On September 14, 2013, Jason King, Travis Dutka and I made a promise to our dear friend Todd Skinner that we would carry on his dream of building the best place to work in the World. Last spring, on April 16, 2014 we took a major step forward by winning the most coveted award of best place to work in Canada. We still have a long way to go, but we’re committed and determined to inspire everyone at 360 to make this the best place to work in the world. One of quotes I learned early on in business that has stayed with me was from Jack Welch when he said, “If the rate of change on the outside exceeds the rate of change on the inside the end is near.” Well, at 360 we always make sure we’re changing and although change can sometimes be uncomfortable, it’s what keeps us on our toes and successful. Let’s look at 2014 and all of our changes and successes: 2014 was an amazing year at 360 where we continued to sharpen our vision. At our July team meeting I launched our painted picture, something I learned from Cameron Herold at Jayson Gaignard’s Mastermind Talks event in June. This painted picture is a detailed illustration of what our business is going to look like on December 31, 2017. It was beautifully hand drawn by local artist, Dani Crosby and you can see 360’s painted picture included with this book.
With the addition of all these folks, we were able to win one of the top 3 appliance companies in the world as a client – we now have 4 of the top 5! We launched our 5th module, and a key one – Co-op/Market Development Funds. We can now start to gather data on how our clients’ channel partners advertise and drive sales. We then connect that to purchase and incentives data to determine the most valuable ways for our clients and their partners to leverage advertising. We also launched a healthy workplace initiative by issuing everyone in the company a Fitbit Flex, with a challenge to take enough footsteps in the first 90 days to walk to our well in Rwanda and back. As I write this, we should be arriving “back” from Rwanda in the next few days. As we learned at our 2014 holiday party from our friend Brian Price, a Canadian gold and silver Olympian, “with determination, perseverance and courage we can do anything.” So to all of the 360 team, our friends and families, clients and partners: dream big because life isn’t about finding yourself, life is about creating yourself and we are creating some amazing things together. The best part is – we’re just getting started. Jason Atkins, CEO & Founder February 23, 2015
We solidified the vision of one channel platform – one that’s easy to use, easy to launch, protects our clients’ brands, provides an amazing experience for their channel and consumers and, most importantly, changes everything by leveraging the data. We call this new vision 360 Insights, a vision we will begin moving feverishly toward in 2015. We also launched our New Jersey office in 2014 and with that came some incredible new team members. In fact, that team has grown from 5 people back in June to over 30 today.

If one of the world’s top manufacturers gives you an opportunity to step up and grow, what do you do? You step up, of course! This year 360 opened an office in Wayne, NJ and expanded our team and technology to meet the growing needs of our clients. The more we revolutionize the incentives world with these top brands, the more they find new ways to harness our technology with the result that we continue to grow together.
Keynotes from Olympic medalists and other top coaches? Check. Surprise food truck party with aerial drone photography? Of course! Baby showers, bridal showers, seasonal celebrations and movie night? We got those. Breakfast parfaits and smoothies, donuts, fruit bowls and cupcakes? Do you even need to ask? With our new focus on building the healthiest workplace, the 360 Team will have even more energy to “have fun while we get s**t done!”

2014 was another year of being able to make a difference in the world, starting with our own community. The 360 team raised tens of thousands of dollars for charities ranging from supporting local families at Christmas time, to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, our Brovember fundraiser and raising nearly $14,000 for charity: water in honour of our friend, Todd. We supported local initiatives such as the Space Invaders art festival and the Ontario Shores Walk For Happiness, but we were also able to help people out in the world at large – 360 Team Haiti grew from 14 members in 2013 to an unbelievable 36 people by the end of 2014. The ripple effect of this work and how it upholds this founding principle is hard to quantify but exciting to ponder!

When we set out as a team to establish a set of values to help us guide and give meaning to our work each day, we wanted to be able to answer a simple question about each one: “am I doing it now?” Our company values stand for everything that we hope to be and to become through our work and day-to-day lives: helpful, innovative, honest, integrated and happy. These awards are an opportunity for our team to honour those among us who truly embody these guiding values day-to-day and remind us what we’re working toward as we build the best workplace in the World. Congrats to the winners and all nominees and thank you nominators!

Todd Skinner, our friend, mentor and Chief of Staff passed very suddenly on September 10, 2013. Todd was an incredible guy and poured an enormous amount of love and energy into his roles as a family member, friend, community member, businessman and coach. Through his work and presence, he has left a remarkable legacy of businesses he helped around the world, especially in our local community but his legacy is even greater for his contributions to the lives of so many people. It was Todd’s love of leadership, excellence and helping other people to do more and be more that led him to pioneer 360’s culture initiatives. When asked about company culture, he would always reply, “Your company has a culture, whether you’re being intentional about it or not – you might as well make it a great one.” Todd lived a life that was the integrated embodiment of his personal values and personal mission. He led us through weeks of discussion and voting as the team got together to decide on what 22
360’s company values would be and helped us to get clear on what it meant to have our values guide our actions. For all of these reasons and more, it is fitting that we have an annual award that reminds us to appreciate his foundational work of the past while honoring outstanding work by a team member of the present. 2014 was the inaugural year for 360 to present the Todd Skinner award to a member of our team. The award is meant to recognize commitment, contribution and goodness – the very character traits that we all admired so much in Todd. The winner of the 2014 Todd Skinner award is…Ryan Bishop. Congratulations and thank you, Ryan – Todd would be so proud.

360’s founder and CEO Jason Atkins knew before the company even existed that he wanted to deliver an unbelievable experience to his clients and to make an unbelievable workplace for his employees. 360 has since gone on to be named the number one best place to work in Canada.
data to help them make very well informed decisions about future programs.
Our ongoing challenge each day: keep making it happen, and make it last. A healthy culture is key for any business, but is particularly important for the work we do at 360incentives.
We need to make sure our entire team shows up every day ready to be cheerful, proactive, and go above and beyond for every single call. You know – happy.
In a nutshell, we make it easier for global brands to execute sales incentives and promotions that, in turn, help them to increase sales and engagement.
Likewise, as a technology company we need our development team to stay focused, energized and optimized for innovation – the very cornerstone of our business.
We do this through our industry-leading Channel Marketing Platform. This technology solution makes it easier for companies to execute sales spiffs, consumer rebates, instant rebates, sell-through allowances, co-op/MDF and other programs for manufacturers and distributors. We’re even rolling out a predictive analytics service that will use our clients’ past incentives
Our teams are fueled, motivated and inspired by our culture. It’s part of everything we do.
But here’s what we need to remember: whether we are answering the phones or responding to emails from retail sales associates on the ground, we are an extension of our client’s brand. Really, we aren’t only serving our clients every day; we are also serving our clients’ customers. With stakes this high, we need to bring our best to every single interaction.
In creating this book, we wanted to share with you exactly what we mean by organizational culture and why it is so essential to our business. Maybe you’ll be inspired to take a fresh look at the culture of your own business?
