The editor in chief’s word
EDITOR LETTER We live in a special time - a period of transformation. War has come to our house. But as history shows, any crisis is an impetus for progress. An opportunity to review our values, beliefs and principles. The current situation faced by our generation exposes the thin and fragile, giving the opportunity to become stronger. Just as fire and water temper steel, changing the crystal lattice of matter, so a person changes at the inner level. They say bad times become good memories. Having filled the issue with interesting content, we are gradually making changes to the design of the Home and Interior magazine itself. This issue is special in every way and from every angle. Therefore, we wish you, as well as ourselves, to keep up with the times, be open to innovations and fill life with bright colors. «Everything will be Ukraine» Chief Editor of the magazine House and Interior. Private interior
The house, which was designed and implemented by Nottdesign, stands among buildings of various sizes, the area of the site is small, so it is not visible from the street. One of the main requirements of the customer for the interior was to implement three bedrooms. The windows in the house face south, some of them open onto the patio. They help illuminate the hallway, kitchen and bathroom.

In the center of the house there is a studio divided into a living room, a dining room and an entrance hall with access to the terrace. The kitchen is located in a small niche, which is formed by the volume of the patio and technical room. The technical room can be entered from the kitchen and the street.

Sitting on the sofa in the living room, you can see the sky, because under the ceiling of the kitchen and technical room, a ribbon window stretches along the outer back wall. In order not to block it with internal partitions, the architects did not bring them up to the ceiling, and the resulting gap was glazed. The color scheme of the interior combines the colors of natural materials - wood and porcelain stoneware - with a few black accents.

The main bedroom has a large window overlooking the garden and the pool, the second window opens to the east. The main bathroom is located in this part of the house. The main element of the bathroom is the pergola. It breaks the light from the window and creates a dynamic graphic effect of light and shadow on the wall. The drawing on the sliding door rhymes with a graphic effect and forms a picturesque lyric. Sunlight entering the bathroom partially illuminates the bedroom because the wall between these areas does not reach the ceiling.

UKRAINА OLEG AND LILYA ARCHITECTS, FOUNDERS OF THE ARCHITECTURAL STUDIO «UKRAINA OLEG AND LILYA» Your project won a prize in the competition. How do you plan to use the jury’s appreciation for further development? This is a very nice reward. Our project, first of all, we wanted to draw the attention of architects to the remnants of historical architecture. We want the architectural monuments of the past not to be destroyed, but to be preserved at any cost. As it is done, for example, in Lviv. We admire Lviv houses of the 17th century, but, unfortunately, very few have survived in Kyiv. And in Dnipro - especially since the city is quite young, so we have in the main buildings of the pre-revolutionary period of the late nineteenth - early twentieth century. Tell us about the project that won the prize. The customer was looking for a place to build an office. We were choosing for a long time, but still he agreed to our proposed project of restoration of pre-revolutionary buildings, which consisted of three almost destroyed buildings. But, despite the condition, these houses have retained the spirit of old Katerynoslav. I am quite interested in making certain modern transformations in the historical environment like many architects. That is why we decided that the remains of the factory will be the basis of the new shopping and office center. This way we will be able to preserve the historical spirit of this area, because initially it was planned to build another high-rise building on this site, but it is good that the developer’s plans have changed for some reason and the site was bought by our customer. In addition, this building has a very convenient location in the city center, close to urban infrastructure, with a good parking space. For us, it was a very interesting experience of forming a public environment. The project was named LA FABRICA, as it was based on the foundation of the old pasta factory, which existed here in the early twentieth century before the revolution. At the time of the works, the building was broken in half, only one historical wall has survived. We built a new foundation, new supports to preserve the remains of the old building. The project was constantly improved and reworked. Work on it has been going on for four years. During this time, we managed to restore the old facade, replace the old floors with new ones, also wooden, which visually work in contrast with the glass seal between the two buildings. Now the first stage has been built - a trade and office mall, at the moment the restoration of another part is underway. In-
side, we created a loft-style interior. A complex of buildings is planned to be built on the whole site, which will form a shopping and hotel complex with integrated historical facades with a platform for visitors to walk. Tell us about your studio. How long have you been working in the field of architecture? First I graduated from the Art School, then the E. Vuchetych Art College. Then there was the army, where I was a decorator. Later it was the Dnipropetrovsk Civil Engineering Institute. Lily is also an architect by profession. So the founding date of our studio can be considered the year 1990, when we got married. We work together. For me, the opinion of my wife is extremely important, because she has a great aesthetic taste and a professional sense of what will look more profitable and attractive. Tell us, what is it like to be the head of an architectural studio? I do not consider myself a head, because we always work together with Lilya. It is quite convenient and pleasant when I or she has a certain idea, at any time there is an opportunity to share it, to discuss. It is worth a lot. I really appreciate my wife’s advice. Lilya has good organizational skills, communicates with customers. And as for the drawings, it’s up to me. What are the principles of your studio? First of all, we are always guided by common sense. We do not like unnecessary things, everything should be clear and functional in the historical context. The main thing is the space should be comfortable. The project should work for the person, it should be pleasant to look at it and it should be comfortable inside. We work with both exteriors and interiors. Architecture and design, so to speak, of everything at once. Although I do not like the word “design”. You need to feel with your heart and work with a pencil. After all, architecture, as Lily says, is like cooking, everything should be in moderation so as not to overdo it. Our best works have a distinct Ukrainian style. What is your general impression of the Ukrainian Urban Awards competition? As always, you are the best! Interesting and professional competition, incorruptible jury.

