ARTIST STATEMENT ‘Acres of Diamonds’ is my early explorations into the vibrations of colour and thought. Like vibrational portals for a wall, I’ve tried to hone in on the essence of a thing, to concentrate its energy then bounce it back out again.
ALISON MOONEY ‘ACRES OF DIAMONDS’ ABOUT THE ARTIST Alison is an Australian self-taught artist based on the Sunshine Coast in South-East Queensland. Expansive, bright and energetic, Alison Mooney’s gestural abstractions are an experimentation in suspense and unknowing. Using a combination of media including aerosol and oils, she allows the colour blends and movements that appear on the canvas to dictate themselves, combining and repelling as they interact. ANGIE GOTO ‘YOU BE YOU’ ARTIST STATEMENT In a world of conflicting opinions, ideas, beliefs and truths, many people are far removed from their own reality. There is a way to find yourself in this “soup called life”. The roadmap to you was created on the day you were born…alone. It will be revisited again when you die…alone. This alone should force you to realise that in your allotted time on earth, all you learn should continue your journey of you being you through all your experiences..
ANGIE GOTO ‘YOU BE YOU’ ABOUT THE ARTIST Angie Goto is an Australian artist with a unique figurative, abstract interpretation of her surroundings. She was born deaf so art provides her with a vehicle to explore colour and images from another perspective. She enjoys working with her hands and over the years has successfully made and sold handmade products in ceramics, glassware, clothing, art and giftware in Australia and England. Painting has become her full time occupation as it allows her unlimited creative control. Mastering the art of lip reading and speech, Angie can now communicate on all levels but ultimately finds inspiration from the world through the meditative silence of her mind. Angie studied Fine Art and Graphic Design in Newcastle and Sydney. Angie’s return to painting was heralded by her Tropfest film titled “Angie” which was a Finalist in 2015. In 2016 she held two successful exhibitions in Surry Hills and Leichhardt which led to her total commitment to painting. Angie was chosen to be an Art Educator by The Museum of Contemporary Art Australia for their special projects aimed at the deaf and hearing impaired.
