id you know that over half of the American population eats lunch alone?* That statistic is even higher for breakfast. Perhaps brought on by time constraints, personnel shortages, or just the overarching change in current consumption behaviors, the idea of breaking for a morning or midday meal seems to take a backseat to the stresses of the day. Knight’s Table is looking to change that. Taking the time to share a meal with others triggers psychological and social benefits that also give us a chance to feel connected to others. With the numerous innovations, improvements and menu alterations that have happened over the past few months at the

Knight’s Table, it is now not just a place to catch a meal, it’s also an aesthetically pleasing space that allows you to relax and reboot before you head back to the grind. The improvements are evident as soon as you step into the building - from the fresh coat of paint, to the renovated flooring. Step in a little further and you’ll discover a new reoccurring menu, presented on the new digital menus and marketing display. Tacos are the focus for Tuesdays, wings come out on Wednesdays and international cuisine – featuring eight different cultural menus dishes – is the star of the show on Thursdays. Looking for a little treat to compliment your meal? Knight’s Table

now has a daily yogurt parfait bar, served with some of your favorite toppings. They’ve also made it easy for you to plan a well-balanced meal with their freshly labeled “Go for Green” plate, featuring an example of a well-balanced, nutritious meal. Did you think that Knight’s Table was only open to the military? They’ve changed that too! Now, the dining facility is open to everyone on weekends, holidays, family days, goal days and Monday evenings. That includes brunch on the weekends! If you haven’t had a chance to stop by and see what’s new at Knight’s Table, it might be time to give yourself a much deserved lunchbreak.

ACE THE BUNKER SHOT Join Dean Fairweather, resident teaching pro at Breckland Pines Golf Course, each month for tips on making the most of your time out on the golf course. This month, Dean has advice on how to play a greenside bunker shot effectively, complete with a teaching drill to help revolutionize your bunker play. With greenside bunkers featured on 14 of 18 holes at Breckland Pines, this is a very handy shot to have! Meet the Expert: Dean Fairweather is a PGA member, TPI Certified Golf Professional and proud resident teaching pro at Breckland Pines Golf Club. Need some extra pointers? Book a golf lesson with him by calling the Pro Shop at 226-2223.

1 SET- UP When playing a sand shot, the set-up is vital. You’ll want 60% of your weight to be on your left leg and have it stay there throughout the swing. Your feet should be shoulder width apart with your feet aligned just to the left of the target. Position the ball just inside your left foot and allow your clubface to point up at the sky (see Photo 1). This enables you to keep the loft on the clubface.

2 HEAD POSITION This is something that gets overlooked when in the sand. When you take your backswing, make sure your head and eyes stay in line with the golf ball (Photo 2). This will make it far easier to judge where the club’s entry point will be with the sand.

3 SWING As demonstrated in Photo 3, the swing length reflects the letter “L.” If you make an L shape with the club, you will be in a great position at the top of the swing. As your club hits the sand, keep the clubface pointing at the sky. How do you do this? At impact, keep the back of your right hand pointing at the sand and continue to rotate your upper body.

4 SPEED One of the key elements of hitting a successful bunker shot is to keep aggressive on the downswing. I find that many causes of miss hit bunker shots are from players trying to be too careful - keep the speed in the swing!

TEACHING DRILL One of my favorite teaching drills is the “T-DRILL,” which will teach you one of the most important aspects of bunker play: controlling the clubhead’s entry point with the sand. Using a rake you will draw a T in the sand (See Photo 4). The top of the T is used to control ball position. Place a ball in front of the long line, hit a bunker shot trying to hit the line just before the ball. Try this with or without the ball for a fantastic way to build confidence.

SHOT SAVER Hole 3- 390 yards Par 4 About the Hole: A straight, long par 4 with a wide fairway. With a Fairway bunker at 250 yards on the right hand side and an out of bounds all the way up the left side of the hole, there are plenty of hazards to keep you on your game. Things don’t get any easier past these hazards as the small green and two greenside bunkers greet you at the end. This is a long hole and one that I find particularly challenging. If you can carry the ball 150 yards from your tee shot, you’ll be able to carry the famous Breckland Pines heather. If not, use the tips mentioned here to get yourself out. Make a par here and you have picked up a shot on your competitors!