The project of the future building is stylistically tied to the look of Katerynoslav of the XIX century with elements of reconstruction, but also combined with the use of modern architectural techniques. In search of an ideal place for a new shopping and office center in Dnipro, it
was decided to restore the pre-revolutionary building, which consisted of three almost destroyed buildings. But, despite the condition, these houses have retained the spirit of old Katerynoslav. This project is a great example of modern transformations in the historical environment. The architects decided that the remains of the factory would be

The authors of the project did not want to create a pseudo-historical style, pseudo-historical extensions. I wanted to contrast the historical heritage, it is this facade of red brick. And in contrast to embody this modern insert, a seal that has been made. The idea was to restore the ancient environment of old Katerynoslav - cozy, small, large-scale, humane and attractive to visitors. With this project, the architects, once again, pay attention to the preservation of any architectural heritage of the city. What exactly are these remnants of the past together with modern architecture create quality content of the city.

Interview
The apartment begins with a corridor raised 60 cm above the level of the standard entrance. All communications that we cannot see are wired at this mark. Why did you decide to do it this way? Because at one level there was an overlap, and on this overlap was superimposed the «pie» of the exploited roof. In such a situation, we needed steps to access the terrace, which was the first problem. The second problem is that being in the apartment, we did not see the most important thing - what is outside the window. Therefore, we made a strategic decision and sewed everything that is usually in the ceiling into a raised floor. What tasks did the customer set for you? Make an apartment comfortable for living. The customer came to the first meeting with a reference, with an absolutely white interior, a project of the Pritzker laureate. White interior, how practical is it? To make it as practical as possible, we made the floor in natural color thanks to the oak parquet board. Can you tell me why there is exposed concrete on the ceiling? Because we reduced the height of the space at the expense of the floor, and there was no more room for a false ceiling. Did the customer express any wishes regarding the layout? What did you build on when planning and zoning the space? Repelled from viewpoints. The customers clearly marked the side on which the bedroom window should open. Everything else was arranged based on functionality. Let’s talk about material, shall we? What was the emphasis on? Does the apartment have any special finishing materials?
Just good drywall painted with good paint. And we also used large-format porcelain stoneware slabs in the decoration. The floor is parquet. Did you have to win back some ideas by persuading the customer? No, it didn’t. Although I failed to convince the customer of the need to purchase the chair that I saw in this interior, which we drew in visualizations. Tell us about the tasks that you had to solve in the interior. This apartment is generally quite complex engineering. Since everything was hidden in a raised floor, the issue of air conditioning arose, because cold air could not be supplied from the floor. Therefore, we have laid channels in false walls and partitions that raise air from the floor to gratings located in the walls. What is on the second floor of the apartment? Nursery, master bedroom, wardrobe, two bathrooms. The nursery was created for a six-year-old child. Now it is still in an uninhabited state, but when a child moves here, he will dilute the white sterility of the room with bright toys and accessories. Panoramic windows in the bedroom offer a great view of the river and the North Bridge, and also protect the apartment from noise. Tell us where these windows were made and how they were mounted. This is a 60mm curved double glazing unit. There are only two factories in the world that can produce curved glass structures of this size. One of them is located in Luxembourg, and on our order he bent glass for us. The glass profile is also bent. It was bent at a factory in Belgium. In order for everything to fit perfectly, we called surveyors twice and did a geodetic survey.

