Life is a game. It’s a beautiful game and you have to learn how to play, then you must play. When people play they are so happy, aren’t they? You enjoy playing a game, but then all of you have become dead serious. You are serious about everything. If something goes wrong, immediately you collapse. But if it were a game, would you collapse? You wouldn’t. So the only way to make you live is to make you enlightened. Whatever form of enlightenment doesn’t matter.

Set right parental relationship and everything will fall into place

The setting right of your relationship with your parents is of the utmost importance. It is a priority. Technically what happens is, all relationships reflect your relationship with your parents. The relationships you have with your family, friends and all at the places of the work, all that again depends upon this relationship with your parents. Once this is set right, everything falls into place. Life is relationship. Life also reflects these relationships. That is why, if you have a terrible relationship with your father, you are most likely to have financial problems, because life will reflect that. If it’s a very bad relationship with your mother, then you will have needless obstacles.

Experiencing parents is one of the simplest ways to set relationships right

One of the simplest ways to set relationships right with your parents is to start experiencing them. Like you go to the beach and you see the waves in the ocean, you see the breeze coming in. How would you experience that? Or you’re eating a nice dish, how do you experience that? Similarly, let us say your father is shouting. Enjoy it as if it is the roar of the lion. Your mother is doing something and you should turn that into something very beautiful.

The set right family affects the whole globe — Sri Bhagavan
The strange thing is, when relationship is set right, the heart sends different signals to the brain. Whenever every single family makes it, the ripple effect will be on 100,000 people. So much benefit occurs to the mankind. We can prevent drought, floods and war. We can do so much if families as a whole will make it. The brain is like a transmitting station. It transmits certain messages, certain thoughts, certain feelings into the thought sphere from which we absorb it back. So 100,000 people will be affected if a family is set right, which means you are affecting global consciousness. So to me the whole globe is like a family.

Nurture children with utmost care — Sri Bhagavan
Nurture children with utmost care and concern so that it becomes natural for children to reciprocate love. Help children to accept their failures that they naturally gain strength to face life’s challenges. Trust children so that they also learn to trust. Embrace children when they are wrong, so that they learn the beautiful art of forgiveness. Above all teach children the need to be integral to themselves. Let children learn to confront their emotions, thoughts, inadequacies and inabilities.

Inner world creates external problems — Sri Bhagavan
If you look inside yourself and discover who you are and accept yourself as you are and love yourself, you will completely have no difficulty with the external world. It is the inner world which is creating the external world. Now in case you have difficulty with the external world, in spite of your having seen the inner world, it means you have not really seen the inner world. Because, the inner world is the one that is actually creating the external problem.

In the inner world you must give up effort effortlessly

"What to do?" is the wrong question. There is nothing to do. Just keep quiet, then everything will just happen. The problem is that you keep trying to do something. In the external world you must do things. It is very necessary. But in the inner world, the problem is you continue with the same kind of effort. In the inner world you must give up the effort. It must become effortless and automatic.

Stay with the fact that you do not know — Sri Bhagavan
In case you do not know what your mission in life is, then you must stay with the fact that you do not know what your mission in life is. You should not try to use your mind and discover what it is, because the mind cannot help you in this regard. So what is important is to follow inner integrity. That is, keep watching your mind. See what is going on inside your mind. Do not try to create an answer, but keep expecting an answer and stay with the fact that you do not know.

Be aware of the negative, it automatically becomes positive

We can express the self in a constructive way or in a negative way. Suicide, getting anger and destroying relationship are expressions of the self in a negative sense. The self is there and it has to be expressed. The only question is whether it is being expressed positively or negatively. To be aware that you are expressing it constructively, you must be aware first of how you are expressing it negatively. Very often we are expressing it negatively. That is why we have financial, health and relationship problems. If you become aware of it, it will automatically change. There is no need for any effort for positive self-expression. If you become aware of the negative, it automatically becomes positive.

You don’t have to forgive ; forgiveness happens — Sri Bhagavan
You first suffer and then forgiveness happens. Here the word “forgiveness” does not mean you forgive. When we use the word “forgive” what we mean is, somebody has hurt you and you realize that person is not responsible. When you realize that person is not responsible, forgiveness happens. You do not forgive. Now, how to realize that the other person is not responsible? Somebody has hurt you and if you be with that pain, without escaping from that pain, if you really suffer, then suddenly you realize the other person is not responsible. It actually does not need effort or time. You don’t have to forgive ; forgiveness happens.

Where love is possession, there’s the fear of losing it

Every individual has a void inside, to fill the void one uses relationships. The person constantly needs to feel loved whereby he/she tends to be possessive in relationship. Where love is possession, there is always the fear of losing it. One destroys his/her freedom and everybody else’s freedom. An act of fear is claimed to be love. The truth is people don’t love themselves and relationship is a means to love oneself. They try to fulfill themselves through relationships.

Youth: “What’s the difference between like and love?” Sri Bhagavan: “When you like a flower, you just pluck it. But when you love a flower, you water it daily.”

We can see truth only when we love others — Sri Amma
Mind generates logic due to fear but heart emanates truth. Fear is manifesting as hatred, jealousy, anger, and violence in families and society. Stress comes not because of physical work but from a negative approach. We can see truth only when we love others. Logic destroys love. It is not possible to love after you have judged. Hence we suffer. Unless we learn the art of seeing with inner integrity, we will not be able to see the truth and discover love. If we can love only then we can forgive and seek forgiveness. One should develop extreme patience to maintain love and peace in the relationship.

When coming from the heart, it is impossible to hurt another
— Sri Bhagavan
If you sincerely come from your heart, when you do things, it is impossible to hurt another. In case you are hurting another with sincerity, it means you are coming from the mind. That is when other people could get hurt. However straightforward you are, how authentic, how sincere you are, if you come from the heart, it is impossible to hurt another. So that is what you have to practice. You must check out and see if it is coming from the heart or the head. Very easily you can confuse the heart for the head. It is very difficult to come from the heart, it takes a lot of practice, a lot of authenticity. If you have a nice feeling in the heart, then it comes from the heart. If you actually feel a very nice feeling it is impossible to hurt another. The problem is you often come from the mind.

Decision or intent is the seed of all creation. What is intent? Intent is a desire with passion. On an average day every individual has a minimum of 50 to 60 desires ranging from the little things of life to the big things. Intent unlike a desire, is focused, it generates energy. It sets the entire universe working in the direction you choose to go.

When inner dialogue is shut down, there is oneness
— Sri Bhagavan
The first level of oneness is inner oneness. Right now you are a crowd inside. There is no individual. There are a lot of divisions inside you. That’s why I say there is a crowd inside you. You are the son of so and so, you are the father of so and so, you are the husband of so and so, the friend of so and so, you are the employee of so and so, so many beings are inside and they are all talking. And then there is your conscious self and unconscious self; there is your inauthentic self and your authentic self. And they are all having a dialogue. That dialogue is actually you at this point of time. So, we want to shut down that dialogue. When that happens, there is a oneness, a oneness inside.

Remember when I say, “creating your God,” I do not mean creating a non-existent God through your own imagination. God is your creator and how could you create God? Creating your own God means to awaken to the power you wield. God is powerful, but you too—being a part of God—are quite powerful. You have the freedom to design the kind of God you want.
