Welcome to 1440 1440 Multiversity is a learning destination unlike any other, designed to support new and comprehensive approaches to the professional development of the whole person, inviting discoveries that will shape new ways of being and leading, in the workplace and in life. Beyond a university’s focus on the intellect, a multiversity is a place for holistic learning that engages the heart, mind, and body—the whole person. At 1440, we believe that the deepest learning happens when people nurture and awaken all aspects of their personal and professional selves. The expansive 75-acre campus, forged in a 1,000-year-old redwood forest, is ideal for spending extended time together in problem-solving, collaboration, and connection, nestled in the California coastal foothills near Santa Cruz with easy access from San Jose, Oakland, or San Francisco. With flexible and unique indoor and outdoor meeting venues, plan a private organizational offsite or attend an immersive learning program taught by some of the brightest minds in leadership and personal development. All of your time on campus includes daily signature classes, nutritious farm-to-table dining, use of our 1440 Fitness and Healing Arts centers, and access to 4 miles of trails in the surrounding forest.

The Leadership Center We are dedicated to making a meaningful contribution to the way leadership and organizational life are practiced, concentrating on personal authenticity, trust building, and energy-producing outcomes. The 1440 environment will help you to know yourself, to sharpen your essential leadership qualities, and to discover new solutions to today’s problems. High-potential leaders leave here with an increased ability to inspire, motivate, and empower others. By integrating classroom and experiential learning, contemplative practices, and group dialogue, the 1440 approach centers on three authentic leadership principles you can master and share with your organization: 1. The Self: discovering how to become aware of one’s own inner life, thought patterns, and shadow motivations. 2. Relationships: understanding how to relate to others with greater compassion, empathy, and respect. 3. Lifestyle: producing the energy, resilience, and focus needed to meet leadership challenges.

The process of becoming a leader is much the same as the process for becoming an integrated human being. For the leader, as for any integrated person, life itself is the career. Warren Bennis, On Becoming a Leader

Dining at Kitchen Table The heart of sustenance and social connection on the 1440 campus is Kitchen Table. All guests gather together daily to share breakfast, lunch, and dinner here regardless of their program and have conversations that matter. Guests are welcome to enter and dine anytime during each two-hour service period. The menus at Kitchen Table change daily and feature a variety of seasonal ingredients prepared using healthy cooking techniques and are personally plated and served to each guest. We source all produce from local farms, harvest herbs and edible flowers from our own gardens, and procure only organic meats and seafood from partners dedicated to sustainable and humane practices. Kitchen Table is purposefully designed for all guests on campus to enjoy each meal as one community while affording guests their choice of lighter fare or hearty favorites. 1440 offers all guests a wide selection of locally crafted beer and wine varietals at dinner service. Groups and organizations may customize any meal service by upgrading to a private dining location that may be purchased and reserved exclusively for their use.
