LENA – Exciting AMSOIL Championship Off-Road races will feature top drivers in Pro 4x4, Pro 2wd and SxS classes battling for the checkers at the annual Dirt City Off-Road National the weekend of July 30 & 31 in Lena. The event is part of the new, innovative short course racing series.

The AMSOIL Championship Off-Road series features 900-hp trucks battling fender-to-fender through the mud and dirt, delivering some of the most intense off-road racing around. The half-way marker of the 2022 campaign at Lena means points battles are beginning to take shape.

The dirt-flying, wheel-to-wheel action will take place at the Dirt City Motorplex racetrack. The Lena Motorsports Club, along with many volunteers, broke ground in the spring of 2018 and finish building the Motorplex in just one year. The facility features a short course track (.85 mile) that consists of jumps, whoops, tight corners, split lanes and a lowered suspense corner. The latter brings the race vehicles up into the front stretch, and through the start/finish line flying high in front of the crowd. After a race is complete, the top three finishers park their vehicles in front of the crowd, and then make their way to the podium for interviews. Fans get to talk with drivers during this time, too.

Dirt City Motorplex, 414 E. Main Street, offers off and on-site camping just outside the racer pit area. Pits are open to the public with the purchase of admission. On-site amenities include a restaurant. Northeast Region

Crandon Invites Visitors to Kentuck Day

CRANDON – Your summer bucket list should include a visit to Crandon’s Kentuck Day, an all-day celebration of the community’s heritage, coupled with a large arts and crafts festival, expansive car show and ethnic food. The 2022 event will be Saturday, July 23, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Kentuck Klassic Car Show is a display of show vehicles new and old, brought in by enthusiasts from across the Northwoods. The car show is held on the shaded grounds of the Weber-Hill Funeral Home, just across the street from the Courthouse Square. Both events are free, and visitors can walk back and forth between the two.

Approximately 75 artists and vendors are expected at the arts and crafts show on the Courthouse Square. They will be selling finely crafted and original items such as silk floral designs, scrolled wood items, photographs, honey products and wildlife art. The flea market on Polk Street will have about two dozen vendors.

In addition, there will be sidewalk sales and music on the courthouse grounds. For more information, visit the Forest County Chamber of Commerce’s website at visitforestcounty.com.
