riends of Kanye West fear the worst after the 39-year-old rapper was hospitalised in LA for psychiatric evaluation, amid concerns for his own health and safety. Following the cancellation of Ye’s Saint Pablo Tour on November 21 and a week of odd behaviour, police and paramedics were called to celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak’s home when the rapper began ‘acting erratically’ while being assessed by a doctor for severe sleep deprivation. Resistant to be transported to hospital, the rapper was eventually handcuffed to the gurney as he was taken away. ‘He had a psychotic break,’ reveals a friend. ‘There are fears Kanye is having a nervous breakdown,’ another close pal reveals. ‘He’s surrounded by all these crazy people, but there’s nobody he listens to or who can rein him in.’ ‘He’s a mad genius, and he’s spiralling further and further out of control. Basically everything crazy he does is “art,” so he is becoming more and more unpredictable,’ adds the insider. Charlie Sheen’s ex-wife Brooke Mueller was hospitalised for a mental health assessment after a series of disturbing events came to a head mid-November. ‘On the morning of November 16, dispatchers with the Utah Department of Public Safety received a welfare check call from a woman claiming to be the mother of Brooke Mueller,’ Utah police announced in a statement, following reports that Brooke, 39, was seen ‘swinging’ at her and Charlie’s seven-year-old twins, Max and Bob, at a car wash with the family’s nanny. A night earlier, Brooke was seen barefoot at a bar, arguing with the nanny – her sons in tow – while looking for a cigarette. Charlie and the police were instantly informed after bar staﬀ recognised her, but the troubled mother evaded police. But while Brad was cleared in early November by the LA County Department of Children and Family Services of any wrongdoing, the war between the estranged lovers is about to explode – and he has a powerful secret weapon at the ready. ‘Brad is formally in the process of getting Angelina’s psych records from when she was hospitalised at UCLA,’ an insider close to the situation tells OK! exclusively. ‘It was a very difficult time in Angie’s life, but Brad thinks it’s absolutely relevant.’ That ‘difficult time’ came not long before Ange’s 2000 wedding to Oscar-winner Billy Bob Thornton, when she suffered a breakdown after not being able to reach him. ‘I ended up going crazy because I thought I actually lost him,’ she told Larry King in 2001. ‘I didn’t realise how bad it was

I didn’t want to do anything to try to hurt myself.’ So on her doctor’s advice, she was admitted to UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute and placed on a three-day psychiatric hold. ‘I was in a 73-hour hold not to hurt myself or others,’ Angelina confessed. Now, more than 16 years later, it’s come back to haunt her, as she prepares to face off against her estranged husband. For the most part, Brad has remained publicly silent about Angelina. It’s just one part of Brad’s strategy, but it’s a key component.’ At the end of the day, Brad’s goal is to get his kids back with as little collateral damage to the family as possible. ‘All of this is weighing on him very heavily because he doesn’t want to hurt Angie, but he feels there’s no other choice,’ says the insider. ‘The Angie that Brad knew and loved is gone and he is mourning that loss. But he will never stop fighting for his rights as a father.’

hile it’s only been a few weeks, it’s safe to say that The Bachelor’s Richie Strahan, 31, and five-year-old Elijah, the son of his leading lady Alexandra Nation, are attached at the hip – quite literally! At OK!’s exclusive photo shoot at Alex’s Melbourne home last week, Richie and adorable rug rat Elijah – affectionately known as ‘Lij’ or ‘Little Man’ – greet us while the young boy happily hitches a ride on the former Bachelor’s back. Between shots, they practice their ‘man shake’ and high-fiving. ‘It’s definitely a boy’s club,’ admits Alex, 25, who is over the moon with how well her two main men are getting on. Here, she and Richie share the details on the special meeting, co-parenting and reveal their exciting plans for the future.

? Was it all smooth sailing from there? Richie: Even later that day, Elijah totallly he took my breath away. I was sitting on th couch and this little package of fun wass sitting next to me and he puts his arm around d me. I was thinking to myself, ‘Rich, don’t movve and break this moment’. I’ve never been in that t situation before. I’ve never had those feelings, so I’m trying to soak it all up. I remember looking over to Alex thinking, ‘Look what’s happening! Photograph everything!’ [Laughs]

Richie, you and Elijah appear to have built a special bond. When did you ﬁrst meet? Richie: That special moment happened a few weeks ago. Alex: Before that they were on FaceTime a lot and it got to a stage where Elijah was very much like, ‘When can I meet Richie? I really want to meet Richie.’

