Mark Oliver from “The Government” in Toronto, Evil P, Sidney Blu, Luke Fair,Deko-Ze What was the best show you played? Probably Tiesto Dec 9th 2009. I got an extended set a little longer then expected but I had a blast and it was kind of weird cause I was on the jumbotron @ Cowboys and was not sure how to look cause everyone can see you, but after a few mixes and some great music, I forgot about it and got some great pictures and good times.

Eric Ross Interview:: Where did you grow up? I was born in Pittsburg, Grew up all over the world as I’m still at kid at young age of 41. My high school years were spent in New York, where I found the likes of Soul, Funk and House. I spent sometime in Europe and become exposed to Kraftwerk, West Bam, as well as a lot of the 80’s bands...like Depech Mode, etc. My University Years were spent in Chicago, which gave me an additional influence of Chicago House Music and Blues. How did you get into djn? I was in Orlando, after High School. Didn’t want to go to a University right away, ended up in the Navy for a 3 year run... and landed shore duty in Orlando. That is where I met my friend Kimbal Collins who was a pioneer in Djing the big floor sound that was coming in from the UK. I would hang with Kimball, Chris Fortier, DJ ICEY, BABY ANN (when she was just a music lover and danced her ass off all night long at AHZZ.) I ran into Sasha and Digweed via Kimball and between all that new young talent yet to be discovered, I popped more pills in three years than most desperate house wives and found my self in love with the music. Kimball gave me my first go at it...closing out one of his famous sets at AHZZ, (Beach’m Theator downtown Orlando). I started with Disco...yep, closed out the set with an hour of straight up disco. From that point the things just evolved. Played a few times at Jimmy Van M’s house, the famous after hour’s sunrise sets.

What was the Playboy mansion like? Fun. Did it 5 years in a row and I had a blast. The Playboy Bunnies were great, the rock bands that played with me where awesome and the after parties at the House of Blues... legendary. The best show at the Mansion is when I brought along DJ MEA, Trent Cantrell and we all performed along with FUEL and the drummer from God Smack. How wild did the parties get in the PBM? LOL...can’t say. Not sure the age limit on who is reading this. Let’s just say, it’s the Mansion. However, the after parties back on Sun Set Blvd were nuts. Who is Dr. Feel good? How did you know him? Dr. Feel Good is a well respected Dr. in Chicago. He and his buddy opened up the legendary KARMA night club. Dr. Feel Good would take care of myself and other talent who would be, well lets just say, not sober before we went on the decks. A shot of IV and it would sober us up so we can do a 6 hour set. I can’t say Dr. Feel Good’s name. However, the likes of Paul Oakenfold, Seb Fountain, Dave Seamen, Pete Tong, Dave Ralph, and many, many more know him and we all approve.

What kind of project do you have coming up in 2010? I’ve gone solo, so I’m pretty excited for my work coming out in 2010. I am currently locked down in the lab working on my first Artist EP. Title is AFTERLIFE. This is an artist showcase of my talent as a producer. It crosses many boundaries and is influenced by the famed Global Underground sound coming out of the UK back in the 90s. However, the sound is very much today but I’m not trying to re-invent the wheel, so to speak. There will be 9 tracks on the EP. I have the basic draft of 6 of the tracks as of this interview. The idea is to be able to play the EP in the club, poolside, or in the car. It will be released on a new label, Electronic-Boy. I also have singles coming out, with the first in April 2010 to be “Hustle’ feat Ghost Electric. This is Chris Conde out of DC. He has been on a few artist tracks and recently relocated to SA. He is a hella of a rapper and singer. I wanted to try and put some good positive fun lyrics, hip hop style over a house track. Be sure to keep your ear out for the release in Apirl. There are a few remixes coming out or out all ready with Open Bar music, Phat Beat Netherlands. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Successful! Maybe married if I find the right girl. Other than that, the world changes so fast that I live in the moment. I do not dwell on the past and the future will come. So, my main focus is to live life in the now. Contact me in 5 years and I’ll let you know what I’m up to...lol.

Tell us about your residencies? Not looking for any right now. My primary goal is the music lab, then head out on tour next year. I want to release AFTERLIFE, and about 20 singles this year, get more chart, reviews in the mags, interviews and then head out in 2011 to push the product on the label Electronic-Boy. When u played in NYC, Chicago...so on what was the wildest thing you saw? If you want to know the wildest thing I ever saw, it was in Orlando with DJ ICEY. The singer from Pearl Jam was at club EDGE, Eddie climbed up to the rafters, at least 30 feet in the air and just hung from the rafters for a few minuets. Half way down, he dived into the crowd. Needless to say the owners were freaked. As far as Chicago, NYC, Ibiza, LA, etc...each night has it’s own wild thing happen. There were so many that I would have to write a book. But the Orlando night was probably the one that sticks in my head the most. Where can we check out your new music and DJ mixes?? You can get a lot of my original production from Itunes, Beatport, Djdownload, and all those other fun stores. Myspace will have samples up of forthcoming release, myspace.com/djericross. And in April, you can hear some

stuff at Electronic-boy.com. Also tune in to Matt Darey’s show, Nocturnal on Sirius Satellite radio, he drops a few of my choons from time to time. As far as dj mixes, I really don’t do them anymore. I know, I know, I should. 21in SA -- I guess you will have to hear him live guys no free samples..lol

Top 21 BANDS

an Antonio has very talented and creative bands. For the past couple of years, there have been some really good bands that have emerged and have made their mark on the local scene. Not only is it difďŹ cult to have a good sounding band, just getting gigs is hard to do in San Antonio. (I) hate to say it but cover bands seem to get more respect from venues. 21inSA.com will be ranking bands every month. Rankings are based upon popularity, originality, longevity and merchandising. We focus on bands that have been playing since 2006 to present.