Artists with RAF Lakenheath, Mildenhall and Feltwell affiliations are invited to bring in their works of art – from quilts and weavings to paintings and photographs – to the library to be displayed for the entire month of February. “This event provides an opportunity for people in our community to share and show off their creations,” said Helen Lehman, Reference Librarian at Liberty Library. Libraries everywhere are experiencing a shift. With the advent of the Internet, the traditional book repository model of the past is transforming into one of community engagement and involvement. In February, creatives in our own tribase community are invited to follow this movement to the Liberty Library for the first annual ‘For The Love of Art’ program.

The idea for the event spun from a similar program that Lehman created for the Vogelweh Library in Germany. Studies have shown that art can have an impact on everything from the atmosphere of a room to our ability to make connections with others. The library hopes that the program offers a conversational platform for patrons, and encourages people to explore their own creative side.

“We have so many talented people living here … many of whom are displaced from their stateside workshops,” Lehman said. “This is a platform for them to share what they do with others – and for others to appreciate the talent that exists right here on our base.” While artwork will be displayed all month long, the culmination of the program is a special Meet and Greet reception to be held on Valentine’s Day, Wednesday, February 14, at the library. Artists and community members will convene for an evening of conversation and refreshments all in the name of art. “The library is a neutral ground where all can visit, no matter your age, rank or social status,” Lehman said. “It’s also free to participate in any aspect of the library – including this program. For the Love of Art is simply what its title implies; loving art and promoting those who make our world brighter because they are willing to share their gifts and talents.” All artists interested in displaying their work are requested to contact the library no later than January 24 to reserve their space. Artists of all mediums and skill levels are encouraged to participate.

Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson are one of a kind together, and their comedic chemistry is fully engaged in this film. An elite bodyguard (Ryan Reynolds) has to protect a professional hitman (Samuel. L . Jackson) from a league of killers wanting them dead. The only problem? Their history together. The film showcases Reynolds and Jackson in their attempt to escape the killers while trying not to kill each other in the process. The film is entertaining, action-packed and will leave you laughing the whole time. However, instead of "The Hitman's Bodyguard," I think it should have been called "The Adventure of Nick Fury and Deadpool."

THE DARK TOWER Fantasy/Science Fiction • Rated PG-13 This movie is based on the best selling series from Stephen King. Roland (Idris Elba) plays the last Gunslinger who has been locked in a fight with the "Man in Black" with much at stake. This battle between good and evil holds the fate of The Dark Tower and the universe itself. Matthew McConaughey plays the “Man in Black,” who can control and kill anyone without even touching them. To see him take this role was epic in every way. However, to those who are fans of the book series, it's pretty hard not to nitpick certain aspects of the film. The film was entertaining and well made, but the evident problem is that the film makers tried to compile elements from too many novels into one, making the story feel rushed. It's like cramming all of the Harry Potter books into a twohour movie! I will rate this movie in the words of Mr. McConaughey, “Alright, Alright, Alright."

ometimes you just need more space. Especially here in England. According to new research, houses here have less space than any other European country, and are nearly half the size of homes in the United States.* It’s no wonder many of us make the move over here and are left scrambling to find a place to put everything! Luckily, here at Outdoor Rec we have units available for all of your storage needs. We have 8’x8’x10’ units available for just $50/month and 8’x8’x20’ units available for $70/month. Don’t miss our buy five months, get the sixth month free

special for our 8x8x10’ units! Give us a call to reserve your space. In the meantime, make the most of your storage space with these tips.

1. LABEL EVERYTHING: You might know what is going into your storage unit today, but when you need it several months from now you might be digging for hours. Save yourself a little time and label everything. It might not be a bad idea to map out the space so you know that the kettle bells you are looking for are in the back right corner under the chair. Have an item that you will

be using frequently? Try to store it near the door.

