Introduction

My FMP is a newspaper about punk health. I will use the plane representation of the newspaper to represent the phenomenon of punk health. Punk health is a phenomenon that appears in contemporary teenagers. This phenomenon refers to the behavior of contemporary young people self-destruction while saving themselves. Because I am also affected by this phenomenon, I set my FMP's subject as punk health.

Context and aims : Definition of punk health refers to a contemporary youth side seek death while selfhelp health way."Punk" means unruly youth, and "health" corresponds to the helplessness of aging. The combination of the two reflects the contradiction of growth. Initial concepts : I will design the newspaperin a critical way.which will reflect the contradictory psychological state of young people and reflect the advantages and disadvantages of this state of mind. This design project embodies the contradictory psychology and unruly life attitude of contemporary youth. Reflect the process of self-destruction and self-salvation of contemporary youth in the form of design.

Field of study

04

As a quietly emerging phenomenon of youth subculture, "punk health" manifests itself in the practice of contradictory complexes, and applies the cultural struggle of resistance and compromise in the real world. In order to explore the practical turn of youth subcultures, with the help of subculture research paradigms, the paradox-like infinite cycle of "identity and loss" was determined, and the reproduction of entertainment, innovation and power through the representation of contradictions was clearly defined. The continuous and gentle rebellion creates the traction of refusing to repay, which is a confirmation and deconstruction of the structural contradiction between primary and secondary, and it is also the cultural practice of young people's imaginative resolution of contradictions.

Contemporary adolescent subculture

Under the influence of the rapid spread of social media on the Internet, the sub-cultural characteristics it has also aroused widespread concern in society. Based on the perspective of young people, using the subculture research framework, combined with the new medium of subculture using Internet technology as the main means, try to explore the subculture characteristics of punk health. And think about the reason of this phenomenon and its application in graphic design with critical thinking mode.

The concept of subculture and punk health Punk health is an important form of subculture that is active in the current youth population, which essentially stems from the characteristics and habits of contemporary young people. At the same time, this phenomenon is also a resistance and impact on the traditional concepts in the traditional sense. But the ‘healthcare’ in punk wellness reflects to a great extent the young people ’s compromise and recognition of authoritative values. This continued collision of confrontation and compromise has profoundly affected the daily life of the young people in the form of relative alienation. For contemporary young people, punk health is an exaggerated lifestyle that is both "punk" and "healthy." Therefore, strictly speaking, punk health is not a purely cultural form, but an expression of the young people's efficient communication based on the Internet, and it is also an important performance of the current youth subculture. Definition of punk health refers to a contemporary youth side seek stimulus while self-help health way. Punk means unruly youth and health corresponds to the helplessness of aging. The combination of the two reflects the contradiction of growth.

Punk health and subculture Subculture is a cultural phenomenon active in the current society. The popularity of this cultural phenomenon in recent years cannot be separated from the rapid development of Internet technology. Its new media space is also an important manifestation of the Internet powerful influence. For young people, they are deeply influenced by Internet technology during their growth. In particular, the contemporary young people have witnessed the change of Internet technology from scratch, from professional technology to universal culture. In the cultural value system using the Internet as a medium, young people also play a key role. With the help of the Internet powerful communication capabilities, their cultural preferences are transformed into diversified popular elements. Example of punk health 1.Stay up late while besmear expensive skin care products; 2.Drink beer with a few wolf berry; 3. Coke and ginger drink together;

The research on subculture in the traditional research system focuses on the marginal, subversive and critical nature of subculture. Western scholars have achieved a series of constructive results in this field of study, such as the Chicago School of the United States in the last century. The term subculture was proposed in the 1950s as a term to describe urban deviant groups; the Birmingham School of England believed that the emergence of subculture originated from youth ’s outstanding problems in hegemony and historical culture, which laid the foundation Keynote of subculture research.

In the context of the rapid development of Internet technology, subculture has broken through the shackles of traditional models. The emergence of new media spaces has provided a broader platform for its influence to expand. Its class resistance and rebellious characteristics are to a certain extent. Weakened by the above, it is gradually transformed into a social symbol that can arouse social attention and create an online entertainment carnival environment.

Stylized symbolic expression The British Birmingham School has always regarded "style" as its important symbol in the process of researching subcultures. In a sense, the resistance and even the rebellious style of traditional subcultures are inseparable from stylized symbolic expressions. Symbol expression is not only a means of releasing signals and enhancing influence, but also a major connotation of its unique style in the process of subculture development. In the 1960s, influenced by the social, political, and economic environment at that time, some young people in Britain and the United States demonstrated their resistance to traditional values behavior. The youth group imitated the upsurge of participation, and the diversified subcultures also ushered in development opportunities. At present, the rapid development of Internet technology and the continuous expansion of the new media space of subcultures have largely broken the time and space restrictions of traditional cultural transmission.