Interview
Are you always looking for a new manufacturer or are you working with an already proven contractor? I have a family business in the production of cabinet furniture, so I do not think for a long time. We do not hide this from customers. The advantage of such production is that the furniture is sharpened and adjusted exclusively for the project, for me as an architect. And even if the master wants to clarify something, he does not bother the customer, but finds it out from me. Do you remember how your creative path began? What was the first project? Of course I remember. It was an apartment in a restrained classical style in the Dnieper. The customers wanted to save money and hired me, a student, to make it cheap and without visualization. A lot had to be completed and redone in order to find your way and come to clients with whom it is convenient and pleasant to work. Tell us about the period of work with government orders. One of the projects was implemented in the Donetsk region, the customer was Ukrzaliznytsia. We were engaged in the reconstruction of railway stations, for example, the station in Donetsk, where we implemented three objects as part of the complex. Then there were Slavyansk and Kramatorsk. What is the difficulty of such work? The difficulty is that you are up against a large clumsy bureaucratic machine. If we did
not have patronage at the very top, then it would be generally unrealistic to make such objects.
parameters? When I have a high workload, or the customer sets unrealistic deadlines.
How did you get into these projects? By chance. The general designer from the design institute initially participated in the project. They could not cope, and I was recommended as a computer graphics specialist who could make a model of the entire complex. We did, and then we were asked to solve a number of other problems. So we met with the customer, who saw our fresh solutions and offered to be the general designer at other facilities.
Tell us about the pricing policy of your bureau. How much is your square meter? Our price tag starts at $60 per square meter of interior design. The maximum price reaches $100. The price depends on the volume.
What other projects did you implement when you worked with government orders? These were schools and kindergartens in the Dnieper. We created them when we worked with the team of Valentin Reznichenko, the then head of the Dnepropetrovsk Regional State Administration. Another project was implemented for children with special needs. These were inclusive resource rooms and an inclusive resource center in one of the schools. What should be in the project to make it interesting for you? There are three parameters, two of which must be met by a project in order to be taken on. First, the object itself must be interesting; second, the project must be financially profitable; the third is the human factor of the customer. For what reasons can you abandon the project, despite the coincidence of all
And from style? Any interior can be made both cheap and expensive. It all depends on the equipment, on the technology. If the project budget is low, then we work, for example, with IKEA, this is not a problem. But style is still important, because not everyone can afford minimalism, where space is used for the sake of space, for the sake of air. How is the distribution of responsibilities in your studio? Are you present in every project? Yes, I am involved in every project as my workshop makes projects in my name. I am involved in every project at the draft stage, i.e. I make sketches myself. Tell me, do you have any source of inspiration that allows you to switch and replenish your supply of creative and vital energy? I have four children. When I come home, they immediately switch me. Instantly. Tell us about your professional goals that you want to achieve. One of these goals is the team, it is an important asset. This task is more difficult than just implementing some complex project.

This part of the interior is characterized by a restrained and light mood. The brutal concrete ceiling is balanced by the warm wooden texture of the floor. Thanks to the panoramic windows in the morning and during the day, the apartment is filled with natural light; for the evening and night time, the authors of the project used several lighting scenarios. The living area is adjacent to the dining room and kitchen.

