Nature Connects Opens at Green Animals Topiary Garden in Portsmouth, Rhode Island

During a warm and delightful afternoon, donors, supporters, and the media came together to open The Preservation Society of Newport County’s newest summer exhibit, Sean Kenney’s Nature Connects, made with LEGO® bricks. An award-winning and record-breaking exhibition of beautiful works of art made from simple toy blocks is meant to explore animal endangerment, the balance of ecosystems, and humanity’s relationship with nature.

Spread throughout the estate’s lush gardens, 14 sculptures are placed among the crafted topiaries that draw families worldwide. And, for those including a trip to the Breakers in Newport, Kenney has a Bonsai Tree he built inside the welcome center.

“We are so excited to bring this exhibition to Rhode Island this summer,” said Trudy Coxe, CEO, and Executive Director of The Preservation Society of Newport County, which owns the topiary garden. “This is the only northeastern location for Nature Connects in 2023, and we know Green Animals will provide the perfect backdrop for an exhibition that explores so many aspects of the natural world. We cannot wait to see how visitors react to these remarkable and unique displays.”

Sean Kenney’s Nature Connects, made with LEGO ® bricks, and produced by Imagine Exhibitions, is open for viewing through September 10.

With a backdrop of green animals and beautiful flowers, the works of art are nestled around the pathways, showing the interconnection, delicate balance, and relationship between ecosystems, nature, and humankind.

Open daily from 10 a.m.–5 p.m.; tickets are available at newportmansions.org/events/sean-kenneys-nature-connects/. H
