Introduction The Megalodon, is an extinct species of shark. Large sharks like Megalodon would have had a huge appetite. The Megalodon was more than 50 feet long and Megalodon weighed more than 105,000 kg or 53 tons. It was a shaped like of a torpedo. It was a king of the sea because everything on its body was huge.

nothing. They earned it because of their giant jaw and giant teeth. In it’s lifetime the Megalodon may lose more than 1,000 teeth. In 1987 someone discovered a 7 in. Megalodon tooth in Peru - largest shark teeth known. A loose tooth for a shark is fine, because sharks can generate teeth forever, unlike a human being. The upper jaw has about 28 teeth, and the bottom jaw has about 30 teeth. Megalodon had 46 front row teeth, 24 in the upper jaw and 22 in the lower. Most sharks have at least six rows of teeth, so a Megalodon had about 276 teeth at any given time.

Fossil Megalodon fossils have been found all over the world, except for Antarctica. It was too cold there for them to survive. That is why they need blubber to survive in winter days.

Megalodon was the biggest predator that ever lived for years. The Megalodon was far bigger than a full grown T-Rex mommy. No one knows exactly what is inside of Megalodon, but scientist think that it should be the similar to a Great White Shark. The Megalodon was not the biggest shark known. The biggest shark known is the Whale Shark, but Megalodon is the biggest predator known for years.

History of the Megalodon

The Megalodon died right when the Ice Age began. Scientist guess it died because the se was too cold for it to live in at that time, so it died. But no one knows exactly how it died out. Megalodons lived 415 million years ago. It existed after the Jurassic times, but they died when the Ice Age began. They roamed the sea about 17 or 18 years.

Blubber is a fat that keeps sharks for cold places, such as Antarctica.

Diet of Megalodon Your guesses may fail when you start to think about the diet of Megalodon sharks. With such a massive size, it was certainly not possible for Megalodons to satisfy their hunger by feeding only on smaller fish and aquatic animals. Megalodons mostly consumed mighty fish like whales, dolphins and even other sharks! An estimate reports that nearly 2,500 tons of food per day was consumed by Megalodon sharks.