2. PLAN APPROPRIATELY: Identify which boxes are your heaviest or fullest, and put those in first along with items that are bulky. Start by storing items along the outer walls first so that you have room to work in the middle. Clearly identify anything that is fragile, and take care to pack items like garden tools that have sharp edges so you avoid any potential accidents.

3. STACKING: Be smart about how you stack

your items in order to maximize your space. If you have chairs, stack them pad to pad. If you have large, long items like mattresses or sofas, pack them vertically so you don’t take up unnecessary space. It’s also a good idea to use covers to keep items clean and dust free.

4. WRAP WHAT YOU CAN: If your item will be stored for a long period of time, keep the dust away by sealing your items up tight with plastic wrap. It will keep them in good shape. *Find Me a Floor, February 2017 ht tps://w w w.findmeafloor.co.uk/ where-in-the-world-do-you-get-thebiggest-home

ITALY

Italy has many must-sees: be sure to visit Venice, especially during Carnival of Venice (January 27-February 13). Sign up for a Cicchetti tour and indulge in the local cuisine and wine. Leave yourself a day to walk throughout Pompeii. And once you’ve seen the ruins take the train to Almafi Coast and witness the spectacular views from the cliffs. After the Almafi Coast, take a short boat cruise to Capri, a stunning island just off the coast. Fancy getting dirty in Spain? Travel at the end of August and participate in La Tomatina, a tomato throwing, squashing, food fight festival, located in Buùol, near Valencia. Throwing produce not your thing? Why not partake in the Haro Wine(-Fight) Festival, where locals and tourists alike take advantage of the bottomless supply of red wine in their annual wine throwing festival.

IRELAND

The countryside of Ireland is just as remarkable as its big cities. Take the unforgettable drive along the Ring of Kerry, or the Dingle Peninsula. Walk along the edges of the Cliffs of Moher and be amazed by the sheer beauty of the endless cliffsides. Visit Cork and take a short drive to Blarney Castle, and kiss the 200-year-old Blarney Stone, or the Stone of Eloquence. One of the most iconic locations in Slovenia is Lake Bled. Beautiful all year round, one of its most popular tourist times is the 3rd weekend in July, for Bled Days. A weekend long festival with music, crafts, food, and a mesmerizing display of hundreds of floating eggshell candles on the lake.

BAVARIA

Bavaria is like no other place. Munich is set among the German Alps, and is a cultural and historic setting. While walking throughout the city, stop at the Marienplatz and watch the Glockenspiel, a 1908 caricature chiming clock that runs 2-3 times a day; climb to the top of St. Peters Church for views of the Frauenkirche, the entire city, with the Alps in the distance; find the Eisbach Wave and watch skilled surfers ride the waves just like in the ocean. Of course, the most popular time to visit Munich is during Oktoberfest (September 21-October 9), it would be best to book your travel itinerary now, as that time of year fills up fast! While here, take a tour to Neuschwanstein Castle and be awed by the scenery, and the attention to detail.

“For my transition from servicemember to business owner, it had to be UMUC.”

When in France, be sure to set a few days aside for Normandy, and when you’re in the region be sure to visit Mont Saint-Michel. In addition to the well-sought out Paris attractions be sure to see Sainte-Chapelle, and the Catacombs.

FRANCE

Croatia, a tourist hot-stop? YES! Do not miss ancient walled city of Dubrovnik (it may look familiar if you’re a Game of Thrones fan), and while you’re there visit Lokrum Island, with wild peacocks, cliff-jumping, and a saltwater lake. There is also easy access to the other former Yugoslavia countries like beautiful Montenegro, and historic Bosnia and Herzegovina. Also, be sure to venture through Plitvice Lakes National Park, with unforgettable and breathtaking sights.

Of course, there are many more exciting, historic, and awe-inspiring locations throughout the continent that we were unable to get to in this article. We would love to discuss more with you when you come in to book your next outing. Travel is our business, adventure is our calling.
