I have explored all over the panhandle, southern Alabama, and even went to Georgia one afternoon. I have been to so many amazing places it is hard to wrap up in just a few pictures. Keep an eye out on my Facebook because I will start to post photos and videos of my adventures. My new home is Defuniak Springs, Florida. The sign coming into town says “Home of Florida’s Historic Chautauqua.” If any of you know me well, I went straight towards one of the abandoned buildings that is part of the Chautauqua.

When I visit a new town, I always check out the haunted places nearby. Here are a couple of them. Far Left: This hotdog stand is supposed to have the best hotdogs in the world. It is also the second oldest in the country. Staff working late claim to hear singing, and the back door opening and closing on its own Left: This bed-and-breakfast hotel was built in the 1920’s. Staff and guests have reported ghosts of young children and a lamp that moves around on its own in Room #008.

I thought it was pretty cool going to the highest point in Florida! The mansion from Sweet Home Alabama.

Above: This is the old Covington County Jail in Andalusia, Alabama. I am waiting to hear back about getting inside for a tour. David from abandonedfl orida.com and I are hoping to explore it together! Left: However, I did get inside the old Coff ee County Jail in Elba, Alabama. It was built in 1912 and used until a fl ood in 1990. On March 1, 1979, Coff ee County Sheriff C.F. “Neil” Grantham was murdered in front of the jail.

Above: I love finding buildings where you can see the old signs on the brick. Below: Reeves Peanut Company was founded in 1932. Fun fact (well, don’t quote me on this, you can’t trust what you read online these days). The peanuts are known for being used in Lance peanut butter crackers. The building appears to be built back in 1903, maybe it was a cotton factory back then.

Above: The Bluff City Inn is an iconic 19th century hotel in Eufaula, Alabama. It is said that the town is restoring the hotel. Everything was fenced off, so it was hard to see if much progress is being made. It is a giant building and I would love to go back and see what they do with it. Below: This is the old general store, part of it is still open these days. It is rumored to be haunted by a past owner. People have heard footsteps and witnessed items falling off shelves.
