Introduction

Do you like fluffy, adorable cats with doll faces glued to their heads? Do you like cat breeds with good and loving personalities and is a great addition to the family? Well, you may think that i’m talking about the royal, long haired Persian, but no, it’s not the Persian. There is another type of Persian, the shorthaired version, the lively Exotic Shorthair. If you love those kinds of cat breeds, you will also love this book, too. An unforgettable, fluffy experience that in a flash, it will be at the back at your head, sealed forever.

Letter from Vivi (the author of this kitty book) That’s all for now, but you’ll find out more facts later on. (and no, there’s no dogs in here, so if you’re searching for dogs, you’ve got the wrong book!)

The History and Origin of the Exotic Shorthair

The Exotic Shorthair’s origin takes place in the 1960s in the US. Exotic Shorthairs were developed to be the shorthaired version of the Persian. The Exotic was a result of breeding American Shorthairs, Burmese, and Persian breeds. Exotic Shorthairs first came out as a silver color, so it was called the Sterling at first. But after all the other natural colors of cats were possible in an Exotic, for example, tabby patterns, the name was changed to the Exotic Shorthair.

YOU SERIOUS?! The oldest cat breed is the Egyptian Mau, first found more than 3,000 years ago, the official symbol originated in Ancient Egypt.

Description (physical appearance)

The Exotic Shorthair’s head is round and massive, it contains full cheeks, and powerful jaws. Its ears are small, rounded at the tip, not too open, and widely spaced. Its eyes are large, well spaced, round, and the eye color goes, or blends, with the color of the fur coat. Its neck is short and thick. Its body is medium in size, contains massive shoulders, a broad chest, large bones, powerful muscles, and the average weight of an Exotic is between 3,5 and 6 kilograms. Its paw is short, straight, large, round, and may include tufts of hair between the toes. Its tail is short and thick, carried low, and has a rounded tip. Its coat is shorthaired, but a little bit longer than all other shorthaired cat breeds, the texture is dense, fluffy, and erect.

Colonel Meow

CAT RECORD! The record for the furriest cat in the world is internet star, Colonel Meow, a HimalayanPersian crossbreed, and each hair is on this cat is 9 inches long.

The Personality

The Exotic Shorthair’s personality traits are very positive*. The Exotic Shorthair is mostly known for its very good patience with children. It’s curious and playful, it may be friendly to other cats and dogs. The Exotic has an energetic spark of the American Shorthair, and are often capable mouse hunters. It’s similar to its long-haired ancestor, the Persian, but only it seems more childlike and livelier. The Exotic Shorthair is perfect for a family, especially for families with babies and young children. The Exotic is very much preferred to live in apartments in urban areas for city dwellers. The feelings and the hype of this breed is under control, and its meow is barely heard, it’s not noisy like an average Siamese cat, and it is a very calm breed, also. It does not like being left alone, and needs the presence of its owner. They follow wherever their owner goes, like the couch, and by the time the owner sits down, the cat looks up to you and gives you an irresistible gaze for the person to carry up the Exotic to his/her lap. It can sometimes seem like hugging you while you are still carrying it.

Meow! Exotics bear between 2 and 8 kittens per litter. It is first born as a longhair kitten, but after a few weeks or months, its coat will get shorter little by little.

*Look up Lil’ Bub and Grumpy Cat if you do not know them.

Viviana (aka* Vivi for short) Viviana also known as Vivi, the author of this book, was born on May 2002, and is currently an average 5th grader at SAS with a great passion for art, Exotic Shorthairs, just like she’s writing here, and other unexplainable silly things. For example, the picture above. She may have just arrived in Shanghai a few weeks ago, but it may take a while for her to get used to it. She lives in an hotel/apartment with her parents, but she also has 2 older brothers that are staying in the U.S. for college. She has an unbelievable talent of drawing cartoons, manga/anime, but she is terrible at painting, she just needs a pencil to draw, with company from her magic finger. From this talent, she really wants to join DeviantArt, also, but maybe when she’s a little older. And from this talent, again, many people say to her that “She’s sure going to be an artist when she grows up!” but really, she prefers to be a talented voice actress, because a celebrity inspired her, but she can do silly voices, too. She hopes she does not accidentally fall in love with a guy that is Chinese or something like that, since her dad always teases her about that a ton of times. *stands for “also known as”

Goodbye.
