Make the Minocqua Museum a ‘Must Visit’ on Your Summer ‘To Do’ List

MINOCQUA - The Minocqua Museum in Minocqua is a hidden gem that offers visitors a glimpse into the rich history and culture of the Northwoods region. The museum was founded in 1970 by the Minocqua Historical Society and is dedicated to preserving the history of the area and educating the community and visitors about the unique aspects of the region’s past.

Inside the museum, visitors will find a diverse collection of artifacts, exhibits, and displays that showcase the natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and historic significance of the Northwoods. One of the museum’s standout exhibits pays tribute to the flourishing logging industry that once dominated the region. Visitors can explore a replica lumber camp, complete with tools, equipment, and clothing that would have been used by the loggers.

Another exhibit focuses on the region’s rich Native American culture, including displays of intricate beadwork, traditional crafts, and fascinating artifacts. Additionally, visitors can see exhibits dedicated to the history of Minocqua itself, including old photographs, documents, and memorabilia that capture the spirit of the town as it once was.

Join the Fun at the Lupine Junefest Bike Tour in Mercer

MERCER - Join the 17th annual Lupine Junefest Bike Tour in Mercer on Saturday, June 10. The excitement begins at the W. S. Carow Park in Mercer and runs from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Participants celebrate the blooming of the Lupine Wild Flower in the beautiful Northwoods of Wisconsin!

Race organizers have mapped out several scenic routes, including 10-mile, 28-mile and 50-mile road rides and a pick-your-distance trail ride that will take bicyclists on paved roads through rolling hills and past lakes, rivers, forests, wildlife and miles of blooming lupines throughout the southern part of Iron County.

Ready to join this ride? Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. with a group ride starting at 8:00 a.m. The $40 registration fee includes a t-shirt, goodie bag, snacks, lunch coupon, water and SAG vehicle support. There’s also an early packet pick-up from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, June 9th at Carow Park where you can discuss the bike routes and get acquainted with event organizers and fellow riders.

After the ride, enjoy lunch and drinks from the concession stand as you listen to live music with a beautiful view overlooking Grand Portage Lake.
