Located within Kuala Lumpur's Golden Triangle, begins with Bukit Bintang Road which starts at Raja Chulan Road and ends at Pudu Road.


BIRD EYE VIEW Kuala Lumpur is a developed city, filled up with skyscrapers and beautiful buildings , which escape the eye distracted by the bustle, The first sight or first thought about this city is that everything is so perfectly arranged and designed... Throughout out this perfection, we actually missed out or forgotten the imperfection within it. From the surface, people who lives in this city effort everything they want, but some people are hidden or being neglected carving for basic need...


HISTORY

1969 RIOT Tong Shin Road in Bukit Bintang was the focal point of the Malaysia’s deadly May 13 race riot

1980s DEVELOPMENT Corporate with Tan Sri Yeoh Tiong Lay proposed a rejuvenated retail cluster in KL. Then developed by YTL Corporation and renamed as Bintang Walk.

~Now TRANSFORMATION The district has undergone a transformation to become one of the hippest destinations in the city and decentralisation malls in KL of late has seen more sophisticated malls sprouting around the city.

Bukit Bintang is well-regarded as Kuala Lumpur’s trendiest shopping and entertainment district, offering everything from sleek shopping centres and five-star hotels to all-day restaurants and vibrant nightclubs. Whether you are looking for a live music scene, a posh see-and-be-seen nightclub, or an opulent rooftop bar, Bukit Bintang has it all. Is this so? The first step into this place, your perception breaks apart. Beggars filled up the street, scaffoldings decorates the city... ...


CALVINO’S TECHNIQUE From our understanding, the first thing that attract his eyes is the physical content of the cities and the sky. He observes every single details that is under his vision along his journey in the city such as the appearance of the building that made by diamond gate, he was guided by threads to his destination and so on. Then, he also saw scaffoldings and construction happening. He then realized the city keep construction based on the blueprint of star’s position. The people tried to build their city perfectly based position of star, but earth keeps rotating and position of star keep changing. They end up with a complication city with construction happening everywhere, air is polluted and dust is all over the place.

At first sight, the city laid out with symmetrical motives whose pattern are repeated along straight lines. Each lines are arranged through relationship which escapes your eyes distracted by the bustle, and the crowds.

Bukit Bintang is now a district which undergoes many construction but why construction ? These constructions are used as a method to maintain the spirit of Bukit Bintang and prevent it from vanish. “Construction takes a long time? So that its destruction cannot begin.� -Thekla

Construction

The effect of long term construction in the city: 1. Air pollution Dust produce from the construction site will effect the health. 2. Road block Complicated temporary and narrow routes and traffic jam caused by road block "Why is Thekla's construction taking such a long time?" the inhabitants continue hoisting sacks, lowering leaded strings, moving long brushes up and down, as they answer, "So that its destruction cannot begin.“ – Thekla, Invincible City by Italio Calvino.

Social Level The effect of long term division social level in the city: 1. Different social level will have different living standard. Low social level people will struggles for living meanwhile, the high social level people will enjoy their luxuries life. Thus, social gap occurs.

Flow (circulation /transportation) The effect of new transportation and new guided path: 1. Complete and well designed systems which benefits the circulation flow of the city. Pedestrians will be convenient living in the city.