Did the producers want the meeting to happen on the show? Alex: They did, but they respected any decisions I made about Elijah, and that his dad [Joel] made as well. I care about what he has to say about our son and we always do our absolute best to co-parent together for whatever is best for Elijah.

So how did the meeting happen? Alex: It ended up being very spontaneous. Richie: I flew in quite late and woke up to the little guy with this big grin on his face. Alex: That morning, I said to Lij, ‘I’ve got a surprise in my room’, and he asked, ‘What is it?’ I said, ‘It’s asleep’, and then we went in there… Richie: And I wake up to, ‘Richie!’ and I go, ‘Lij, what’s going on buddy?’ He jumped in, gave me a hug, and then we just chilled there for a bit.

Is Joel happy for you and Richie? Joel’s always been supportive of me. He and Richie have met, that went really well. When it comes to a new partner coming into your life, and he’s a part of Joel’s life in a way now as well, it’s important that the communication is there, that the respect is there and it certainly is. ‘I think I’m doing pretty Alex, there have been some bloody good,’ Richie jokes unsavoury social media posts of taking on a new role in directed your way from Joel’s Elijah’s life. ‘It’s pretty family. Have you spoken to them easy with Elijah, he’s about that? a great kid.’ No, I don’t feel I need to. I know wholeheartedly how much Elijah is loved by his mum, and so do my family and the people that I love and care about, and most importantly Elijah himself. I know

Alex, did your heart melt? I knew it was going to be right, but when it transpired in front of me, that was everything. As a mother, you can’t put into words seeing everything feel so right when the man that’s come into your life meets the most important person in your world. I’m starting to cry now.

Have you done the school run yet? Richie: I have. I carried the little guy’s backpack and we’ve done the [homework] reader, too. Alex: It was so funny, when we rocked up to the school all Lij’s little friends were like, ‘He’s here, Richie’s here!’ Richie: It was pretty funny.

OK! INTERVIEW how good a mum I am, because I strive to be the best mum for him every day. If they want to be negative about [me], and he’s part of their family, that is simply a reflection of them, and they are a little bit ignorant as they obviously don’t know me from a bar of soap. You’ve both copped a bit of ﬂak after the ﬁnale. Was there ever a time where you thought that the trolling had gone too far? Alex: I received death threats. It was after a silly story that came out that I left my exboyfriend Tom to go on the show. People were like, ‘You should go die for doing that!’ But you can’t respond to 12-year-old kids. We looked at their profile, that’s how old these people are, it’s like, ‘Where are your parents?’ Thankfully, it’s eased up a bit now. There have even been apologies from people who at the start were over us like hot rashes with their not liking us. Do you wish more of your love story made it to air? Richie: I wish they showed our blossoming relationship a bit more. It was pretty one-sided. Alex: There were a lot of special moments that I would have loved to have seen on the show. What everyone saw of everything between us was very minimal. Richie: I’d say about two per cent.

WE WANT TO ENJOY THIS FOR WHAT IT IS BEFORE WE START THINKING ABOUT NAPPIES Richie, you plan to move to Melbourne. Have you packed everything up in Perth? Not yet. There’s a lot of things I have to do in Perth before that happens, but it will be soon. It makes more sense me moving to Melbourne as Alex has an amazing support network here, but we’ll always have a home base in Perth. Alex: Yeah, we’ll spend school holidays over there. We want to always be able to visit. Is the plan to move in together? Richie: We’ve spoken about this and there’s no point in me having a place and being in Melbourne by myself, so I guess when I get a place we will look at living there together. 22 WWW.OKMAGAZINE.COM.AU

How do your mum and sister feel about you making the big move? Richie: I think my mum’s biggest concern when she first met Alex was that she was working out in her mind that if we do stay together, it means I was going to move to Melbourne. From a mum’s perspective, she’s like, ‘I’m losing my boy’. But I’ve had many chats with her and assured her that she isn’t losing me, but she just loves me to bits and she’s supportive, and like any loving mum, I think that she is going to miss her boy.

There were recent pictures of you both where it looked like you were ring shopping. Are you considering marriage? Richie: I was doing secret good boyfriend stuff – getting to know what to buy your girl. Now I know she doesn’t like white gold.