Works of the winners of the competition Real Estate Market Awards I REM Awards 2021. Project: «ERMOLAEV CENTER». The multifunctional complex in Dnipro won the nomination «Multifunctional building project» of the REM 2020-2021 competition. Leading architect: Sergey Filimonov Team members: Kashirina NV, Rozum AI, Ivanov DV, Zhilina OS, Tkachenko AA, Podriz KO, Basanska II, Moskvitina NV Company name: Filimonov & Kashirina architects Project area: 32,500 square meters. Place of project implementation: Ukraine, Dnipro, street Shevchenko, 43.
Project description: The multifunctional complex is part of the complex reconstruction of the quarter within Gogol, Patorzhinsky, Shevchenko, Pivdenna streets. The work is a continuation of the consistent transformation of this part of the city into a socially active center.
The complex consists of a stylobate and three volumes of different heights on it. The 4-storey part goes to the red line and is as much connected as possible with the supporting historical buildings. The volume located perpendicularly to the street departs from the red line by steps. Altitude volume is the
most immersed in the quarter, abnormally cut off the existing lane, so it has an acute shape and thus articulates its curvature. The red line is the office and commercial block, the high-rise volume is housing, and in the stylobate there is a mechanized multi-storey car park.

In this project, we gave each space its own accent color to visually separate the zones. The main materials used are white porcelain stoneware, artificial stone, glass and veneered wall panels. Door slopes, plumbing, lamps, switches are made in black, this technique made it possible to combine all color zones with each other. Our team paid special attention to the lighting of the house. Sophisticated Moooi luminaires above the seating area create soft lighting in the evening, while bird-shaped luminaires create a dynamic composition, giving lightness to the space and emphasizing the height of the room. High Wood is an interior created not according to the dictates of trends, but according to the individual life scenario of our clients, fully reflecting their inner world.

I can describe the highest degree of admiration for what I saw with the following statement: «eat like a cake with a spoon», whether it is a landscape or a beautiful interior. Another degree of admiration: «I would sew myself from this a dress.» Inspiration can be the texture of rusty chains knocked down in a pile, or a stump overgrown with moss»- says artist and designer Julia Yalanzhi. The collection of Plattya lamps, created by Julia for her brand YALANZHI OBJECTS, gives interior items feminine shapes, character, plasticity and grace. But not only the form became the main in a collection. An important component in Plattya
is quality, because, as the author herself says, women’s energy is completely different, it’s a different attitude to life, different values. And the Plattya collection helped the designer to come into contact with the inner child and remember how easily the nuances in things were noticed in childhood, which helped to endow ordinary objects with soul, uncharacteristic qualities. «Once I was watching a scene when my little son, finding a wooden hanger in the workshop, imagined it was a weapon, and then the hanger turned into «someone «on a leash. He did not part with it for a moment, it was his favorite toy for a long time, «- says Julia.

«DOM» is a multifunctional facility consisting of an office, apartments and a workshop - a whole world for one modern family from Dnipro. In 2007, the acquired land was located in a depressed area, among semi-abandoned private buildings. Construction lasted 14 years. The appearance of a small multifunctional facility in this place contributed to
raising business interest to the territory. Small private investors began to master it. A reconstructed private building, a well-maintained parking lot, a pizzeria and a shop, street lighting are just the beginning of the transformation of the territory, for the safety and future well-being of which the owner had to fight for all these years.

