Happy
Mother’s Day!!
In the year 1914, President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed the second Sunday in May as a national holiday in honor of mothers. In 2012, almost 100 years later it is one of the most broadly observed holiday in America and several other countries too. As I reflect on my childhood, my sweet mom has always been my best friend. She has been there for the laughter and the tears, the ups and downs and always the one that I turn to when I want to celebrate or vent. What makes her the best mom in the world? That is easy... She is mine!! The totally amazing thing is that I’m adopted. That makes her even more special to me. I am the person I am today because I watched her as I grew up. She is a precious example of stability, has a spirit of friendliness, values the importance of family and showers others with unconditional love. We lost my husband’s dear Mom a few years ago to Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Although I didn’t have long enough with her, I received the amazing gift as I watched her in awe as grace overflowed from her until the very end. My wish for Mother’s Day this year is that I will have at least a fraction of the influence on my kid’s and grandkid’s lives that the Moms in my life have had on me. I have been truly blessed! I pray that the legacy that I will one day leave is a family that passes on a passionate love for Jesus, a desire for the things of God, and unconditional love for their families. Please go to www.SeniorsScoop. com/ozarks and share stories and pictures about your mom or what your hopes as a mother are. We may post them on our website! Blessings, Sheila We appreciate your interest and encourage your comments and suggestions. Please address all correspondence to: Seniors’ Scoop of the Ozarks, 4831 S. Dear Friends, James and I were able to meet so many of our readers and future traveling buddies at the Southwest MO Area Office on Aging Health and Wellness Expo in April. We were not at all surprised that you are such nice people! Now we are even more excited for our first trip! We are hosting a trip called Trains and Canyons of the Southwest. We will fly to and from Springfield, travel by luxury motor coach, we will enjoy the excitement of riding on two trains with an option of an open air experience, tour on a trolley and witness the hundreds and hundreds of hot air balloons for the night glow and the morning Getaways launch at the Albequrque Balloon Fiesta! This is an & exciting trip that won’t require Worldwide Tours a great deal of walking. We will be hosting several trips each year, some within our own country and some to explore other countries and cultures! We will also do some weekend getaways to enjoy our wonderful local sights. We hope that you will join us for a trip or a getaway. getaways & worldwide tours.indd 1

Simplify
Jesus, who is the Gosple, said all the commandments and laws hinge on two: Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind and soul and then Love your neighbor as yourself.
Is it possible that we have made the work and rules of the church so complicated that we have lost the essence of what Jesus intended?
Transform
Jesus, who is the Gosple, when He was eating dinner with tax collectors and sinners, said that those who are well don’t need a doctor, but the sick do, and this is who He came for. The reality is that we are all sick and need his healing. Is it possible that the church has become so polished on the outside that we have begun thinking of ourselves as not needing any further treatment?
Engage
Jesus, who is the Gosple, said to a woman at the well who he should not of even been talking to, that He was living water and that a drink from Him would cause you never to thirst again. Is it possible that the church has forgotton the rules of engagement? Instead of taking the living water to where it is needed most, are we saying,“clean up and come in here where we are for a drink”? Please say “I found it in Seniors’ Scoop Directory.” Thanks!