Therefore, young people no longer need to resort to physical expression to reflect the cultural style they admire. , The representation symbol has become the basic means of conveying emotions and preferences. In the middle, network language is a very distinctive and striking symbolic symbol. With the continuous maturity of Internet technology, the network language is not limited to pure text expression, but covers text, pictures, emoticons, videos and many other content. These rich symbolic languages integration of life The elements that are opposite to health and the elements that can eliminate their hazards, such as "beer with wolfberry", have a strong contrast. While seizing the "smiles" of the young people, they can also trigger their lifestyles.

Focus

22

From the initial manifestation of the “occupation” of the youth subculture ethnic group ’s field space to the subculture of youth subculture and external real world under the support of new media technology, the hidden “natural” expression space created, and then to Today's discourse symbols that re-permeate the real world relying on the textual elements in the abundant primary and secondary structure, what can support the survival of "punk health" is resistance, all for the purpose of rebellion. It is only through style resistance that it is possible to deviate the original symbol from its original meaning, and thus be included in the subcultural discourse sequence, resulting in a tendency of meaning based on resistance. It can be said that every link in which "punk health" is formed shows a sense of resistance. According to the junction theory, it can be concluded that the connection of "punk health" is clearly referred to, that is, to frustrate the dilemma between the youth and the dominant culture. Secondly, by joining to point to specific contradictions, an expression that responds to the calls of subordination and is directed against ruling resistance is achieved, and the unification of "punk" and "health" is connected to form a new unity and solve the problem. More importantly, these individuals or complete experiences are simultaneously preserved or ablated, maintaining unique patterns and conditions of existence, forming a silent “punk” catharsis and authoritative “health”power.

We can know that although the phenomenon of punk health can release the rebellious psychology of adolescents, it will also have a serious impact on the health of adolescents. This is why I made this newspaper. I want to let more people know about punk health through this newspaper. "Punk health" as a quietly emerging network subculture, attempts to bid farewell to the plight hidden in the real world in a post-modern broken way, through contradictory game carnival, innovative resistance compromise, free flow of media, identity Replacement positioning, etc., diluted and dismantled the dominance of the overall structure, and made efforts to build a new ideology for the network subculture. In order to alleviate the current state of anxiety of contemporary youth or suspend their false selfhelp, this phenomenon needs to be viewed from a more tolerant and understanding perspective. At the same time, we must actively guide the output direction of the youth network, establish a scientific and reasonable network subculture guidance mechanism, and then ensure that the subculture media community can develop harmoniously for a long time.

Can Graphic Design Save Your Life?

Hospital waiting rooms, antibiotic packaging and flu prevention posters are not renowned for their striking graphics. But a new exhibition at London’s Wellcome Collection will show how design plays a fundamental part in the healthcare sector, whether we are conscious of it or not. Can Graphic Design Save Your Life? will include 200 objects – such as posters, informational films and campaigns, pill packets, books and hospital signage and interiors – which demonstrate that graphic design can be persuasive, shocking and perhaps even instrumental in healing.

This set of 25 vintage postcards showcases the style and wit of 20th-century public health campaigns: iconic graphic design devised to admonish, amuse, inform and empower. Published to accompany the Wellcome Collection exhibition, ‘Can Graphic Design Save Your Life?’, this fascinating collection of historical images highlights how graphic design has been used to shape behaviour and attitudes towards everything – from the spread of germs to drink driving.

Can Graphic Design Save Your Life? explores “widespread and subliminal” impact of design on health.

Malcolm Garrett’s Orgasm Addict artwork is redesigned 120 times to mark its 40th Anniversary

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Buzzcocks’ single Orgasm Addict, a new exhibition sees 120 creatives reworking the original cover for a new exhibition. Curated by the original designer Malcolm Garrett and DR.ME, the only restrictions given were that the designs had to use the original blue and yellow Pantone 286 colours and be sized at 7×7 inches. Contributions from all over the world were received including work by Bráulio Amado, Catalogue, Peter Saville, Eve Warren, Mariel Osborn and many more. “From the first meeting we had with Malcolm we outlined that we wanted to try and have as equal a split of female to male designers as possible involved. This was to celebrate the gender split cover design of the original sleeve with the brilliant collage artist Linder Sterling’s feminist piece being turned upside down and stripped back to a more graphic blue and yellow by Malcolm,” explains Mark Edwards of DR.ME. “It’s also become a worrying trend in design exhibitions that they are highly male-centric so we wanted to address this, if I was harsh I would say we failed as the split isn’t 50/50!”

The idea for the exhibition was conceived by Design Manchester and the artworks will be on display at bars and restaurants around the city for the duration of the event. “There will be oversized artworks in public spaces,” says Mark. “We wanted Peter Saville’s work to go into a porn shop in the northern quarter because the QR code he created for his cover takes you to a pretty NSFW video.” Exhibitions of the Orgasm Addict Reframed can be found in the window of art shop Fred Aldous and The Refuge, where there will be a preview on 18 October.

