard Rocker built with camber under the feet and flat in between. Another feature making it especially avant-garde was the asymmetrical outline on a twin-tip model. It quickly became the freestyle board par excellence ridden by all the top pros at the time. This re-edition is using the shape of the Merc, designed for riders looking to have fun on the mountain, and improve all aspects of the way they ride. The directional shape with only a 1cm difference between the nose and the tail gives the board great drive, but makes it easy to ride switch. BABS ”CHAMONIX INSPIRED„

Babs (Jean Baptist Charlet) was hands down one of the sport’s most recognizable riders at the end of the 90s. His smooth as silk French style made everything he did appear effortless. He stood atop countless podiums, rode in the first pipe contest at Nagano Winter Olympics and graced the cover of TransWorld SNOWboarding magazine with this board. A graphic design produced by Swiss artist Nicolas Vaudroz, it perfectly captured Babs’ personality and his Chamonix valley origins in the artwork, and remains one of the most iconic Nidecker pro models to this day. This re-edition is using the shape of the Escape. This board is perfect for spending the whole day out on the mountain. LEAD AND OTHERS WILL FOLLOW... WHAT WE DO Nidecker has an intimate connection to the snowsurfing movement. To keep the stoke of surfing alive so far from the ocean, former pro snowboarder turned shaper, Thierry Kunz had to find a way to surf the mountains at home in the Swiss Alps. His solution was to design a line of boards that require a riding style driven off the back foot, just like driving through a turn off the bottom of a wave. An obsession with the force of gravity and the unique feeling that until now you could only get while riding a surfboard are the inspirations behind this collection, which combines singular surfing technologies like epoxy glassing with industry leading snowboard manufacturing techniques, and stylistic touches like old school logos and a simple white line down the middle of the base, just like the stringer on a surfboard.

SHAPE KNOWLEDGE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE It's not hard to make a good looking snowboard, what is hard though is making a snowboard that rides well. There are hundreds of boards out there, but there are only a handful that really stand out. That’s because to create the best snowboards out there, you need a knowledge of shaping and material engineering that you can only get through experience. With over 100 years of experience in winter sports product development, we’ve come to the conclusion that the eye and knowledge of a shaper will always outweigh that of a CAD designer. The outline of a snowboard defines its very heart and soul. Even the smallest variation in nose shape, radius and tail profile can have the most dramatic effect on performance. With over 30 years of snowboard manufacturing under our belts, here at Nidecker we believe the

TAIL SHAPE You could be forgiven for thinking that the tail of your board isn’t really that important. But think again. The tail is a vital part of snowboard design. It’s what helps you finish your turn and initiate the next one, but it can also be your nose when you're riding switch. No matter what type of board you ride it’s always going to be an essential part of its make up.

SIDECUT SHAPES The radius is similar to the steering wheel of your car. A smaller radius will naturally make the board turn shorter, and vice versa. One of our secrets is adjusting the radius next to the contact edges to make turning extra easy, which is why we match the appropriate sidecut to each board model and rider's specifications (weight / shoe size).

ALL ROUND Pretty much the same as the All-Round nose shape. With a pure and simple transition it delivers an easy and smooth ride. Predictable and playful in turns, it acts as a second nose for riding switch.

R5 SERIES This 5+ meter radius is the one we use for our kids boards. It allows for quick turns to help young riders progress with confidence, and to ensure they have fun and learn the correct technique from day one.

FISH This is the defining feature of our Mellow, the most surfingoriented snowboard in the line. Specially designed to sink the tail, it lets us drastically reduce the length of the board.

R6 SERIES The ultra short 6+ meter radius is the one we use for smaller and lighter snowboarders. It's perfect for riders who prefer finesse to power, and want a board that delivers responsive, reassuring turns.

PIN TAIL Narrower in the tail than the nose, a pintail shape is intended for freeriding and freecarving. In powder, the design allows the tail to sink in, giving more lift and allowing a board to be ridden while leaning forward due to the larger surface area under the front foot. FREERIDE Freeriding can be summed up pretty easily. It’s all about riding the natural terrain of the mountain. A true freeride board will handle groomed runs just fine, but with more directional shapes and set back stances, they really come alive on big powder days in the backcountry.

BEGINNER We’ve all been there. Even the best snowboarders in the world were beginners once upon a time. We define a beginner as a rider who is just starting out or who hasn't progressed past the green and blue slopes. Of course, if you have a bit more experience, but enjoy an easy going ride, these boards will work perfectly for you, too. INTERMEDIATE This level is all about improving your snowboarding skills. You've mastered the basics, and want to progress to the next level. These boards are made for riders who are starting to explore the whole mountain and are looking for a more dynamic and responsive ride. ADVANCED Advanced riders can handle pretty much everything the mountain has to offer, and like to push their personal limits no matter their preferred choice of terrain or riding style. The boards in this category are designed to live up to the highest performance standards, no matter how hard you put them to the test.