Are you planning on taking Elijah over to Perth to meet the family? Richie: Mum can’t wait to meet him. Alex: I would love to go over to Perth with Elijah so he can meet everyone that is important to Richie and who is now important to me. We’ve all become family.

Are either of you interested in a career in the media? Richie: I think it’s fun, and when you are exposed to a show like [The Bachelor], a lot of opportunities come your way, but the reality is you have to have your own jobs. I have a great career in ropes access, but if we were thrown

hen Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden got together, it was a love story for the ages. The picture-perfect pair were forever laughing and enjoying life together, clearly swept up in one another. But it seems the thrill is gone, with the couple said to be on the verge of a split. Talk of marriage troubles has been rife for months, with fertility issues initially said to be coming between the lovebirds. However, now it appears 37-year-old Benji’s relationship with UK singer Jessie J – who he manages with his twin brother Joel – is pushing the duo to breaking point. ‘Cam is furious over how close Benji and Jessie have gotten,’ says an insider. They work together as coaches on The Voice Australia and have become extremely tight since Jessie signed with the Maddens’ management label MDDN. It’s not the first time the 28-year-old star has come between a Madden brother and his missus. Joel also suffered relationship tensions after becoming close to the feisty Brit. ‘It’s like a recurring nightmare,’ tells the insider. ‘Cam watched on in horror as Jessie nearly destroyed her best friend Nicole [Richie’s] marriage to her brother-in-law Joel!’ After Nicole warned Joel to cut it out with Jessie or he could kiss their marriage goodbye, Benji was the one to step in – and boy, has that move backfired. ‘Since Joel and Benji co-manage Jessie, Benji’s had to pick up the slack as Joel stepped back,’ says the insider. ‘Cam’s beginning to think Jessie has a thing for married Madden men. [She] has warned Benji that he’s skating on thin ice.’ Cam, 44, has made it clear in the past that cheating is definitely a deal-breaker for her, revealing she wouldn’t hesitate to end a relationship over it. ‘If he’s a cheater, he’s a cheater,’ she says. ‘Don’t waste your energy focusing on who this woman is, what you think she has that you don’t, or how you can change the guy… Just move on.’ And with Jessie and Benji continuing to blur the lines between client and close friend – she even made a public declaration of her feelings on Instagram, posting an affectionate ‘I love you!’ – insiders fear it could spell the end of Cam and Benji’s marriage. ‘Benji has even travelled to London with Jessie, while Cam is left stewing back in LA,’ says the mole. ‘It makes Cam’s blood boil! hen a person looks as fit, healthy and downright gorgeous as Pia Miller, it’s hard to believe that they could ever be lacking in self-confidence. But body demons aren’t choosy about who they prey on! ‘I’ve never really felt comfortable doing a photo shoot wearing sportswear or swimwear,’ Pia reveals. ‘But since taking the role on Home and Away, and my character is in swimwear, I’ve really had to go, “Right, I have to embrace this and be cool with it, or I’m going to shy away from it all the time.” That’s when I started working out and changed my mindset about taking care of my body and myself. ‘I am a firm believer in the 80/20 rule,’ she explains. ‘Eighty per cent healthy, 20 per cent treat. Depriving myself of certain foods has never worked for me.’ And Pia’s just as dedicated to her sweat

sessions. ‘My workout philosophy is to combine weights or high-cardio with a low-impact regime like yoga or Pilates for rest and recovery,’ explains the 33-yearold. ‘Being on TV definitely is motivation enough to try to stay fit and healthy, but I need motivation when I am training. I usually try to see a personal trainer once or twice week – I need the push.’ The model-turned-actress remains pragmatic about balancing work life, mum life and gym life. ‘If I can’t exercise due to work or family, then so be it – I don’t let it consume me or take over,’ she admits. In fact, the Chilean-born beauty believes mixing exercise and quality time with her two boys, Isaiah, 14, and Lennox, 10, is ‘a win-win n’. ‘Surfing with the kids, heading down to the park after work or going to schoo ol sport is always a good way to y combine the two,’ she says.