What led to the emergence of punk health ďź&#x;

"Punk health" young people often choose nightclubs and raves in the middle of the night. The neon lights flash quickly. The strong electrical sound stimulates the fatigued nerves. The body swings wildly with the rhythm of the music. The screams of mountains and rivers are one after another. There is a "darkness", deep water bombs (mixed with different wine types), and so on. The crowded and huge crowd deepens the excitement, especially in the center of the dance floor, feeling the squeeze from the body.The formation of a huge centripetal force that completely liberates itself and releases rebellious desires, trampling on the body shell without spirit. This multiple joint is the essence of anti-dominant culture, so that the youth can be completely immersed in the environment without rules. Indescribable happiness and satisfaction. In that restless situation, the limited identity was trampled on and made a breakthrough in the “temporary space of Bundy, creating an unstructured, self-controlled space still, its individual ability to dissolve and banish , Perfectly embodies the restless way of resistance that young people evade domination during the day and seek emotional venting at night.

The symbolic remedy after indulgence can be said to be a "moderate rebellion" that makes up for the dominant structure, and also provides a way of resistance that is different from that of ordinary youth: directly or deliberately through words, deeds, and values Authority center. After bouncing, wear an expensive facial mask that moisturizes and brightens, in the real world to cover the embarrassed face after being vented by the Lord and myself, and also establishes a connection channel for his extradition to the limited identity of the guest and me. The rich fragrance is lingering, experiencing the freedom to switch from the body to feel spiritually empty, put on the steam sleep goggles, completely evade into the dominant structure, placed in the quiet state of being cared for, and then in the blend of carnival and serenity , Enjoy the identity switch brought by a series of joining forces, thus providing a guarantee for the next resistance practice.

"Punk Health" in terms of physical self-rescue, dietary return and life's make-up, etc., created a strong attraction of traditional elements as the core and exclusive resistance of aggregation, reflecting the members under the shadow of the dominant Acceptance and rejection of the outside world, thereby creating a sense of loyalty and strong effective recognition of the "health" circle, and through the spread of different "substyles", the overlap between the individual and the circle and the external coverage are further expanded , Strengthened the effect of direct dialogue with the central authority, to alleviate and disperse the repressive force of the dominant structure, exemplified the tenacious attitude to survive in the cracks, symbolizing their shift from the haze of social discipline to the light received, In particular, this turn is built on a compromise content expressed in a form of rebellion, which also implies that young individuals have a strong rebellion against the intrinsic material of "punk health", and have been teased and mocked in the aim of compromise. direction.

In this way, in the process of venting emotions and empowering the switch, there is a connection space that is vaguely broken and tough, relying on the completion of the movement into it to get rid of the original free state, and obtain changeable identity replacement and short-lived. Manipulation of power creates conditions for resisting authoritarian rule and winning victory. "Punk health" pursues and believes in different practical expressions, including all strange costumes, grotesque manners, restless music, and irrelevant health work and maintenance concepts, suggesting that all the elements that can be connected can be used Consent and being created have both resistance to the manifestation of self and dependence on the dominant culture. This symbolic solution to individual conflicts is not achieved through a contradictory meaning, but through the opposite "style" as a To achieve this kind of behavior, to be more precise, "punk health" is not to construct a completed meaning to achieve the signified and ideological, but to devote to the heterogeneous free signifier in the cultural system to complete the " Meaningful creativity. "

Although the phenomenon of punk health can release the rebellious psychology of adolescents, it also has a serious impact on the health of adolescents. This is why I wanted to make a graduation project on the theme of punk health. I want to let more people know about punk health through my graduation project. "Punk health" as a quietly emerging network subculture, attempts to bid farewell to the real world in a post-modern broken way through contradictory game revelry, innovative resistance compromise, free circulation of media, identity replacement positioning Dilemma. In order to alleviate the current state of anxiety of contemporary youth or suspend their false self-help, this phenomenon needs to be viewed from a more tolerant and understanding perspective. At the same time, we must actively guide the output direction of the youth network, establish a scientific and reasonable network subculture guidance mechanism, and then ensure that the subculture media community can develop harmoniously for a long time.

Personal Reflection

66

The concept of my work comes from a subculture-punk health popular in today's youth society. The reason for this culture is because of the advent of the Internet era and the increasing pressure on young people ’s lives in recent years. The modern social environment has caused this phenomenon for most teenagers. In daily life, most teenagers cannot reasonably control their own pace of life. And this phenomenon is also reflected in my own life. In my work I used a two-tone color scheme. After my research and experiments, I finally chose purple and green. Purple represents punk and green represents health. I want to use the collision of these two colors to reflect the punk health and the contradictory psychology of contemporary teenagers. I think we pay more attention to our health. You can't destroy your body too much because you are young. That's why I made this work. In terms of typesetting, I think I should have a deeper understanding and research and study. I will work harder to learn related knowledge and become a better self. In a year in the UK, I deepened my research in graphic design. At the same time, I have more knowledge about graphic design. I think designers should be a profession with social responsibility. In the future, I will be responsible for design and society.