CHARACTERISTICS RATING

The board specifications are ratings of the key riding characteristics of each board from 1 (lowest performance) to 10 (highest performance) to give you an idea which one comes closest to matching your riding style.

FLOATABILITY This is a rating of how quickly a board reaches planing speed, or starts "floating" on the snow. Of course, all boards will float when they reach a high enough speed, but this tells you how fast the board will lift up off the snow when you first drop in. On deep powder days, that's the most important board spec there is. CARVABILITY Although we made it up, the term explains this board spec perfectly. This rating measures a board's performance when it comes to carving. By definition, snowboards are designed to turn, but different sidecuts and flex patterns mean there's a huge difference between boards designed for slashing up springtime slush and those for laying down horizontal carves on icy hard pack.

SWITCH This is a measure of how well a board performs riding switch. Just like in a slopestyle or halfpipe contest, if you're a pure freestyler you're looking for a perfect score. SPEED STABILITY This tells you how stable a board is at high speeds. Our boards all feel solid under your feet, but you can never have too much stability when your main goal on the mountain is to ride down it as fast as you can.

SET UP HOW TO DETERMINE YOUR STANCE?

Determining your stance isn’t about following the latest trends or just doing what you think feels good for you. It's about optimizing the harmony between rider and performance out of your board, depending on your body type and riding style. First, you have to find your natural stance then just make some small adjustments that correspond to the way you like to ride. NATURAL STANCE The Natural Stance is a calculation of your body’s skeletal geometry, which we determine by using something called the Golden Ratio. This optimum stance width is found by measuring the distance from the floor to the middle of your knee. It makes a triangle between your belly button and feet to give you the correct ratio of balance to force, without putting too much stress on your joints. CARVING STANCE The carving stance is simply your natural stance, the best ratio of balance to power. It gives you all the force you need to hold your edge driving through turns. ALL MOUNTAIN STANCE The all-mountain stance is your natural stance + 2 cm. It’s the optimum mix of performance and comfort, perfect for cruising all day on the slopes and in the backcountry. FREERIDE STANCE The freeride stance is your natural stance + 4 cm. It helps absorb chop, increases stability at high speeds and makes it super easy to lean into turns and land big drops in powder. FREESTYLE STANCE The freestyle stance is your natural stance + 6 to 10 cm. It gives you the best balance and stability for landing jumps and riding switch. Although not as carving oriented, it’s also the recommended stance for less experienced riders looking to improve their overall technique.

ASYM BOA® CLOSURE SYSTEM Lined up along the new asymmetrical tongue, the Boa® lace-guides are also asymmetrically positioned on the flatter areas of your forefoot for less pointloaded pressure and a more even closure, which increases medial arch support to reduce foot fatigue and cramping. This Nidecker innovation is co-developed with and approved by Boa®. 2. ASYM 3D MOLDED TONGUE The asymmetrical tongue is 3D molded and curved towards the medial side, following the naturally raised ridgeline of your forefoot to alleviate pressure points and give a more balanced feel of comfort and support. An anatomically correct and asymmetrical tongue performs better than a simple straight one. 3. 3D MOLDED/LASTED TOEBOX These toe-box designs eliminate extra layers and seams around the toe of the boot, to create a durable and streamlined design with less bulk and a better FlowFit on your foot, and a better FlowFit in your bindings.

Use one of the following heating methods when thermoforming boot liners: a blower heater or an oven that heats to a maximum temperature of 80°C (175°F)

METHOD 1: Instructions for thermoforming with an oven

STEP 1 Take the liners out of the shell of each boot and the insole out of the liners.

STEP 4 Remove one liner from the oven. Leave the other inside and turn off the heat. Put the insole back in the liner, then have the client insert their foot. Repeat the process with the second liner. METHOD 2: Instructions for thermoforming with a blower heater STEP 1 Take the insoles out of the liners and place the shells with the liners on the nozzles. STEP 2 Set the desired length of time and the temperature to 80°C (175°F). For heaters without temperature settings, verify the maximum temperature doesn’t exceed 80°C (175°F). STEP 3 Place the insoles back in the liners and put them on the client’s feet.

COOLING TIME

As a general rule, we recommend letting the liner cool down on the client’s feet. Then, we suggest strapping the client into their bindings mounted on their board with the correct angles and stance width.This allows the foam to compress at the specific points where pressure is applied by the binding straps, and to create a mold that corresponds to the pressure generated by the interior of the calf muscles (the wider the stance, the more pressure is applied). We highly recommend liners be heat molded in a snowboard shop equipped with a heating device specifically designed for thermoforming liners. We cannot be held responsible for damage to boots or liners thermoformed by anyone who is not a trained professional.