KATERINA SOKOLOVA How long have you been in design? I can say, since entering the Kharkiv Academy of Design and Arts in 2001. Name the basic principles of work from which you do not deviate under any circumstances. Do not create something that harms a person! For example, I do not undertake the design of weapons and gadgets for smoking. In what direction do you prefer to work, are there any objects, the implementation of which you are absolutely not interested in? I work in different directions, it is interesting to try everything new. I have been designing electronics for seven years. I collaborated with the French brand Jarre Technologies. And I’m a little tired of this direction, so I’m reluctant to take on various IT startups now. Now I would like to focus on designing furniture, lighting, decor, and objects whose life cycle is much longer than that of gadgets. What criteria in furniture design do you pay attention to first of all and can you determine the professionalism of the performer? First of all, to the aesthetics and harmony of the silhouette, then on ergonomics, and more recently - on environmental friendliness and durability. In object design, there are often similar objects implemented by different authors, can this be called plagiarism? What do you think about this? There are more people on the planet, more designers, more manufacturers, more products. We all live in a single information field and ideas are really in the air. And as you know, even the most revolutionary technological discoveries were made simultaneously by different people in different parts of the world. Hits and similarities are inevitable, there are millions of similar products. Another thing is frank copying, or as we call it «replicas», I have a categorically negative attitude to this! Such designers and factories have no future!
NOOM
You graduated from the Kharkov Academy of Design and Arts, and also practiced at the German Design University Burg Giebichenstein Kunsthochschule Halle. What are the clear differences between the two schools of design, and what are the similarities? It was a long time ago, but even then I was first of all struck by the huge workshops equipped with CNC, vacuum forming, carpentry shops for prototyping. The shock was computer classes with access 24 hours a day by cards. And, of course, the method, which, unlike our applied one, even then, 16 years ago, they had at the junction of different sciences. Deep research and analysis in everything. For example, I had an internship in a Multi-Sensory Design course. It is the design of smells, sounds, sensations. The RedDotDesignAward is one of the most significant and significant events in the world of product and industrial design. The Design Oscar is the 2015 RedDotDesignAward that you received for your exquisite AeroTwist ring bluetooth speaker. Tell us about its features. This is a portable audio speaker that was produced by the aforementioned French brand Jarre Technologies. The main feature of this product is transformation. By opening it, you can hang it on a bag, a bicycle or on a tree branch during a picnic. What are you working on now? On new products for our own brand NOOM, which we want to show at the January Maison & Objet in Paris. There will be new lamps and furniture. And in parallel, we are working on several furniture projects for European brands. Do you have a project that is of particular importance? If yes, what is the reason for this? Well, probably, this is the Suprematic collection of vases and lamps, which we presented at DDW 2017. Its success at the exhibition prompted Arkady Vartanov and I to create our own NOOM brand. What inspires you to come up with new ideas? Daily work, just sit down and do it! And I am filled with energy by travelling.

