What Am I reading? • The Bold Testament newsletter wishes to be the conscious informant for the everyday holistic minded college student
We strive to be a newsletter that will change conversation by connecting with readers in unique ways by our honest and vulnerable writing in the form of essays and poems. We will seek insight from within ourselves and our inspirations, to uplift others who may need to read our words to help maintain focus on their life and goals. We will attempt to unite a generation that’s slowly becoming recluse due to an over dependency on technology, diverse social backgrounds, division caused by political ideologies, religious views, and sad to still say, race. No, we don’t believe we could all agree on the same accord but our newsletters and future demonstrations will experiment to move more people onto a higher wavelength. One of the many beauties of life is the diversity of people and their culture’s, we wish to build understandings within our society to help us move forward. The Bold Testament also feels it’s vital to engage in healthy and natural lifestyles early in our lives to function properly and prolong our livelihood without dependence on western medicines. In the abbreviated version of this first newsletter we exemplify how powerful a consciousness movement can and will be for our generation to move forward past the inevitable challenges we are yet to face. Open your mind and read with couth, our Bold Testaments.
Are we an organization? No, nor are we using this newsletter as recruitment. We are simply 3 putting our thoughts out in public view and to whomever our words gravitates to it’s suppose to. If that’s is you we invite you to follow us on Twitter @BoldTestament, like us on Facebook, or e-mail us at bold.testament@gmail.com We do have ideas for a organization but we want it to form organically by a meeting of the minds, not just another organization you want to put on a your résumé.

CONSCIOUS CONVERSATION ‘THE GENESIS’
‘A Poem of Self-Defeat ‘ We drift through life and play out circumstances... We are unremittingly bombarded with thoughts and answers and perspectives, but are they truly our own? Learn from schooling and utilize the knowledge constructively to better your situation and ones around you; don't rest your head until you address the looming questions you have had hibernating in your conscious for (x) amount of time Rest your head when you analyze history and understand that the past has shaped and fathered the institutions and psyches of the present for better or for worse Rest your head when you decide to question and be critical of elected officials and people in power Rest your head when you realize that a stereotype of any type is a palpable absurdity Sigmund Freud developed the concept of the unconscious mind, processes in the mind that occur automatically and are not available to introspection. Let's metaphorically spin that concept and decide not to automatically conform to whatever or whomever but rely on answers and ideals formulated by the desire to break down puzzling standards and discover one's truth, internally or externally. Be an anomaly.
Cutting off the fingers that receive blessings Plugging the ears that hear directions Misguiding the steps that led to righteousness Blinding the eyes that know to seek truth Clouding the minds to prevent an escape from it all Are we stressed or do we fiend the burning sensation of our regrets that binds our souls when we fall in the state of retrospect I feel, I know, I will, live for more But spectators wouldn’t get it They’ve been spectacles floating and loathing throughout the calendar pages With empty ambition To change situation Their sparks of passion comes and goes Like a weekly paycheck Continuously being whipped around in a world where it seems everyone else moves faster in Refuse to Lie Down Overcome Self-Defeat. If the man in the mirror weeps, wouldn't you comfort him? As a human union, we must willingly catch the reflection of ourselves in others by uplifting the de facto honor code An honor code that extols the good Samaritan but is still indifferent about being so. Honoring the code of lending a helping hand to those in need by means necessary Contrary to belief, it is an honor code that transcends religion and most importantly is not limited to It is something that should be taken in the same token as bathing daily, cleansing of a conscience and completion of a citizen's duty. Void of science, void of exotic creed, void of means to conquest one's
personal agenda. But the golden rule of being a minimal but intricate part of society's quest for balance and inevitable duality. By Henry Ansah

Let’s Unite The first piece in this section you’ll be reading by Brad McElroy got added to this issue at the last minute. I hesitated to put it out because of the curses in the poem, thinking about the sensitivity of my readers. I presented my feeble concern to Brad and like a true writer he didn’t conform to even the slightest of regulations. He sent me an e-mail defending his work; it’s a privilege to work with a writer so passionate about his craft. He will be reading his short story this May at the Blow Up Gallery. Check our twitter for the details. Here’s an excerpt of the e-mail he sent me: I still think it is probably the most powerful, if not more applicable poem to our generation. On one side we have our universities, our schools, our churches as these "talking heads", we have our girlfriends, our loves, the one's we wanted to fuck but perhaps couldn't, saying that we haven't forgot, but, in the end, still leading to death anyway. Maybe "Burnt at the Stake" isn't the proper title, but that's how I think our generation feels after a certain point. Everything we have desired has been synthetic and superficial, so damn right that we curse, damn right that we use brutal imagery, damn right for "US". Maybe I'm pissed and sending this e-mail but DAMN RIGHT.
“Each generation must discover its mission, fulfill it or betray it, in relative opacity.” – Frantz Fanon
‘Our Honor Code’
Take what you will, place what you want, and print what you have. In any measure, do not cater to anything. Cuz after all, fuck it.

