Merry Christmas Amy and her sister, Kelly, were excited about Christmas. One day, Amy told Kelly that she wouldn’t get any gifts from Santa Claus for Christmas. Kelly was sad. She did not understand why she wouldn’t get any gifts this year. “You’ve been naughty” , said Amy. Kelly cried. “It’s not true!” she yelled. Amy told her nobody liked her and that she had no friends. Two months ago, at Amy’s birthday party, one of Amy’s friends told her Kelly always told people she was busy and could not play with them. “But I AM busy!” cried Kelly when she heard what Amy’s friend had said. “I have homework!” she yelled. But Amy continued to tell Kelly she was bad and Santa was upset with her. “You’re a liar!” Amy told Kelly. “You’re not so busy. Your grades are not good, so you’re NOT doing your homework.” Unlike Kelly, Amy had a lot of friends. Her best friend’s name was Jenny. She went to her house every day. “We do homework together.” This is what Amy always told her mom before leaving for Jenny’s house. When she didn’t go to Jenny’s house, she went

to her friend Ruth’s house. Amy had a lot of friends. “People like me”, she told Kelly. It was December 19th and Christmas day was coming soon. More importantly, it was the last day of school before the winter vacation. This also meant all of the students would be getting their report cards. So, when Amy and Kelly got home from school that day, their mom had gotten their report cards from their teachers. She was very happy with Kelly’s grades, but not so happy with Amy’s grades. When Christmas day arrived, there were some big presents under the tree. When the girls ran downstairs to see what Santa had brought them for Christmas, they were very excited. Santa brought Kelly a bicycle. Santa brought Amy a home learning game, which was much too big to take away from the house. Their mom looked at the girls and said, “Santa always gives gifts that are needed, not wanted.”