Apartments «SHINE» are located in Dnipro in a residential complex on the embankment of the river overlooking the Monastery Island. The space with an area of 110 square meters is located on two levels and has an orientation to two opposite sides. Initially, the first level was intended for the living room and kitchen, and the second for the bedroom area. But the owners of the apartment agreed to an atypical decision to swap these functional areas and received the optimal solution, which gave a number of advantages. The first level was given over to the bedrooms and a spacious bathroom. The master bedroom has its own small walk-in closet. And the children’s room is separated from the entrance hall by a tinted glass partition (with appropriate sound insulation), so the hall has natural light. The space under the stairs is given over to a technical unit with a water purification system, as well as to store seasonal outerwear. Interview
VICTORIA YAKUSHA
YAKUSHA DESIGN, ARCHITECTURE&INTERIOR DESIGN
The owner of the YAKUSHA DESIGN studio and the YA VSESVIT lecture hall spoke in an interview with the House and Interior magazine about professionalism and plagiarism in the work of a designer. Where did your career start? V: It started with the fact that I made the first project, studying in the third year of the university. What attracts you more - object design, interior design or architecture? I have always dealt with interiors and private architecture. My story with object design began only in 2014. You often use natural materials such as clay in your projects, why? At the beginning of my career, I wanted minimalism and modern style. And over time and a certain professional growth, there was an understanding that I like natural materials. In general, I have always been attracted to living interiors, so that they breathe, radiate life. Today, in our projects, we use the most natural materials and authentic design. If you had three orders: interior, furniture, architecture - what would you choose? That doesn’t happen. These are completely different categories, they can not be compared at all. These are completely different tasks. But, I would most likely choose what would be the most interesting for me. And the interesting is usually the hardest. So the more complex is the process and product, the more it is interesting? No, rather the complexity itself is interesting as a challenge. When it can lead to a new, unexpected result. You, from the height of your experience and knowledge, can easily assess how professionally the interior is made? Certainly I can! And by what criteria do you evaluate
interior design? What do you pay attention to? First of all, I look at how well the space is organized. Secondly, it is important how detailed the details are. And thirdly, this is the author’s approach. I evaluate how typical or non-typical solutions were used in the design. Many designers make similar products, in the case of product design, can this be called plagiarism? There is a concept - plagiarism, and there is a concept - “borrow an idea.” They need to be distinguished. In general, this is a very deep topic, if you think about it. But if in a nutshell - of course, it is very difficult to come up with a new chair, because all chairs have already been invented: four legs, a seat, and so on. But if we take it globally, then the Ukrainian market is mostly plagiarism. Our consumer is not familiar with world brands closely and perceives everything at face value. We are still at the stage when we need to develop our own style and approach. We are just moving in this direction. Which of the world’s leading designers would you nominate as a member of the jury for the next Interior of the Year competition? Patricia Urquiola Your project YA VSESVIT became the winner of the competition in the nomination “Interior of public and administrative buildings - ny”. What was the most difficult thing about creating the interior of the space? There were several such moments. The most difficult thing was to find a harmony in the combination of different textures and volumes with each other, so that completely opposite materials, shapes, images and silhouettes are combined into one whole picture. From what was left behind the scenes, for example, our stone table in the office, which was literally carved by the hands of sculptors for us on the spot. I stood nearby and watched
the process of cutting off everything superfluous from an incredibly heavy stone block, as if I was watching the work of Donatello or Michelangelo. The interior of YA VSESVIT has a lot of details that are invisible at first glance. For example, in the bathroom we used a combination of concrete, microcement, stainless steel and stone. They also worked with marble, which was given relief by analogy with stone, made special serifs, combed the edges to get a more streamlined shape. We also ordered metal tables with a thin edge according to the author’s sketches for the project. But the most difficult was the brickwork in the partition between the office and the FAINA showroom. When we started designing the interior of the space, I really wanted to make tectonics using brickwork. I believe that if you are a professional architect, then you can think over the entire structure so that the same element can serve as part of the structure and decoration at the same time. I wanted to make partitions between two spaces with the help of a special brick in this way. As a result, three construction teams took on our masonry and eventually had to give up. Despite the fact that we calculated all the schemes, laid out everything brick by brick, the craftsmen said that it was more difficult than they expected and refused. So our brick wall turned out to be the most difficult element of the interior. Only because of it, the construction process dragged on for almost two months. But the result was worth it, now our partition is the favorite element of the studio guests - everyone wants to understand how it was done. What advice would you give to your fellow designers who will be participating in the 2019 Interior of the Year competition? Try it, make cool objects, give it your all. Even if you fail to win the first time, never get discouraged! Take on the work again and again until you have a project that you want to tell the whole world about.

Plan-scheme
The Paragon project is an interior design for a two-storey private house. On the ground floor there is a living room, a kitchen, a hall, several bedrooms, a bio-fireplace area and utility rooms. The main rooms are the living room and the kitchen: the design of this space is given by the architecture of the building. In the living area, the ceiling height is 5.2 m: good proportions, symmetrical high windows overlooking the garden. The second starting point in interior design was the JBL Paragon D44000 speaker system. It is «Paragon» that sets the color and mood of the
interior, it is natural wood and genuine leather of terracotta and dark brown color. In contrast, the wall in the living room is made in a finish that imitates a light graphite-colored concrete surface. The height of the room is both a good plus and a problem that needed to be solved, visually reduced without reducing the overall space. This is how horizontal elements appeared on the wall in the TV zone made of natural wood in a warm shade. In the kitchen, the warm wood color of natural American walnut wood veneer continues. Visually, the kitchen is connected to the fireplace area by a light line on the ceiling, passing into the wall. Kitchen of the Italian factory «Cesar».

