I made a circle with sticky tape and then used ruler to measure the length of the sticky tape to determine the radius. The radius of the circle would then help in constructing the 3D model.

Making a right triangle by using sticky tapeww to determine the angle that the sticks rotate from vertical direction.
The length of each stick in this plant suppport is directly measured with tape measure.

Analysis
Firstly, I tried to consider this geometry of the plant support is formed by this single units.
4
And 9 units of that can form the shape.
Another way to consider the geometry
Two circles formed firstly on the top and bottom.
Then those sticks array around the circle.

Process of Digital Modelling
Using the angle I measured, I can determine how much it rotates from the vertical direction.
Firstly, I made two sticks as a single unit.
And then using “Polar array command to finish the whole geometry 7
Sketch Model
The two pictures on the left hand side are works done by traditional Japanese craft designer. The object has reminded me of some bamboo craft works in Japan. The idea of Ruled Surface is applied to those works. And the other feature they both share is that they all form an interestingand relatively complex shape, geometry or volume with very simple lines and objects.

And I think this is what I was focusing when I reconfigure my object. Inspired by this, I tried to explore what kind of other interesting geometries I can create by using the same rule. I firstly connect two lines with a series lines and then rotate the whole object. And then I create a volume by joining three of them together. 9

How does this respond to your personal space? In terms of the personal space, this kind of the geometry can provide a effectively defensive layer for the user as user can get into the volume created by those sticks. At the same time, both the user and surrounding people would not feel uncomfortable because the second skin does not block the view of any one. It only provides the individual distance. 10

Borrowing the idea of a mask helmet, this cage grid does not has to be attached to body to give the protection of the user. Those net mainly composed by batten also provide protection to the personal space without covering the users body, instead, it provides a comfortable distance and space for both users and other individual.

Sketch Design #3 What is your idea? [Maximum 5 key words]
This small unit plate are placed over the users body like the amour of a Japanese warrrior. They overlay and overlap each other and provide a defensively protection layer to the users.
