AN EXPERIENCED

GUIDANCE TEAM that help you make the right choices as well as providing excellent personal and studying support

All students are treated like adults, we help you to develop confidence, responsibility and independence

Functional Skills

At Walsall Adult and Community College, we assess all learners’ maths and English (or ESOL) levels on enrolment, to see if they need any additional help while on their course.

It is not a test

You can’t fail, and we aren’t here to judge you. You will see what level you are working at and, from this, we will be able to see how we can help.

There is no time limit

Don’t get down if you think you’re going too fast. You may have to complete more questions if you’re working at a higher level! Just make sure to read each question thoroughly, and don’t guess if you don’t know.

What happens after?

Depending on your results, you may be supported with maths and/or English alongside your course. If this is the case, an appropriate class will be chosen for you, and fitted around your existing timetable.

Additional Support

As this assessment is done on a computer, a wide range of aids are available. If you require any of these, feel free to ask a member of the Guidance Team, and they will be happy to help.
