SAFETY

PRECAUTIONARYSTATEMENTS

Acarefuloperatoristhebestoperator.Mostaccidentscanbeavoidedbyobservingcertainprecautions.Tohelp preventaccidents,readthefollowingprecautionsbeforeoperatingthisequipment.Equipmentshouldbeoperatedonlybythosewhoareresponsibleandinstructedtodoso.

Carefullyreviewtheproceduresgiveninthismanualwithalloperators.Itisimportantthatalloperatorsbefamiliar withandfollowsafetyprecautions.

1.AlwaysdisengagethePTO,lockthetractor brakes,andshutoffthetractorengine before:

• Leavingthetractorseat.

• Lubricating.

• Cleaningorunplugginganypartofthe machine.

• Adjustingthemachine.

2.Alwayslowertheheadertothegroundor engagethetransportstopswhenparking.

3.Alwaysusetheheadertransportstopsand spring-loadedtonguesafetylockwhen transportingthemachine.

4.Neverworkunderaraisedheaderunlessitis securelylockedwiththeheadertransport stops.

5.Alwaysblockthewheelsbeforeworkingon orunderthemachine.

6.Donotstartthemachineuntilyouknowthat everyoneisclearofthemachineandhave madesurenotoolsarelyingonit.

7.Keepallshieldsinplace.Neverworkaround themachineinlooseclothingthatcould catchinamovingpart.

ECOLOGYANDTHEENVIRONMENT

Soil,air,andwaterarevitalfactorsofagricultureand lifeingeneral.Whenlegislationdoesnotyetruleon thetreatmentofsomeofthesubstanceswhichare requiredbyadvancedtechnology,commonsense shouldgoverntheuseanddisposalofproductsofa chemicalandpetrochemicalnature.

Thefollowingarerecommendationswhichmaybeof assistance:

• Becomeacquaintedwithandensurethatyou understandtherelativelegislationapplicableto yourcountry.

• Wherenolegislationexists,obtaininformation fromsuppliersofoils,filters,batteries,fuels, antifreeze,cleaningagents,etc.,withregardto theireffectonmanandnatureandhowtosafely store,useanddisposeofthesesubstances. Agriculturalconsultantswill,inmanycases,be abletohelpyouaswell.

HELPFULHINTS

1.Avoidfillingtanksusingcansorinappropriate pressurizedfueldeliverysystemswhichmay causeconsiderablespillage.

2.Ingeneral,avoidskincontactwithallfuels,oils, acids,solvents,etc.Mostofthemcontain substanceswhichmaybeharmfultoyourhealth.

3.Modernoilscontainadditives.Donotburn contaminatedfuelsandorwasteoilsinordinary heatingsystems.

4.Avoidspillagewhendrainingoffusedengine coolantmixtures,engine,gearboxandhydraulic oils,brakefluids,etc.Donotmixdrainedbrake fluidsorfuelswithlubricants.Storethemsafely untiltheycanbedisposedofinaproperwayto complywithlocallegislationandavailable resources.

5.Moderncoolantmixtures,i.e.antifreezeand otheradditives,shouldbereplacedeverytwo years.Theyshouldnotbeallowedtogetintothe soilbutshouldbecollectedanddisposedof safely.

6.Donotopentheair-conditioningsystemyourself. Itcontainsgaseswhichshouldnotbereleased intotheatmosphere.Yourdealerorair conditioningspecialisthasaspecialextractorfor thispurposeandwillhavetorechargethesystem properly.

7.Repairanyleaksordefectsintheenginecooling orhydraulicsystemimmediately.

8.Donotincreasethepressureinapressurized circuitasthismayleadtoacomponentfailure.

9.Protecthosesduringweldingaspenetrating weldsplattermayburnaholeorweakenthem, allowingthelossofoils,coolant,etc.

LUBRICATION

Adequatelubricationandmaintenanceonaregular scheduleisvitaltomaintainingyourequipment.To ensurelongserviceandefficientoperation,followthe lubricationandmaintenanceschedulesoutlinedin thismanual.Theuseofproperfuels,oils,greaseand filters,aswellaskeeping thesystemsclean,willalso extendmachineandcomponentlife.

IMPORTANT: Alwaysusegenuine NewHolland replacementparts,oilsandfilterstoensureproper operation,filtrationof engineandhydraulicsystems. Seeyour NewHolland dealerforadditionaloil quantities.

GENERALINFORMATION

Regularlubricationisthebestinsuranceagainst delaysandrepairs.Properlubricationwillextend machinelife.Refertothefollowingchartsfor lubricantsandserviceintervals.

IMPORTANT: Failuretocompletetherequired maintenanceattherecommendedintervalscan causeunnecessarydowntime.

TheintervalslistedintheLubricationChartare guidelinestobeusedwhenoperatinginnormal conditions.Adjusttheintervalsforoperatingin adverseenvironmentalandworkingconditions.The intervalsshouldbeshortenedforsandy,dustyand extremelyhotoperatingconditions.

Thetoolboxcanberemovedfromtheunitby removinghairpincotter,1,andtippingthetoolboxup offthesupportbracket.

Toreinstallthetoolbox,positionthelipofthetoolbox overthetopofthebracketweldedtothetongue,and tipthetoolboxdownovertheclip.Openthetoolbox lidandinstallthehairpincotter,1,throughtheclipto retainthetoolbox.

Thesafetychain,1,shownisintendedtokeepthe machineundercontrolintheeventoflossorfailure ofthehitchpin.

Loopthehookendofthechainaroundthetractor drawbarsupport,asshown.Depressthespringloadedhookpivotpin.Slidethehooklockchannelon thepinslotsothechannelcanbepivoted90 degrees.

Engagethehookonachainlink,realignthelock channelwiththehooktip,andslidethechannelso thepivotpinsnapsintothelargerendoftheslot. Leavesufficientslackinthechaintoallowforturns.

Todetachthechainfromthetractor,depressthe spring-loadedhookpivotpin.Thenslideandrotate thelockchannelonthepinslottodisengageitfrom thehooktip.
