POUNDLAND SCREENING

O

ur Redbridge centre in Ilford saw a massive recruitment drive for Poundland jobs. Many of our clients applied for jobs and after a rigorous process, the clients were shortlisted for the first screening at our Ilford centre. Pound and employers met the clients and judged them on several soft skills including team work through team building activities. The shortlisted candidates were called for a one-onone interview at Pound land store and many were then employed by the company.

Teenage Miller Brothers find a job that lets them work and study

T

he Miller Brothers are three boys aged 16, 17 and 19 that came to 5E from a Work Redbridge open day at the Town Hall. They all wanted to continue with their schooling but also wanted to work and gain some monies. After talking to us at 5E Ltd they decided to join our Inspire Futures Programme which looks after people aged 16-19 helping them find work, education or get into training. All three of the brothers, Zachery, Juriel And Koran started our employability training first, making sure that they were job ready by helping them with their C.V’s , Cover letters and effective job search. We also discussed them joining our Retail Knowledge course as getting a job in Retail would give them the flexibility they needed to continue with 6th form, college and university. During the last week of their employability training our Business Development team namely James Harman secured a screening session with Poundland East ham. Zachery, Juriel and Koran are very polite, well dressed confident and enthusiastic individuals and we thought they would do very well at the screening for Poundland and one if not all would find employment. After the screening and then an interview with the manager of Poundland Eastham, all three brothers were taken on and gained employment, with the understanding that their shifts would work around their schooling, so not only do they have jobs they can continue their chosen education as well.

Ugo Romano found a job at Poundland

y English language was very poor, so the Job Centre sent me to an ESOL course to improve it. I started with Entry 2 and I have passed with success. My course was very interesting and I have improved my English language skills that, combined with the patient support of my teacher, Pamela, helped me to find a job and to start my career in Poundland. At moment I have a contract limited of three months for attending the training and after I will have a permanent contract. So I am continuing the course with diligence and dedication. I want to say thanks to the staff of the school and especially to Pamela.

I was unemployed receiving Jobseeker’s Allowance and my advisor decided to send me to some English classes, so that I would have fewer problems to find the desired job I needed. That is how I met 5E and my teacher and friend Pamela. After finishing the ESOL course, Pamela offered me the opportunity to do a volunteer job in Forest House as an ECDL trainer assistant. After a month of volunteering, I was called for a job interview with Raj, the director of the company. Raj was very encouraging and helpful. After our interview, he welcomed me into his family, (5E Ltd). At the moment, I am working in 5E supporting my family (5E Ltd) and trying to help others as well as learning new skills. I have to thank Pamela, Raj and my colleagues for this golden opportunity to start a new life in London.”

I

have attended both the pre-Entry and Entry 1 classes at 5E Ltd. and achieved both the qualifications successfully. I am very happy to improve my communication skills after attending the ESOL classes at 5E. Towards the beginning of the course, I was very shy and quiet in the class. My teacher, Sumaiya has always encouraged me to communicate with other students in English. Gradually, I started to speak to other students and took an active part in all classroom discussions and activities which helped boost my confidence. I have now started my own business of making and supplying homemade food to different stores in Ilford. I am now more confident to deal with my clients and customers as a result of which, I am planning to expand my business further. I would like to thank Sumaiya, my teacher who has always helped me to learn and speak in English. I appreciate the help and support that I have received from 5E staff members. In my free time, I like to come to the college even though I no longer study here as I have made some very good friends while studying at 5E. I would strongly recommend the college to those who want to improve their English.

1. Belief. The first step to goal setting is to have absolute belief and faith in the process. If you don't believe you can absolutely transform your life and get what you want, then you might as well forget about goal setting and do something else. If you are in doubt, look around you. Everything you can see began as a thought. Make your thoughts turn into reality. 2. Visualize what you want. Think of what you deeply desire in your life. What changes have to take place? What do you need to know or learn? What spiritual, emotional, personal, financial, social or physical properties need to be addressed? The clearer you are with each of these dimensions will bring your vision into sharp focus. The clearer you are, the easier it will be to focus on making it happen.
