Pasifika Festival 2006 was proud to be part of the inaugural Celebrate Pasifika programme - a cluster of 42 activities, all of which reflect the unique talents of Pacific cultures in Auckland. Celebrate Pasifika is a cross-regional initiative between Auckland City, Manukau City and Waitakere City councils. It seeks to build and promote the celebration of Auckland’s Pacific cultures into a nationally recognised celebration in Auckland, informing and engaging the wider New Zealand community in a diverse, unique and authentic experience. The Celebrate Pasifika programme incorporates everything from Pacific dance, crafts, workshops and exhibitions to sport, literature, film and other popular events. Expect this to be the cultural event of 2009.