Another accent in the living room, above the table of the Cattelan factory, is a stylish lamp from Vibia, it is voluminous and light. All these elements balance the space and provide a comfortable cozy environment for relaxation and living. On the second floor there is a master bedroom, a wardrobe, a bathroom, a children’s bedroom with a bathroom and an office. The main bedroom is done in light soft colors.
Bed made of natural solid wood and natural beige suede with horizontal stitching. Bedside tables made of natural wood. Near the bed there is a velor upholstered sofa with leather sidewalls and metal legs. Coziness is added by a lamp from Cattelan. Two children’s bedrooms are made in a modern style. A room for a girl in light turquoise tones, a bed in beige-pink suede, a wardrobe and weightless shelves

from the Pianca factory complement the interior. The bedroom for a teenager is bright. On the walls, wallpaper imitating a vertically positioned board feels like a brushed tree to the touch. Bed made of genuine leather in dark brown color, rough design with metal inserts in the form of a zipper. The addition is the light next to the bed and, of course, the asymmetric console shelves from the Pianca factory. The interior of the whole house turned out to be stylish and cozy. The rooms are filled with light and are conducive to relaxation.

ABOUT PROJECT
SUBJECT
Today is 5019. Today a new land appeared. Sergey Makhno Architects is a modern Ukrainian design and architecture workshop that has implemented about 600 projects in 21 countries of the world over 17 years. The company operates in three areas: interior design, architecture and object design, and has its own ceramic production. The studio promotes modern Ukrainian style, «Ukrainian contemporary», combining minimalism, art, Ukrainian traditions and Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi. Kofta is an independent Ukrainian couture studio specializing in the art of leather craft using 3D futuristic technologies. The result is accessories created at the intersection of art and science, near and unreal. Since 2010, the studio has been creating unique projects that have received numerous awards in international art and fashion competitions.
Ukrainian design and architecture workshop Sergey Makhno Architects and couture studio Kofta presented the OBITOVANA 5019 collection of furniture and accessories back in 2019, which can become prophetic, because the world is already changing and tends to the fact that the concept of the project will become a reality. A riot of herbs merged with gradients of mint-tarragon trees against a backdrop of pink sand. A life-giving flood of daylight
and pure hearts spilled over the weary planet. OBITOVANA 5019 is a space without walls and ceilings, without fences and borders. Everybody’s close - there are no strangers under the same sky. The cacti have dropped their needles because they no longer have to defend themselves. Good does not overcome evil, because there’s no evil anymore. The whole world is home here. The collection of furniture and accessories OBITOVANA 5019 is an attempt to tell
the present its future. This is the world we started to create today. At the CORAL REEF table, replicating the shape and color of an oceanic coral reef, we will begin to appreciate each other’s company. When the week in isolation is over - everyone is together again, close people, we want to talk, hug, be here and now, and no mobile phones. CORAL REEF is about the fact that there is no longer a place for gadgets - only delicious healthy food and live communication.

“The collaboration with KOFTA turned out to be a prophetic project. We tell a story about the life that will be after the future. OBITOVANA 5019 is our dream to become involved in the creation of the world that we want to see, and not the one we are predicted,” Sergey Makhno, architect and founder of the Sergey Makhno Architects studio, shares his impressions. While access to expeditions to the distant jungle and even to the local botanical garden is limited, we will create exotic flora simply at home on our own. The TITAN floor lamp is a flower that will never go out. The prototype of Titan Arum
- the largest flower in the world - it can grow even from the floor, even from the wall of the 24th floor of a skyscraper. Its light source is wrapped in a thin pink cloth to protect the beam of light inside. Like hope, like a chance to live. “Change dictates new rules. We hope that tomorrow things around will become the harmony that modern man lacks. Tomorrow we will definitely be new, filled with light, surrounded by space where the balance of everything reigns,” says Konstantin Kofta, designer of futuristic accessories for the Kofta brand. The collection also includes a cold floor lamp, a sofa-sink, a puzzle carpet and two bags that bloom. Each product has its own history. The names of the objects are the names of butterflies that have died out, rivers that have dried up, glaciers that have melted, islands that are sinking, and flowers that will never bloom again. In the new world they will live again.