‘Burnt at the Stake’ We are talking heads. Always frivolously apologizing, speaking superficially, Talking ourselves to death. Fuck us. We don’t know what it means to live. We are willing to wait in lines at Starbucks, To sit through commercials, to watch our lives pass us by in a dull vapid way, striving for synthetic happiness and it’s all programmed in the T.V. Guide. Fuck us. Start a war against yourself. Against your reality. But most of all--Burn the damn guide. By Brad McElroy
‘Inofme’ Inofme, he's the #1 importer of doubt on your heart, mind, and soul. Despite the harm Inofme is capable of he still may not alarm you, for he doesn’t always wear a threating mask. He blends in making it difficult for you to know when and how to write him off. You may see Inofme as a concerned friend. However if you start to build a strong relationship with him you may deem him as a, “one of a kind friend, who knows you better than you know yourself.” Once you give Inofme that clearance in your life, this relationship will be detrimental to your future prosperity. This sensitive relationship is easily mishandled by many and has muffled powerful voices, limited our abundant resource of optimism, and tainted our love with fear.
You’re in constant battle with your Inofme. If you allow him to get the upper hand he will submerge your character, which will yield effects of emptiness or self-pity, but don’t think for a second that you have been defeated. I go on to quote the late great Martin Luther King Jr., “True peace, a calm that exceeds all description and all explanation, is peace amid storm and tranquility amid disaster.” Once you find your calmness you can then hear that silent voice of Lorem Ipsum hope that helps you create-your way through this phenomenon of life we’re experiencing. Our most lethal skill that’s used to defeat Inofme is our ability to create. A thought process that is vital to help distinguish if you are working efficiently in defeating your Inofme is asking yourself, “Does your creation use a blueprint that has you set to build or destroy? Your actions are answers to your thoughts and to produce constructive answers you need to constantly create in ways that will build your future for the long run. Quick fixes that you create to defeat Inofme ultimately lead to destruction in the long run. "Are your decisions building or destroying you?" Destroying negates your intuition. Destroying easily gains credibility with your creative process, suggesting that it takes little to no courage to make it happen. Its poison because once you undoubtedly commit to lower risk creations your ability to risk in higher building creations becomes polluted with the loss of courage within yourself to attack grander feats. To build, create in ways that force you to reach more than seems necessary. Take large calculated risks for the actions you see beneficial in building your future. DEAFEAT YOUR ONLY ENEMY, YOUR INOFME and lets continue to build. By Stefan Patterson 4

Ital Lifestyle STOP SWALLOWING Fluoride
Top 5 Ways to Decrease Your Fluoride Your Intake 1. Drink Bottle waters that have been double distilled and/or reverse osmosis (ex. Nestle Pure Life, Smartwater, European Waters) you can always call and check. 2. Don’t drink sodas 3. Consume organic products and produce; they will have less fluoride, if any. 4. Drink imported beer or beer from areas where they don’t fluoridate 5. Don’t smoke cigarettes
This topic may come off as bizarre to you for many reasons: “Fluoride isn’t bad, it’s in toothpaste.” Or “Fluoride is in our city water to help prevent cavities”. For whatever reasons, this miscalculation of our government incorporating fluorination to our municipal waters to help lower tooth decay was and still is a very serious slip-up. If you’re one to agree with the government fluorinating our water you can only name one benefit of it, which would be the benefit fluoride has when it contacts our teeth. And that’s just it, only when fluoride contacts your teeth it can benefit you, but when you swallow Sodium Fluoride they’re many negative side effects. The same reason we spit out toothpaste is the same reason why we should spit out water with fluoride. Sodium Fluoride harms your body in many ways. •

“Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it.” - Buddha
