This is a diagram of a King Penguins

Body

King Penguins have interesting bodies. They have black backs and white bellies. They are a special type of bird, they do not have wings, they have flippers. King Penguins weigh about 10 to 16 kilograms. They have bright-yellow beaks, and orangish ears. And, they grow about 90cm tall. They have a triangle tails, they are grey and really small. Moreover, they have grey clawed feet. Therefore, I think King Penguins have very interesting bodies.

The body of a King Penguin is very useful. For example, their bodies let them store a lot of fat so they won’t be cold in the winter. Another example, they have slim bodies so they can glide in the water. Moreover, they have clawed feet so the can grab things. Their flippers help them swim, and their small triangle tail can steer the penguin when it is swimming. That is the why the body of a King Penguin is very useful in every way.

Habitat

King Penguins have a interesting environment. King Penguins live on cold islands across Antarctica. It is very humid in Antarctica; 82.8% humidity. There are lots of animals that live in Antarctica. For example, there are Weddell Seals, Orcas, Rockhopper Penguins, Black-browed Albatrosses and Leopard Seals. There are no land animals in Antarctica. Thus, Antarctica is a very interesting continent.

This is a Black-browed Albatrosses, they only live in Antarctica.

Antarctica is very important to King Penguins. King Penguins start colonies on Antarctica. They start colonies on valleys or beaches. Normally they start colonies on rocky shores of Antarctica. Still, there are few Penguins that start colonies on sandy beaches. Moreover, King Penguins breed on rocky shores too. They start colonies close to water so they can get food easily. That is why King Penguins start colonies on bays in Antarctica.

King Penguins are preys to a lot of animals. They are prey for birds and fish. One of the reasons why they are so many animal’s prey is because they are easy targets. They are easy targets because they are really defenseless. A lot of animals eat them, for example, Orcas, Antarctic Fur Seals, Skuas, Snowy Sheathbills and Leopard Seals. That is why so much animals target King Penguins as preys.

Predator and Prey

Just because King Penguins are prey to a lot of animals does not mean that King Penguins can’t be predators to other animals. Penguins are mostly predators for fish and crustaceans. For instance, they are predators to mostly all the fish that live in Antarctica, Squid, Krill, Crustaceans and Lantern Fish. Their favorite is Lantern Fish. Fish is 80% of their diet. That is the proof that King Penguins are predators too.

Lantern Fish are King Penguins’ favorite food.