Lara Worthington New mum-of-two Lara relies on Rodney to whip her into shape. ‘My routine is all mat work,’ she explains. ‘Lots of sit-ups and leg lifts at high repetition and at low weight – no more than 5kg. I also have a leg routine, lots of dog lifts, kickbacks, just all core and body work. You’ll have to hit the ground running, because her trainer Justin likes to put his model clients through their paces. ‘I make sure all my models run,’ he says. ‘The cardiovascular system helps them stay lean and ﬁt.’ The Aussie stunner, 33, keeps her pins in tiptop condition with leg extensions, leg presses and calf raises. ‘She’ll do 20 leg kicks each side, and then balance on one foot holding a ball or weight for 30 seconds,’ Justin reveals. ‘She’ll do three sets on each leg.’ Next, it’s the glutes. ‘Lay on the ground on your back, put your legs up on a stability ball, lift your hips up and down. Do three sets of 15 reps,’ Justin recommends.

Now drop that butt oﬀ the seat, toward the ground. Try to get to 90 degrees – but no lower – then lift and repeat. Want to blast your whole bod? Go for a plank with a twist! ‘Try holding and squeezing a rolled towel between the knees [as you hold plank position],’ suggests Tim. The former Bachelor also has healthy eating down pat, with a formula of ‘70 per cent super clean, 20 per cent sensible and 10 per cent relaxed’.

It’s like having a baby – you put two things together and all of the sudden it bursts into a new thing. You jetted home to Barbados in October. Is the island still a big part of you? Yes. Everything, from school life, to my home life, to my culture – you are who you are and there’s that foundation that has been built for 16 years before I moved to America, so no matter what, I have always stayed close to my family and my friends and people from home. I always go back home, I always try to stay close to that and never lose that. You had a tough childhood though, right? I definitely had to learn fast how to ignore things or not let it bother me. From the time I was very young, I was teased about being bi-racial. Then when I got older, it was about my breasts. But I’m not victimised – I’m grateful. I think those experiences were strategically put together by God for the preparation of being in the music industry. It’s so easy for me to deal with the bullshit now. You don’t shy away from sexy photo shoots or getting your gear off. Are you super body confident? No. I don’t think anybody really is 100 per cent. I mean, you get comfortable with the fact that that’s your body. After doing that on oing that in the mirror because it was like, ‘OK, whatever, I feel fat today’, but what can you really do about it? You have to just accept your body. Do you struggle with selfonfidence in your career? specially with Anti... I went hrough so many emotions nd roller-coasters of feeling ood, loving it, hating it, oubting myself, hating myself… ventually you just need to know ho you are. You know when mething is you. rew an extra-large pot of coffee, order the pizza, and find the cosiest spot on the couch – Gilmore Girls is back! A Year in the Life is the reboot we’ve been waiting for since 2007, and all signs point to it being ah-mazing. Obviously, the show couldn’t return without leading ladies Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory (Alexis Bledel) at the helm, who are joined by Lorelai’s beau Luke (Scott Patterson), Rory’s BFF Lane (Keiko Agena), the ever-lovable Sookie (Melissa McCarthy), and a bunch of familiar faces from the Stars Hollow crew. Fans are going nuts ahead of the Netflix release, which is split into four episodes based on the seasons, and have been hard at work trawling for spoilers, hints and every tidbit they can find. ‘I need this now more than ever,’ commented one Gilmore Girls devotee ahead of the show’s November 25 release date. ‘I can’t freaking wait!’ said another. But oy with the poodles already – we’ve tracked down the real dirt on the revival from the show’s stars, Lauren and Alexis!

The show’s speedy dialogue and rapid-fire quips are famous! How difficult was it to get back into old rhythms? Lauren: It was literally like no time had passed. It was not difficult. It was fun. It brought me back to the first time I read for this part and fell in love with it. I just couldn’t believe I got to do it again. Alexis: Yeah, jumping back in, it really was as if no time had passed. It’s all on the page. [Creator/writer Amy Sherman-Palladino’s] writing just informs you right away. You know how it’s supposed to be said, and it’s all th So how did the idea of doing a reboot come about? Lauren: We’ve been talking about it I feel, like, since the day the old show ended. And I think the first step was, ‘Is there willingness? If we could make it happen, would we?’ And from there, I mean, literall until the night before we were filming, I don’t think we had everybody. That’s why it just doesn’t happen in a linear way. So ye we’ve been talking about it for so, so, so lon That was part of the relief and joy of actuall getting to do it, because I think we ended up getting to do it in the perfect way. Alexis, can you tell us how Rory’s past loves fit into in A Year in the Life?

