Celina launches 2020 Community Survey The City of Celina launched the 2020 Community Survey, in continuation of the biannual tradition of listening to the community on what’s happening in Celina and what is important. The 2018 Community Survey was a foundational piece in the development of the award-winning Downtown Master Plan, the 2018-2020 Strategic Plan, the Trails Master Plan, and the Parks and Recreation Master Plan. These plans are lighting the way for Celina to take bold and meaningful actions to protect the small-town charm of Celina, while creating attractive and lively amenities, high quality development, and sustainable improvements that the community voiced were important. The Comprehensive Plan is in progress, and the City is taking steps every day to ensure that Celina grows in a planned and strategic way, with character and with purpose. The Community Survey assists in identifying the needs of Celina and helps planning efforts for future projects and priorities, including economic development, parks and recreation, infrastructure, city services, and more. The online survey will be available on the City’s website at www.Celina-TX.gov through June 25, 2020. The 2020 Community Survey gathers information on basic demographics of the Celina community, a SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats/challenges), levels of satisfaction, and communication preferences. “We are committed to the continued success of our community,” said Mayor Sean Terry, “and we want to better understand the viewpoints of our growing family of residents and visitors. I would like to thank everyone in advance for contributing and providing their feedback as we continue to plan for the future of this great city.” To take the 2020 Community Survey, please visit the City website at: www.Celina-TX.gov!

From The Desk of Dr. Tom Maglisceau To All Bobcats and Their Families, I’d like to thank everyone for working together to take care of our kids this year, and particularly these past few months, supporting the future of our great community. It is an understatement to say that this has likely been one of the most unique times in our lives, and I can only hope that many years from now, when historians recount our response in 2020, each of us can look back proudly at how we successfully supported one another to turn a disruption into a display of unity. Please know that Celina ISD will continue to plan for a full opening of school next fall, with teachers welcoming students back into their classrooms, our kids playing together at recess, clubs and activities in full swing, and of course, Friday Night Lights. However, please know that we will also prudently plan for additional supports and options should the health of our community or state require an alternative to the traditional school setting. If we have learned anything this spring, surely we all recognize that our flexibility and resourcefulness has reminded us what matters most: the safety and health of our families and friends. Greatest of all, I hope we have all learned that our love and support for one another will help us manage whatever is ahead of us this fall. Have a great summer, and Go Bobcats! On Friday, June 5, the Celina Public Library hosted a free celebration to unveil the new renovations with a ribbon cutting, balloon artist, book bead necklace craft, 3D printer demonstrations, and more. The library has been closed since mid-March when the anticipated renovations began on the facility. During the ceremony, residents can see the new flying book displays, tables in the children’s area, book-drop under the counter, renovated and updated furniture, and additional seating. Shelving was also added throughout to accommodate an additional 1,000 books being added to the collection. Material will be available for check out too. New library cards will be issued to residents with appropriate proof of address and ID. Linda Shaw, Director of Library Services at Celina Public Library, has said the renovation was a way for the library to thank patrons for their continued service and patience during the closure, “Our patrons have been exceptional, and we want this renovation to be a way for us to say, ‘thank you’ to them for their continued membership.” Sign-ups will also be available for the Summer Reading Program. Questions may be directed to 972-382-2682.
