The site which I chose is the DongSi district in Beijing, where there are many hutongs. The streets are divided from one to fourteen east hutongs, which is one of the well-preserved hutongs in Beijing.

SENSORY REPRODUC TION The Comfor t Women Memorial Hall Advisor: Ying-Chang Yu Year: 2018 As the scale of architecture grows, the number of single buildings based on whole blocks grows, dividing the city under our feet into o n e i s l a n d a f t e r a n o t h e r. T h e s e b u i l d i n g s s t a n d l i k e s c u l p t u r e s i n the city and the meaning of existence in the city changes. Architecture is to ser ve the users inside the building, this argument may no longer be true, we should give the "sculpture" in the city a commemorative meaning, not only to ser ve the users inside b u t a l s o t o a ff e c t t h e p e o p l e a r o u n d . Ta k i n g t h e v i o l e n t a e s t h e t i c fi l m a s t h e s t a r t i n g o f t h e d e s i g n , t h r e e s e n s e s o f w a t c h i n g t h e fi l m a r e d e v e l o p e d , n a m e l y t h e s e n s e of oppression, the sense of suspense, and the sense of panic. PROTOT YPE

MODEL_PROTOT YPE

Imagine a claustrophobic, towering space where the beams of light seem to be squeezed, leaking through the gashed cracks in the walls of the building, creating a sense of oppression for those b e l o w.

The sense of oppression originates from the n a r r o w s p a c e , c r e a t i n g a fi s s u r e l i k e o p e n i n g i n t h e high side, the ground is slightly inclined, like a slice of space, and what I imagine is a corridor composed of multiple slices. People walk ing in the c o r r i d o r a r e u n e a s y, a n d t h e s e n s e o f o p p r e s s i o n i s also gradually increasing.

CONCEPT

MODEL_CONCEPT

The explicit posture formed when the internal space is combined creates a corridor by the space between the volume. The slit in the volume is an opportunity for the external person to see the internal information, and the light through the crack will strengthen the sense of oppression.

When a lot of corridors are combined, it is just like a lot of cracks formed by multiple volumes. The cracks are external space, while the corresponding internal space can create a variety of cracks. The c r a c k s o f d i ff e r e n t s i z e s w i l l a l s o c r e a t e d i ff e r e n t feelings of light.

PROTOT YPE

MODEL_PROTOT YPE

Referring to the movie <rear window >, the information originally blocked by the wall is revealed through the window one by one, the information is incomplete, we need to guess what happened behind it.

The model is made of face -shaped materials. I choose acrylic to spray it with foggy face dots. Each face has a small opening, which causes visual g a z e a n d b a r r i e r l a y e r b y l a y e r, m a k i n g p e o p l e unable to guess what happened behind, to deepen people's suspicion of the internal space.

CONCEPT

MODEL_CONCEPT

I m a g i n e a c u t o ff i n t e r n a l s p a c e t o h a v e a n e x p l i c i t a t t i t u d e , l a y e r b y l a y e r c u t o ff, l e t a p e r s o n v a g u e l y k n o w, a n d c a n n o t g u e s s w h a t h a p p e n e d b e h i n d , above the opening is to shape the rear window through the opening staring at the feeling.

PROTOT YPE

MODEL_PROTOT YPE

People are afraid of being imprisoned in a claustrophobic space. They look at the relationship between imprisonment and imprisonment from the third perspective and shape the feeling of this horrible imprisonment in the darkness with the fence symbol.

Monitored and monitoring can be converted into e a c h o t h e r. P e o p l e i n s i d e w i l l n o t k n o w w h e n s o m e o n e o u t s i d e w i l l a p p e a r, w h i c h i s a k i n d o f i r r e g u l a r f e a r. P e o p l e o u t s i d e w i l l n o t k n o w t h e internal scene, which will also generate a kind of f e a r.

CONCEPT

MODEL_CONCEPT

To c r e a t e a s e n s e o f c o n fi n e m e n t i n a n e n c l o s e d space with a window similar to that of a fence d u r i n g c o n fi n e m e n t , l i g h t i s c r u c i a l t o s u c h a claustrophobic space and can create another fence symbol that you want to read.

I want to show that when people walk in an exhibition space, they play the role of prisoners and p r i s o n e r s . W h e n t h e y w a l k i n t o t h e i n t e r i o r, t h e y are the ones being watched. When they walk in upper space, they play the role of monitors.

Step_03. Plant certain types of vegetation that has the ability of absorbing heavy metal.

Step_05. The first round of purifying is complete and the rain washes away the contamination into a pond.

This system requires a spatially stepping distribution of the parterres ponds and containers.

NEW PLAN

TO BE DECIDED

Beijing is suffering from dust storms because of the infertile land. Air-filled with particulate matter darkens the sky. In the past heavy industry has caused too much air pollution.

Step_02. Implement parterre on the concrete and insert the stirred soil

Step_04. The clean soil grows the plant for the botanical park.

Step_06. Absorbed by aquatic plant the purified water goes down to the rebuild container.

I hope to create a large scale botanical park open to the public, to fight against the fact that the site was once the reason for the pollution, in order to achieve the green reformation of the industrial land.