Alexis: Well, we’re not supposed to disclose where we pick up with her romantic life, but all of her ex-boyfriends make an appearance in these chapters in one way or another, and it was great to work with all of them again. So much of the discussion around the show involves who Rory’s going to end up with. Do you ever wish people would talk about other aspects of her life? Alexis: It’s kind of interesting, I guess that’s what people are excited about… But there is so much more to her character… It is great when people focus on those things – on her ambition and her accomplishments and her goals. And that was what was so great about [the cast reunion at the] ATX Festival, because we had such intelligent fans coming up and asking all kinds of questions. They clearly had watched every episode and they knew this character backwards and forwards and were able to really focus on those other things about her. Lauren, how about Lorelai’s love-life? Does she have one?! Lauren: She does have a love-life. In the wake of losing Ed [Herrmann, who played Lorelai’s father Richard and passed away in 2014], which was – and still is – a great loss for us personally, it was also part of our story that we we’re telling… the journey of how everyone

is sort of recovering. I mention that because it plays into all the choices the characters are making. So, through dealing with that, [Lorelai] makes some decisions. What does it mean to you personally to be involved in something that is so revered? Alexis: It’s amazing to know that people are eagerly awaiting the release of these episodes and that they have loved the show all these years. It’s incredible. It’s why we do this – to be able to communicate something that people are going to love and talk about. Lauren: For me, it was just an incredible experience. It’s like getting a chance to go to college when you’re really ready, you know, when you really get what an incredible opportunity you have. We were given the gift to go back knowing those things and it just felt really emotional. It was a rare opportunity. Tell us about Melissa McCarthy coming back and making an appearance! Lauren: She came on one of our last days and it was just incredible. Had that not happened, we would have felt a gap in what we were trying to do. It just made it perfect – even more perfect with her. But that’s how it was with everything. Everything was like, ‘Oh, here’s the chemistry we had from the very first day we met’, and it was just a joy to revisit.

•2 cups self-raising ﬂour •30g chilled butter, chopped •1 cup milk, extra for brushing •1 egg, beaten •1⁄3 cup cauliﬂower relish or

piccalilli, plus extra to serve •1⁄2 cup grated gruyère cheese •2 tsp sesame seeds •Sliced prosciutto, cheddar cheese, to serve, if liked

If liked, add a pinch of salt to the ﬂour when sifting. This is optional but it does enhance the ﬂavour of the scones.

1 Preheat oven to 220°C. Lightly grease a scone tray. 2 Sift flour into a large bowl. Using fingertips, lightly rub in butter. Make a well in centre. 3 Pour in combined milk and egg all at once, reserving 1 tablespoon. Using a butter knife, mix quickly to a soft, sticky dough. Do not over-mix. 4 Turn onto a lightly floured surface. Knead lightly. Gently roll out to form a 20 x 30cm rectangle. Spread with relish and sprinkle cheese over. Roll up from short edge. 5 Place on tray, tucking open ends under. Brush with reserved liquid and sprinkle seeds over. 6 Bake for 35-40 minutes or until loaf sounds hollow when tapped. Cover with foil if browning too quickly. 7 Cool on a wire rack. Serve sliced with prosciutto, cheddar cheese and extra relish, if liked.

aving never celebrated his birthday in the past due to his family’s financial struggles, Isaiah Firebrace’s 17th is one he’ll never forget – it’s the day he also took out The X Factor 2016 crown, and changed his life forever. ‘Over the years, [my family] has had hard financial difficulties, and it’s been hard to cope,’ says Isaiah, who has always worked to help support his loved ones. ‘I’m so glad that winning The X Factor means that now I can help out my family even more,’ explains the singer, whose first single It’s Gotta Be You is already climbing the charts. While performing overseas is the goal for the youngster career-wise, when it comes to goals, Isaiah also has a very personal one. ‘The dream is to one day buy a house for the family,’ he tells OK!. ‘It would be a really

good thing to do, but first up I want to take my family on a holiday – they are probably even more stressed out than I am!’ Spending time away from his hometown of Moama in Southern NSW is something Isaiah is going to have to get used to. ‘I know that I’m probably going to have to move to Melbourne or Sydney,’ he says, explaining that America would be the ultimate destination he’d like to crack musically.
