Letter From The Publishers Back to school means the lazy days of summer are replaced with packed lunches, busy days and homework nights! Our oldest son,

Chase (CHS 2015 graduate), is starting back to school this year as a history teacher and football coach in Jarrell, Texas. Colby (CHS

2019 graduate) will be starting a new chapter as a freshman at Texas Tech University and Camden will begin 7th grade at Celina Junior High School. He's ready to start Celina football! And we are ready for some Friday night lights at the new stadium! You can see a preview of the stadium here on page 8.

We hope you had a wonderful summer full of memories and laughs with family and friends. We are so blessed to live and raise our children in Celina. And we are doubly blessed to be able to be so involved with this community and the people through OurCelina!

Celina Women's Chamber of Commerce Celina Women's Chamber of Commerce was founded in November, 1963. At the time of its creation, it was the only known Women’s Chamber of Commerce in existence. It was an outgrowth of the need for organization of women in the community. Celina Women’s Chamber of Commerce was sponsored by the Inter Se Club at the suggestion of Jessie Ownsby, a charter member of Inter Se.

ber of Commerce was a member of the East Texas Chamber of Commerce.

The purpose of the Celina Women's Chamber of Commerce was to foster the spirit of cultural and commercial progress among women, to encourage good will and fellowship, and to enable them to assist in the advancement of agricultural, industrial, commercial, educational, civic and community interests. Members of the Celina Women's Chamber of Commerce included women with a real interest in promoting the welfare of the community and a desire to have a part in its betterment and beautification.

The first president of the Celina Women’s Chamber of Commerce was Bennie G Cox. Cox was an active member of the Women’s Chamber of Commerce in Celina when there were no men involved with the Chamber of Commerce. She was also a longtime member of the Inter Se Club and was helpful in acquiring historical markers for the city. Bennie G. Cox, first president

One of the projects of the Celina Women's Chamber of Commerce from the beginning was the beautification of the park in the town square. Plans for the park were drawn up by Celina native J. B. Winn, a noted artist who would later paint murals for the Dallas Medical Arts Building, Highland Park Village Theater and many other notable buildings across the country.

bumper stickers and donated them to the Celina Bicentennial Committee to use as a fundraiser.

From 1968 - 1972, the Celina Women’s Chamber of Commerce held joint meetings with the Men’s Chamber of Commerce. After a covered dish supper, each group held separate business meetings.

Jane Willard can still be found in Celina carrying on the founding spirit of the Celina Women's Chamber of Commerce through her work with various community organizations.

Presidents who have served the organization were Bennie Cox, Mrs. Ken Massey, Ruth Biggerstaff, Mrs. Bob Parish, Mrs. T.M. Hughes, Mrs. Barry Davenport, Jane Willard and Jane. Huddleston.

The fountain was erected, a sprinkler system installed, walkways were built and the park was planted with shrubs and flowering plants. For several years, an Americanism Dinner was one of the main events of the Celina Women’s Chamber of Commerce. Among other activities, the Celina Women’s Chamber of Commerce hosted an annual Americanism Dinner, a Newcomers’ and Resassembly Coffee; decorated the square at Christmastime and supervised the yearly Christmas parade as well as other events for the purpose of the betterment of the Celina community.

Rice Noodle

Review by: Avery Trimmer Everyone loves the classic Chinese take out meal, Rice and Noodle offers classic dishes along with some unique options that you couldn’t always find in Celina. Rice and Noodle serves Chinese dishes along with Japanese entrees such as hibachi fried rice and ramen, and this ramen is far from what you would make in your college days. Minced pork, veggies, and a flavorful broth make this ramen authentic and leaves anyone who tries it with a happy stomach. Chinese entrees offered such as the orange peel chicken and sweet and sour chicken are delicious takes on dishes you can find at any Asian take out. The orange peel chicken particularly is one of my favorite dishes. Plenty of pieces of chicken are served, enough so in fact that one meal could be shared unless you are super hungry. The chicken is meaty, and also crispy, the sauce is flavorful. One detail is that with many of the dishes spicy or not spicy options are available, including the orange chicken. Tofu or shrimp options are also available to the non-meat eaters, the variety of dishes is fantastic to see in an Asian restaurant. Side dishes include seasoned rice, steamed rice, noodles, or steamed veggies. The steamed rice is my favorite side dish for any entree, the rice is cooked nearly to perfection, it’s not too sticky and is very soft. It goes perfectly with any of the meat or veggie dishes. Rice and Noodle reaches such a level of authenticity in what they have to offer that they even have Asian drinks to pair with your meal. The boba tea has many options to choose from, fruit teas, milk teas, and smoothies. Along with tapioca bubbles, fruit popping bubbles, and jellies as add ons to your tea. Popular Asian drink Ramune is also sold, which is a fruit flavored soda. The average cost of a meal is between $10-$15, which is a reasonable price for the quality of the food and the quantity you are receiving. The service is always top notch. Everyone is friendly, and you may even leave with a free bubble tea on your way out! Overall Rice and Noodle is a great experience and the food is memorable along with the service. Go and get a taste of the many dishes and tastes of Asia right here in Celina. Rice Noodle is located at 2750 S Preston Rd Ste 112, Celina, TX 75009 in the Shops at Carter Ranch and is open 7 days a week, 11:30am - 9:30pm.

Collin County Sheriff Jim Skinner spoke at the Celina Chamber networking lunch in July. Sheriff Skinner spoke about the joint task force committed to keeping sex and drug traffickers out of Collin County. "We want those people to know they are not welcome in Collin County," said Skinner. In a release from CCSO, Skinner stated, “The protection of our children continues to be one of my top priorities. This type of operation wouldn’t be possible without the cooperation that exists among all federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies in North Texas and the investigators who work tirelessly to root out this evil.”
